Hi all,

I've just been reading about this upcoming feature on the Settlers Online Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/TheSettlersOnline) page. I have to say I'm looking forward to this being implemented into the game.

I wonder what the resource cost will be to move a building?

:)

It does mention that it would cost either resources or gems. The question is how many?

i think i would be prepared to pay enough gems for the time i could shave of my resource production ....

I doubt it's going to be particularly cheap if you use resources. The cost of placing tier 1 buildings is pretty trivial when you compare it to producing enough materials to build an army of 100+ recruits (and rebuild them over and over) so demolition and rebuilding isn't that costly. The trick is to make your mind up where you want everything to be before you start doing expensive upgrades.

I hope we could use both resources and gem

The images i saw had 2 buttons. 1 for resources 1 for gems. so both options seem availlable. But no costs have been shown for either.

no. i think you should not be able to morph an upgraded building somewhere else. you should have to rebuild a building , if you want to rebuild it. :)

yeah I agree.. maybe they can still enable doing so by calling it 'moving', but in essence this should be tearing down the building in one place and rebuild it on another. They should make the costs of doing so the same in terms of resources.

Part of the problem with bad building placement is you're stuck with working within the confines of the sectors you control and the tree/mountain layout, you can't clear the empty tree stumps to make room for better production. This means as you open up new sectors and need to step up your production you've got to currently pull down buildings and rebuild elsewhere in more beneficial locations.

Early on this isn't too bad with buildings costing a few hundred hardwood / marble or less but as soon as you're into level 3 / 4 buildings it's extremely expensive and moving one building to reduce production times can cost days of work given how slow it is to obtain gold (you'll be using a lot of gold on building upgrades) so it's not really practical to say "knock down and rebuild elsewhere".

i would guess=timate that it will prob be the update/maintainance of 1st march as that is the nearest thurs to end of feb and a nice way to boost us into the next month with a major update like that
