cant seem to get onto level 17

iam stuck on level 16 at the moment and trying to get up to 17,i have to attack the enemy to get more xp points.
1 , how can you tell what your xp points are in the game.
2 , everytime i build an army to attack an easy bandit camp,they dont last long and i end up with noting but a tired general

Hi funkygibbon1,

1) The green bar underneath your avatar indicates the amount until you level.
2) Plan your attacks and build plenty of recruits. Take a look at this link (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/14821-Important-links), hope it helps :).

Your characters portrait at the top left of the screen (above your player name), the green xp bar is between your portrait and your player name.
