How to reproduce:

Make sure your next building project won't be started immediately (not enough resources/already building something).
Start a mine building project on a known deposit (I did this with iron).
Cancel the building project.
The deposit no longer exists!

You will have to rediscover this deposit with a geologist.

Are you sure? It seems very illogical that you lost knowledge of a deposit just because you abandoned a project of building a mine there...

You get a return on some of the building materials if you demolish a mine before it's empty. It wouldn't make sense if you had to build a new mine on an existing deposit of let's say 3 gold ore. As soon as the building has started the, you have a mine with ore and deposit is "gone".

@Veterinarian: You could try to give more explanatory answers. You are a bit short sometimes.

No, I don't think we're on the same page here. I'm not talking about a mine which has been running for some time. I am talking about a mine that has not been built. In fact, not even started to be built. Say you are short on resources, and place a "building site" on the deposit. Later, you change your mind (still you are short on the resources) and cancel the not even started-to-be-constructed "mine". Even now you will lose knowledge of the deposit. This is surely a design miss.

I should have been more spesific. The ore deposit is necessary to place the mine. As soon as you have placed the mine the ore deposit is gone. It's not a bug, but you do make a good point, since some of those resources take forever to find. Maybe you can post it in suggestions.

I see. Good answer.

Whether or not this is a bug is IMO up to the designers of the game. If this behaviour is the intended one, it is not a bug. If I was the developer, I would find this to be illogical behaviour, and thus a bug, so that's why I posted it here.
