View Full Version : Pathfinding in sector 3
When you try to clear sector3 the 3 most left camps, including the leader, can not be reached without getting intercepted. The medium camp from sector6 that is peeping under the fog wil intercept. i tryed variouse locations foir the garison. The one marked in the combat guide stil is best option. But interception will take place once you reach the tree just underneath the medium camp. ever position more nothern then the one shown will only get you closer to the medium camp.
This is a very negative side effect from the new pathfinding system. This is unfair to new players. They are forced to take out a medium camp before they should.
Please fix it.

I am also having the same problem, prior to the changes I managed to take out camps 4 and 5 without interception, now that the route has been changed I cannot get to camp 6 without being intercepted by the medium camp. This is extremely annoying and very unfair as players who defeated sector 3 prior to the change did not have to attack the medium camp. I hope this problem is fixed soon.
I am having the same issue..cant get past that camp

I think I have thought up a way to avoid the medium camp, although I'm not massively experienced at this game so I could be wrong.
I'm doing this sector now, I've just cleared camp two and will clear camp one next.
After that having cleared camps 1 & 2 my plan is to clear 3, 4, 5 and 6 in one go, so I'll send one big force straight at camp 6.
It will get intercepted by camp 3 first and I think that intercept will bring the army down out of the range of the medium camp. This is the key point, if that doesn't work my plan won't work.
The army then goes on being intercepted by camps 4 and 5 before going onto camp 6 to win!
This would obviously need a very strong army, using combat sims I think something like 125 Militia 75 Cavalry would work.
What do people think? Would this plan work?
But even if this does work the medium camp intercepting still is unfair on new players. If I hadn't seen this thread I wouldn't have thought about it and would almost certainly got slaughtered by that medium camp.
This might indeed work.
But might be more intresting to simply block the medium camp
The new path finding is terrible, you don't want to be attacking any medium camps before finishing off the easy ones. The path that is plotted is quite a scenic route and that rogue intercept really puts a kink into the dynamics of the game. Furthermore the medium camp on the border of sec3 is under the fog so I can't even select it yet! Of course bugs like this are not picked up on the test server because the map has been already cleared.
Sadly i had done already camps 1-3 so couldn't do what Olivia_Faye suggested and now i'm on a same situation too.
I was building my troops suitable for zone 3 and it all went well for first 3 camps. Was following little bit the combat guide but added also some cavalry to my troops cos they seemed to lower the maximum kill count to my troops. I was going to attack 2 last camps before Bert with something like this: 80Cav+80R+40B or something similiar but i dont think i'm doing that in a little while then :(
Can any of you suggest lowest death count setup to go with that medium camp please? (i'm lvl21 atm)
My army is atm: 110R 85B 90Cav... and still got 72 free settlers to use for army to mix them up and hopefully make some more usable troops against that medium camp.
Thanks :)
Same problem here. In Sector 3 there was an easy camp in that small outcropping of trees, so it seems utterly rediculous the game forces you to make a beeline to Sector 4, and attack the two medium camps, before you can proceed.
BB seems to be keeping quiet about this on here. I thought it might have been addressed in the bug fixes lastnight, but it would seem changing the colour of the preview path takes precedence over functionality.
please do something about this path !

Having the same problem - there is clearly enough room to avoid the medium bandit camp in Zone 6, but the path it plots from your Garrison always takes you through the intercept zone.
I had the same problem, attacked the medium camp with 200R, lost around 80R. But you will level up to 23 :P
Someone in chat suggested that moving the garrison could avoid the sector 6 interception. I think he said that the garrison needs to be to the South West of the location shown in the preceeding example, somewhere down the bottom of the peninsular with the Eastern-most copper mine.
I have no idea if this works, as I cleared sector 3 before the path change.
The combat sim recommends sending 200 rec against that camp in sector 6 (60 thug, 120 dog) to win with a loss of 81 rec. You're gonna have to take that camp at some point, so while it may be an annoyance in taking sector 3, it will help take sector 6 later.

Same problem. I've tried a few different positions for my garrison, but my general keep being intercepted by the medium camp hidden in the fog. Annoying!
There is no way you can prevent being interecepted by this camp. I tried it on the testserver and every location i tried had the same result.
So i would suggest to built 200 recruits and whack him.
