Hello everyone,

Here's a nice way to level up quickly with minimal losses.
The adventure gives 5060 XP for an average of 99 Recruits losses. And its done within 15 minutes.

Theres 2 versions. 1 with Xbowmen and 1 with LBowmen. I havent tested the LBowmen version in the game but ran it through the battle calculator.
I think it works but with the Xbowmen version it definatly works.

REMEMBER this only works with 1 veteran and 2 NORMAL!! generals.
So do NOT use battle hardened generals instead of NORMAL generals!
ALSO, beware that the section "Units to take along" is only to show what units you putt on your generals to send them to the adventure, once in the adventure you have to arrange them to what the tables show on the right side before attacking the corresponding camps!.

Follow everything EXACTLY as shown on the tactical map or you WILL lose units! :p

Remember... This is a XP version, so there is NO loot!

PS.
Sorry for the blurry screenshot, shoulda saved it in BMP i guess :D.

HAVE FUN!

Slett

Thx! I was thinking about blocking camp 3, but it seemed to me too risky. I will try it :)

Well, I tried it twice. The first was a succes, but at the second one I lost my 192C... The battle ended too early. The game was laggy...

I rewatched my longblock: it was only 6 rounds long (and that's the minimum (6-11 rounds in the simulator)).

Its 194C and on average if i remember right that fight should last 9 rounds average. It hasnt gone wrong for me since i started using this tactic, been like 15 times now

Yep, I did it with 194C, sry. I had bad luck that's it. It lasted only 6 rounds as I said.

Wouldn't it be better to go with 200C? Your tactics worked 2 times fine for me, but the 3rd time I lost my Cavs. In round 5 I had 27 Cavs left and lost 14, In round 6, I lost lost the 13 remaining. I guess that if I would have sent 200 Cavs, that I would have made round 7.

200C will win the fight too early :D

I use 2R 192C, you get minimum of 7 rounds this way and an average of 8.97 rounds.

If you can be wiped in 6 rounds with 194C, you can be wiped with 192C in 6 rounds too. Even more chance to be wiped with less Cav's.

It's not guaranteed that more cavalry will make the battle last longer... it all depends on the victory chance that setup has.
By replacing a few cavalry by melee units, you can get the victory chance to be only a little above 50%,
which usually will give the longest average number of rounds in the fighting.

All fights below are for Traitors camp 3 (Slett's numbering), and give 6-11 rounds of fighting (after 100,000 simulations).
However, as you can see, the average number of rounds is varying a little.

These show the kind of optimisations I do for my guides, showing why few of my blocks have only cavalry.
I always pick the one giving the longest average fight, in this case it would be 1M 192C:

194C - victory chance 43% - average number of rounds 8.92
1R 193C - victory chance 59% - average number of rounds 9.06
2R 192C - victory chance 73% - average number of rounds 8.98
1R 1M 191C - victory chance 65% - average number of rounds 9.08
1R 1S 190C - victory chance 61% - average number of rounds 9.03
1M 192C - victory chance 54% - average number of rounds 9.11
2M 190C - victory chance 58% - average number of rounds 9.10
1M 1S 189C - victory chance 53% - average number of rounds 9.01
1S 191C - victory chance 49% - average number of rounds 9.02
2S 188C - victory chance 47% - average number of rounds 8.87
1S 1E 188C - victory chance 54% - average number of rounds 8.86
1E 191C - victory chance 57% - average number of rounds 8.97

The fact that the minimum number of rounds is as low as 6,
will still mean that some players some times will be as unfortunate as Lisztes though.
But the higher the average number of fights is, the more seldom that mishap would happen.

Anyone doing this with the new pathing?

...

In such situations i got slightly different tactic, i'd choose the block which has as low of this 6 rounds on sim chart as possible + those 6 round has to be wins, its not totally related with agv rounds tho, look on the chart:

194C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 26 losses
1R 193C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 3 losses
2R 192C - - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 3 losses
1R 1M 191C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 7 losses
1R 1S 190C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 3 losses
1M 192C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 12 losses
2M 190C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 1 wins 14 losses
1M 1S 189C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 11 losses
1S 191C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 17 losses
2S 188C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 18 losses
1S 1E 188C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 13 losses
1E 191C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 1 wins 7 losses

And id put other setup:
1E 193C - 6 round sims (2000 sims): 18 wins, 8,13 avg

Thats 6x20 secs each round of block + 40 seconds of progress bar so its the same as 8 rounds minimum!
And in all shown sims all of your minimal rounds was almost lost so you won't even know you are loosing here since no progress bar ;)
Again the weakest link is the minimum rounds, the other doesn't matter in fact and in that case if the main attack is more then 7x20 sec itself with all the walk + progress bar then its to risky to go ahead.

Now I'm really surprised you didn't notice that since its also based on your statements here (with which i totally agree btw) :
http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/18710-Blocking-time-per-round!

Btw never try this guide, will try it asap to test is it really worth it, since xp/1R is really attractive, even a bit better then some of the EC matches :D

does this work with new pathing?

I think not, waiting for a hero to do the block positions with the new pathing :P

Oh yes, I can only agree... a lot has happened during the two months since I posted the above... :)
I guess opasni_'s post got you to think my post was more recent than it was. ;)

Yes, that was posted a lot more recently than the post above.
It was after my post here (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/17711-We-need-yours-too!-Ideas-for-the-not-very-attractive-adventures?p=186675&viewfull=1#post186675) that I started to time the battles. :)

I had some free time, so I made the block positions with the new pathing:

http://s18.postimage.org/hy99equrp/traitors_exp_block.jpg (http://postimage.org/image/hy99equrp/)

Tested it 2 times, had no problems. Oh, and the link in the bottom of the picture points to this thread :)

sorry people havent invested any time in remaking this tactic with new pathing :P. Probably wont be doing it either as im not doing this adventure anymore since i turned lvl 42.

Made a new Black Knights tactical map with new pathing tho, for the people who are interested :).

Thanks to FortKnox and opasni for new blocking garrison, it works fine. I did it 4 times.

I finished this just now with 194C, then 120S and leader camp with 50R,1S,137C,62LBw. Lost only 40R. I´m very happy. Now go for final camps. Wish me luck.
