So today i have sent my geologist to find a marble shaft again...but i saw i have the 4 shafts working and none depleted and after that i saw that i cant cancel that action...can you please do a cancel button?

FIMLightningDash

That could be usefull althou i mostly just log in, send out the geologist, then leave unless its stone since its only 4 min then i may wait it and send him out again. But i can understand if someone would want to cancel it anyway.

Hi,

I just send out my geologist searching for the wrong ore.
So it would be nice if there was a way to abort search missions of the geologist, explorer.
I made a mistake and then I learned he can not be aborted.
So maybe an idea!

Yes, or in this case, simply have the geologist do a check at the start of his mission:

1) Has the player got any free slots for the resource being searched for
if Not, are any mines going to expire within the time it will take to do the search.

If answer to both is no, then it should show a message saying that you're already at your limit for that resource. If not, it should carry on as normal.

The worst thing is, as it currently stands, the game will allow you to send the geologist off on his search, accept the 25 gems to halve the search time and then you can be in the position that he returns, saying you have no spare slots and you've wasted the 25 gems!

I did this, emailed support and got the gems refunded back (thank you :)) - but the game should allow you to pay for things that it knows it cannot do.

They never had telephones or radio Geologists back then but yeah, a type of cancel would be nice!

pietjepukkie
24.03.12, 11:43
Also a search queue for the geologist would be nice (3 or 4 slots), so you won't have to wait for 30 minutes or an hour for you geologist to search for marble or iron before you can send him off to find another resource you need. I imagine this is even more frustrating with the even longer search times with the more advanced resources.

That's why you buy more geologists!

... and people laughed at me when I told them I had 5 geologists:confused:

The button what you want is an undo. What's the difference? Cancel is take place in pair with an ok button when you have to decide to do something or not, undo can appear alone after a decition. So there is cancel for geolog and explorer, when you choose what to search. In the case of them your button would be somewhat like "retreat" of generals, but the reason this latter is general may get to a position what is not your direct choose (interception). Besides this one case there is not any event what is not lay on your decition, so nowhere any undo button, and shoud not be. You have to be circumspect befor click on any button, even endure the consequences of your choose.

This is not an office-like application full of undos and cancels, and should not be. At decision point you can accept or cancel, even if in queue you can remove a planed action. After an action started... so be carefull on clicking slap-dash.

It will cost you at worst 4 hours.

BB isn't even going to do something about the misclick gem losses, which can quickly cost us anywhere between 2 weeks and 1 month, so guess where this request is on the priority list?

That said, I'd somehow agree. It's kinda irritating.

Hi all, we have a recall option for generals, and it would be great to have a recall option for geos and explorers. I'm sure we have all had that "doh" moment when we see that we sent the geo to search for gold when we meant to send them for coal - or note we are maxed on gold... Same for explorers, when you send the wrong one to find an adventure and you meant it to look for treasure or vice versa :)

To be fair, I think there should be a time limit. For example you could 'recall' for 1 minute or such... then after that he's too far away and won't hear you :)

Sorry for digging an old thread up. I have the same wish as well. Please let us cancel geologists' and explorers' searches. Not only to save us time, but also to save us resources if geologists are sent to find the wrong mineral mines.

I've commented before but I'll agree again - I think it seems only fair to allow a player to cancel their search. I would also understand if there was a compromise that you could only do so within a certain amount of time after sending him out - the thought being he's still close enough to the mayor's house to yell at him (or something like that) - beyond that time they are too far away. I think that players do have an obligation to plan and act with forethought so there should be some kind of limit or penalty.

There are two threads now going on this, they should be merged.

Or, easier solution, players could check the island before sending the geologist so he isn't wasting time? nah, too much effort for some I guess.

I completely agree - that's why I said perhaps within a time frame. It's annoying when a mental gap/click miss causes a 1 hour delay and I see it right away and it would be nice if there was a short period where I could cancel. But I know I'm responsible so that's just the way it goes, but many interfaces have a 'undo last action' that is valid perhaps for 30 seconds or so, so I was thinking along those lines. It's not me knowing that I need a gold mine that is the problem, it's that (especially now that the order in the star menu isn't consistent in some circumstances) I don't send my skilled gold mine finder - I send someone else by mistake and would like to change my mind.

Overall however I agree the responsibility lies in the hands of the player - it would be nice though if a little human error could have a chance to be undone.

Even with checking, people may still make mistakes sometimes, something like wanting to search iron mine but clicking on gold mine right below it by mistake; or right after sending explorers on Pro-longed searches, a quest pops up and requires a short search.

i don't see why there should be an additional penalty, other than you lose the time already spent searching.

HFoC
14.11.16, 09:58
it is broken, you can't cancel. Haven't read a single good reason why this function would be so bad.

LordBosse

It is not broken as BB never intended for us to be able to cancel them afaik

vigabrand
04.08.18, 11:47
a cancel button would be very useful especially now with so many specialist explorers and geo's. Quite often i send wrong person on a search and/or a quest pops up and i want a geo/explo available asap. The penalty for this would obviously be time lost, e.g. a scout 25 hours into a very long search being cancelled!

Makomori

In my view if u did not pay enough attention on what deposits u sent ur geos u have to pay the price... If u'll play long enough this game & have a chance to get all geos or explorers ur problem will suddenly not be a problem anymore.

Hi, There have been many occasions when I have sent my Geos or Explorers out on the wrong mission and would love to be able to recall them and send them out on the correct one. e.g. you send an explorer out on a mission and realise you won't be back to meet their return for several hours, thus wasting valuable search time. If we had a button similar to the retreat button the generals have when attacking, then this would save so much anguish as we wait a day or several hours for the specialist to return. I would expect the specialist to take as long to return as they have already travelled. Please BB, Please

The whole Geo/Explorer system needs refining, imo.
Instead of clicking each one and choosing it's mission (time consuming) it would be far easier to choose what mission you want to do (long search, gold search, artefact search etc), and then choose all the geos/explorers that you want to go on that mission with a kind of tick-box system similar to sending generals to adventures.
Doing it this way round may eliminate some mistakes.
A recall system could also be implemented but it would probably cost gems to recall them.

I don't think of it as a decision of whether or not I chose a particular time to pull out into traffic (no cancel button there) but more like asking my wife to go to the store and get something and then running out to the driveway before she has actually gone and asking her to get something else instead. If I just gave and explorer an order surely he's still walking away from me for a short period of time and I can just shout "sorry - cancel that".

As we are now having more geos than we ever wished for, I like the suggestion to be able to sent 6 for stone- 6 for marble etc. I normally sent the same geos for the same kind of job, mainly the one I skilled them for. A cancel button would be fine also - it might take 8 hours if you sent the wrong geo for the wrong job.
Oh and yes now I sent the pink geo for the longest job possible - so I don't need to look at him, he might even be sent to look for emeralds if that was possible - then he would be gone for ever :-D - (sorry)
