View Full Version : Silo work route bug
I hope someone can help me with this as it is driving me mad! I've tried to put some silo's to good use so I can run 4 farms off a single wheatfield, but for whatever reason it won't work. I've built a wheatfield in S9 and built 4 farms and 4 silo's directly around it. The farms work exactly as they should and harvest the field in the centre. But the silo's are going off to replenish fields all the way down in S3. This causes a stupidly long production time. I was led to believe that a silo replenishes it's nearest wheatfield?
Hopefully this image will show you what I mean....

I understand what you are trying to do here but four silo'scant replenish just one wheafield so in theory you need four fields one for each silo, so what happening is one silo is working on that field you have there now and the other three are going to find the next available fields to replenish if you know what I mean as one field can still only work once on every cycle.. Also rather that placinf four silo's there wouldnt it have been better just to have one and then level it up to three to save on space and just put the some fields on there place and move them somewhere else.
Im not completely sure what I am saying is right but its the only logical explanation, as the silos need one field per silo per level as well, so level 3 silo would need three fields to replensish, 4 silo's at level one would need four fields.
Hope this helps and answers your question.
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately that's not it. All 4 silos are going to the same field in S3. There are also others in my guild who have got this working no problem and this guide also confirms it being possible.... http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/14993-The-Silo-and-how-it-works

Oh right ok mate, sorry I couldnt be of any more help then, good luck buddy.
You only need one wheat field there, but - when that field reach a number of 200, 400 or 800 wheat, which was the amount you built the field with, the silo will find another field, that has not reached it's maximum and work on that one.
Its because the wheatfield beside the silo REACHED maximum capacity of 400, and it will automatically go to next nearest wheatfield.

Agreed and proved. If the wheat field has hit it's maximum then it will find an alternative. What you *may* have (I say may) is that your farm production times are marginally longer than your silo's, so your silo's are keeping the wheat field topped up without any time issues and every now and again you get a 'spare' wheat that gets sent miles away.
