View Full Version : Virginmedia Customers Blocked from UBIsoft websites and online games.
It happened earlier today (Tuesday) a couple of times, but I assumed it was my isp's fault, but now I can't get past the 'tip of the day' window without a pop up saying "Connection to server lost...Please click OK to refresh your client" I have pressed 'ok' several times now, but it just takes me to the login welcome window, and when I press play now, it all happens again.
Can anyone sort this out, as I have no life and depend on these games for my self esteem.
er...this is embarrassing...got connected now, thank you
look on the bright side-
1) connection issues happen from time to time- nothing to be embarrased over
2) U weren;t trying to connect during maintenance and complaining- THAT would have been embarrassing :P
internet does weird things at times- problem might be at your isp or further down the line - annoying yes- embarrassing- no :P
I've been stuck on the tip of the day screen for last 15 minutes, just saying initialising login queue.
Anyone else having problems?
Yes, and now starting adventures. Off course can't play. Night lag and slow server morning you can't play. Grats Blue byte.
I am having the same problem, the server just drops out for no reason, and trying to log in again takes several frustrating attempts, so much so I am tempted to simply erase the program from my computer, as I lose interest in something that fails to run properly. It seems that I can no longer play the game. Just get to the introductory screen then nothing. Truly a pity. Think I will delete and forget about it now.
For the last 10 min I'm hanging on tip of the day window.. BB rox!!
No problem they will work on night with big lag and slow server, they can spare some money on little server park.
I can't log in this morning, it stops on 'initialising login queue'. My gf can log in to her account (on the same PC) but she can't visit me, it just displays the loading window forever.
umm, can login ok, can build ok but theres no trade tab and no one talking in chat even though it says its connected to chat (have refreshed).
anyone else having issues like these?

Hi Kirkoid,
Have you tried emptying your cache and cookies? That should help.
If you're still experiencing issues after, please contact Support for help.
Best,

I have the same problem. No TT and no chat appearing in global or guild tabs. Tried numerous refresh. restarts etc. But still no joy, have also tried different browsers.
Can't connect to uplay account. Seems like a UBI problem.
For the past hour or so they've been missing for me. See:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6232429/SnapCrab_NoName_2012-5-25_22-49-13_No-00.png
Cleared the cache etc. but the problem remains.
Anyone else having this problem?
I've being having this problem all day on the Newfoundland server. Sent a ticket to support but they haven't got back to me as yet. Just out of interest are you from the UK, if so, what ISP do you use. I'm with Virgin media. I know they have been having issues today, too.
Yep, I'm in the UK and with Virgin Media too...
i cannot log in wont let me passed the log in queue
Are you with Virgin Media arrakis?
Ah ha back online to chat servers

Done and done. Was able to log in last night ok (but my gf couldn't log in to her account!) but this morning we're back to me not being able to log in and she can log in fine again. Once again she can't 'visit' me, and last night I couldn't 'visit' her. It's like at times the accounts are simply not available.
Nope, still not working for me. I have 'Chat' now but nothing comes through. Still no Trade tab either:

im getting the same thing happening to me no trade tab no chat and some times no help tab too another user i know had the same problem but their chat box as stared to work properly now whit the trade as well
Just tried clearing the cache and cookies again and then couldn't log-in for 10 minutes! When I eventually managed to log-in, there's still no trade tab and chat isn't working...
I've managed to log-in, but Chat doesn't work and there's no Trade tab. I've contacted support, but it seems that quite a few people are having this problem at the moment...

I couldn't log in at all yesterday, nor could my brother. Tried many times throughout the day - nothing. I doubt it was my ISP because I was accessing other internet sites and playing WoW.
Really frustrating and the most annoying is, logging on now and I've had to start my daily log in loyalty bonus all over again - and it wasn't my fault I couldn't log in to TSO yesterday :(
I was 1 out of 1 in the login Q for ages, then decided to refresh..now i only get intialising login Q
i have stuff 2 do..Grrrrr
still it might be our (my) ISP, coz according to their site they're having problems expected to be fixed @ 7pm
I couldn't log in all yesterday, even though I kept trying to ... this is the first time I've been able to log on in 24 hours.
No loyalty bonus today because I didn't, through no fault of mine, log on yesterday.
Catesby - please contact support regarding losing your login bonus due to be unable to login.
And still the problem remains

We know that Virgin Media have issues currently affecting a number of customers due to problems at one of their data centres - there are details on the virgin media help forum about configuring a proxy to get around the issues. Not sure if that will help, but is worth a go - we are aware that our site is affected by this issue they have.
ahh okay. i too am virgin media. thanks for the heads up Lotak :)
if any of you clever peeps know how to configure proxy (explain it in non technical terms) i'm sure many peoples would benefit. ive looked at the virgin forum and am baffled. if we can login to well known chat programs then why is a game different?
D'oh! Thanks! I should have guessed that the problem was with Virgin, it's a POS.
If anyone else on Virgin is having problems, the Proxy to use is webcache.virginmedia.com on Port 8080
Which browser are you using?
Virginmedia has blocked a load of site including this one and uplay. I'm using my mobile phone to connect as there's no way of connecting otherwise. Even through there webcache proxy.
Here's what it says:

Iridium, for people like me who dont know about fiddling with the finer details of technology..were would one go to implement said webcache? is it via the pc, game settings or (ohh no) the darned virgin box itself?
Please make sure you save any existing Proxy settings before doing this!
On Firefox, click the top Firefox tab and select Options-->Options then click Advanced and the Network tab and click the Settings button :
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6232429/SnapCrab_Options_2012-5-26_16-50-41_No-00.png
Now select the radio button that says "Manual proxy configuration" and enter webcache.virginmedia.com in the HTTP Proxy box and 8080 in the Port box :
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6232429/SnapCrab_Connection%20Settings_2012-5-26_16-52-16_No-00.png
Now click OK and restart your browser clearing cache and cookies and everything should be ok.
Note: When Virgin sort the problem out you should reselect the "No proxy" radio button.
Hope this helps.
Try this below for proxy settings. I found I could log in and all ok. I couldn't get into the forums though.
Taken from VM forum.

Step 4 In the Port box, type the port number that is used by the proxy server for client connections (by default, 8080).
Step 5 You can click to select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box if you do not want the proxy server computer to be used when you connect to a computer on the local network.
Step 6 Click OK to close the LAN Settings dialog box.
Step 7 Click OK again to close the Internet Options dialog box.

This has been taken from the VirginMedia forums and people have been able to access the game only but not the forums:
Please make sure that you make a note of any existing proxy settings first!
Clear your internet browser history, cache, cookies and temp files, making sure you are not on the main TSO page at the time.
This only works with either Internet Explorer or FireFox. Chrome users will not be able to configure a proxy.

sadly i got access denied on both firefox and IE. becareful to note what settings you were on before tampering with settings guys. time for me to go get a strong glass of something and curse and swear at that not this. sorry you lovely peeps at UBI are getting the brunt of another companies faults. i'll raise a glass or 10 at you for your patience.
Definitely have one for me please psephony! The other thing to do is to clear all internet history, cache, temp files and cookies - making sure you are not on the TSO page at the time, along with the above mentioned settings changes.
Chrome users will not be able to configure a proxy.
Actually, they can. If they go to Settings-->Show advanced settings there's a place in Network to change proxy settings.
We were trying to keep it as simple as possible iridium21 :) Chrome picks proxy settings from the same place as IE, but can be a bit difficult to get working so we thought it best to run with both IE and FF as the problem is only expected to last until Sunday PM :)
Latest update we have from the Virgin Media forums is that the issue is still ongoing, it is not affecting all users but those who are routed through one specific data centre. Unfortunately, they will not disclose which data centre is affected. We will post updates as we get them from the VM Forums.
It's working now.... Yipee!!!!
Without Proxy.
Reports on the Virgin Media forums now indicate that the problems they were experiencing have now been resolved. Users should be able to remove their proxy settings and go back to normal without any loss of service or connectivity. Please note that after removing your proxy settings, you should clear your internet browser cache, cookies and temporary internet files and restart your machine before connecting to our sites.
