View Full Version : Traitors is ridiculous

There, I said it, this is the first adventure after Bountyhunter and is the adventure the new adventurers are most likely to get when they send out their explorer for adventure.
Yet around 900 recruits in losses are needed in order to get to the loot on the last 3 camps alone. How dishearting do you want adventures to be?
Either do away with with the 2 camps protecting the castle; then it still is a costly affair and challenging on it's own or increase the loot value by like five fold.
Opinions?
or just play it for the 2600 xp and lose only 60 some recs.

Is an option in the poll. But imho when people play an adventure like that way it means it's seriously broken. I cannot have been designed with that intention.
Also note that Traitors is listed as Easy. Jup Easy.
500gran, 500hwp, 300ss, 800IS, 100set, 600 wht and 8710xp from the last time I did traitors - works out in about the right proportions of recruits to resources gained + XP to adventures like horseback, and better value then say Island of Pirates . . .
But that is just my view point - I don't always have enough resources to go and do it in a couple of hours, so they clutter my star menu, building up until I feel like a bit more of a challenge.
Traitors is actually listed as 4/10 for difficulty, which seems about right

Please vote the first option. :)
Glad to see someone doesnt mind it.
With regards to difficulty, it has an easy flower on the adventure, so i'd expect it to be 4/10 on a scale within easy which it isnt. I mean Dark Priests is easier to solo then this one and it has better loot too (ok it's a 3/10 easy adventure but it's strange that a 2 player adventure is easier to complete solo then a solo adventure that is advertised as easy).

let see what you think about Sons of veld or secluded when u got them.
and what you think about wild mary?
Two of the camps are blockable, you only need to know how. Since I worked out how (thanks to the german website) I have no problems playing this adventure. Sadly you do need an lagg free server when you play the part which involves blocking otherwise it could become an expensive adventure, but even without the veteran generals this adventure is doable.
not all maps can be the best /shrug doodoo happens and some will have to be worse than others or require other tactics. With 250 general and block, traitors is not bad and therefore a decent tradeoff adventure to do when u need xp but dont want to fork over many 100 s of coin for one of the desirable maps.

In my little part of Newfoundland the lag is really bad, I did traitors twice last week (w/e 29/04/12) and got wiped once on block 1 and thrice on block 2. In one attempt at bocking camp 9 my attack general actually went in to sir robins castle then came out again and went in to camp 9. I couldn't react quickly enough to retreat him coz I had relaxed when he went into sir robs gaff. That cost me recs, soldiers and the time taken to rebuild. This is not an easy adventure without the blocks.

Interesting to see that the people who do like it, use blocking to complete it. Personally i got bitten hard by trying to block due to lag costing me half my cav. Blocking is certainly not a designed feature however, so it kinda reinforces my point of view on this adventure. General concensus so far seems to be that this is far from the easy adventure that it is listed to be. Heck it only has 2 easy camps, all others are mediums and the mediums with cav in it are tough to say the least.

Wild Mary in sector 9 is fine; it is listed as a hard sector and hard it is. Losses are crazy on it but she certainly is a worthy endboss on your home island.

he's not talking about wild mary boss at sector 9
wild mary is an adventure name.
compare to any adv, clearing island was nothing compared any adv you about to do after you clear your whole island.

My main gripe with this adventure is that it is listed as easy as said before.
Easy means that it is geared to suit lvl26-lvl32 players, which in turn means players without access to archers, cannoneers or elite soldiers. It certainly is a lot easier to complete when you have access to those high tier troops, but look at it from a lvl 26 - lvl 32 player perspective who has been building steel swords for 2 weeks, militia and longbows for maybe 3 weeks and just lost all his cavalery by killing Wild Mary in sector 9.
The adventure is also highly imbalanced as the high number of xp only voters show. Triple the losses to complete it versus canceling it early (that is if you play up to camp 8).
Again imho. Ps. See enhanced xp only version (5060xp) here: Traitors advanced xp guide (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/17272-Mimori-s-Adventure-Guide?p=181546&viewfull=1#post181546)

got to agree with you but it is shown as a 4star adventure so is going to be quite hard. havent looked up guides for any more adventures after doing a couple of them now and just use the simulator now, also just turning lvl 32 i have quite a few resources at hand as havent been very lucky in getting adventures go have lots to go about once a week
The star rating seems right to me. Not all white adventures are the same, which is why the skull difficulty ratings exist not just the colour codes. If you think this adventure is bad go look at the casualty rates for green and blue adventures. You can get to level 32 by conquering the island and use those licences to expand your population, there's no need to make any adventure comfortable for a level 26 player.
You make the assertion that blocking is not a designed feature. If that were true there would be no need for the gem generals to complete combats faster, and BB could take that feature out in a second. The fact that they have not done so in more than a year of live play on the German servers contradicts you. Blocking is a high risk, high reward playing style that rewards the players who can do it effectively.
at the begining i didnt like Traitors for the same reason as you dont, but now with 4 generals, blocking and veteran general, this adventure is good
Are we talking about the same adventure here?! It is a very easy adventure but you need a lot of troops. Yes you need to plan it a little if you don't have the pop limit. I got 3 generals and pop 750 and manage to finish it in good time. Maybe the loot is not that great vs the lost units but on the other side it has high XP

High experience??
I'd rather do Stealing from the Rich. 600 recruits lost and 11k experience.

I downright like traitors.
It is good XP and with a reasonable production line you can make replacement recruits enough to do it every 3 days.
And it is CHEAP. Here on Northisle people dislike it too, so you can buy it at half the gc price you pay for Dark Priests despite the better XP and loot.
Just the thing for people like me who just dont get the 'fun' of killing little fat men. But has to, to level up.

Yeah and stealing from the rich is 1100 lost recruits, much less if you have the veteran and some ss or milita yes. I personnally like that much more. comparing 2 player vs 1 player adventure I think thats wrong. You must compare it with the other 1 player adventures
