How do you validate your email if you log on via Facebook?

I was wondering if this information was still current? I've just seen the news on the front page about the newsletter, and I'm using a Facebook login, so unsure about validation of the email.

Logging in via FaceBook you should still see the front page which is where you sign up for the newsletter
