View Full Version : "Auto Stop building production when its buff is over"

It would be a great help if there is an option like "Auto Stop building production when its buff is over".
Valuable production such as gold needs to be continuously buffed in order to gain profit.
The reason why so many players don't actually build it is that they will lose more resources if they won't buff or pause its production. Not all players have the ability to log-in anytime they want just to buff certain building. I don't think it takes a complicated programming just to add a function like that, so I hope it'll be implemented in the game soon ;)

This would be great, as i have many a time logged in to find my gold mine/smelter running un-buffed, as i have forgotten i had them running.

Also liking an idea long this lines. I'd prefer a "Run only when buffed" option as this would mean that friends could buff a building and it would re-start :)

-1. SOrry but this automates the game way too much and my understanding of settlers is that you control it - not that it controls itself

Bad idea. Seen a few games go down that road it kills them.

-1 you will have to do something in this game. It almost is running without you have to do anything.

Hi,

I'm suggesting a checkbox in the building form with which you can set the building's behaviour to only to become active when its buffed and automatically goes to sleep when the buff expires.

What do you think?

suggested several times already
http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/19220-quot-Auto-Stop-building-production-when-its-buff-is-over-quot

I think this will never happend, it keeps people not log in, and it's like having another building level.

Would be great if the building details tab had an extra button to stop production when a buff that is currently running on that building ends.

Very useful for the fairytale castle - no more wasted beans!

Won't happen ;) BB have all those artic, industrial mines, granite pits and nurseries to sell after a maintenance over run :D :D

Why not just ask BlueByte to play the game for you!

I agree with tierarzt...
there's lotsa little tweaks could be implemented but stuff like this is all part of the game.
in this instance u have to be tactical about what buffs to use and when, so that u know u'll be around when they end if needs be. don't think we really want a game that can totally run on auto pilot :)

ok so things can go a little haywire as Larili mentioned, but its just a game. annoying I know, but not the end of the world!

On the building's windows there would be a checkbox:
Stop building after the buff is over.

I think it would help rest of us

Come on, it is your island, you do what needs doing, not the game itself. What next, auto completing adventures?

OMG so many people are like yes i want building to stop when buff runs out

BAD idea, Not everyone has everything buffed all the time and run things unbuffed so what would that mean??? them wont work unless you buff it seems silly to me as if you have correct eco balance you dont need buffs unless want extras out of production buildings.

also why are so many wanting basically it seems like the game played for them? i want this stopped when buff runs out its to costly etc, simple sleep the thing if buff/mine will die before you go to bed or add a refill in it to make it last longer there are ways around it rather than having it stop as buff no longer on it,

as for the FT castle comment seriously if you buff that with a hotdog/rainbow whatever at least do it at a time you know you will be in game when it is due to run out OR before you start your castle off send the excess beans over what buff would use to a friend in trade get them to decline trade so it stays in your mail until the buff over, castle sleeping and safe to have them in storage and not worry about them getting wasted, (thats if decline trades still stay in your mail personally i wouldn't know as never use that method myself)

the game is not meant to be all automatic done for you and mostly needs patience than anything to play the game.
It is your island to be how you want it, some want buffs all time some done etc a few want things sleep when buff runs out again that would affect them who like running with things unbuffed so personally i dont feel this is a good idea at all from any the previous threads all merged to one

When making suggestions one needs to look at the opposite side of of the coin, anyone favouring this idea has failed to do that. If they had looked they would have included what they wanted to happen if the coin was the other way up. In this case it could cost you resource's you don't want used.

there is no point in that for effect why not just double the amount of the resources found as only work when buffs is the same thing!

I agree with most of the comments I saw above - I don't want a game that I can play like a 'bot' - I'll manage things myself, thank you.

Hi,
would be nice if there is an autobuff key for each building.
For example, I want always my gold mines buffed with aunt irma's feast. So, would be great build the mine and already it is buffed if I have enough buffs in the star menĂ¹ (and maybe if one buff expires, the autobuff buffs again that building).
Thank you
Bye

How is the game going to know that a building which has not even been built yet will be one that needs a buff.

If you don't like spending time managing your island, this is not a game for you.

Thank you for the suggestion. As it's been noted by other players, we are very careful about not making the gameplay of "The Settlers Online" too hands-off and automated. This is largely a design choice, as we want players to make a deliberate conscious input when it comes to managing and maintaining their island.

Thank you for your answer.
I only tried to think a way to reduce the daily boring repetive "clicks", I'm talking about the things that are always the same, every day, where no need "put the head" to think, but only "automate" the arm and the finger to click, not a way to reduce the gameplay or "bot" the game, but it is only a my idea (and I see, from the answers of the other users, that I'm the only one with this idea :D ).
It's ok, I appreciated that you answered me.
Have a good work and good evening.
Bye

Problem:
- Many varieties of buffs, workshop-specific buffs and therefore staggered *buff duration* throughout your isle
- Real life, sleeping, rare game unavailablity can result in workshops continuing production, unbufffed
- 'Expensive' production chains mean running unbuffed is costly, or unbalances production (e.g. wheat fields exausting on farm/silo unbalance, high level mines running unbuffed, costly materials 'wasted' during unbuffed production periods)
- Applicable to a range of player levels

Proposal:
- For all workshops, have a (default to 'off') toggle which can be user selected per workshop to 'production runs only whilst buffed'

Note the objectives for this suggestion:
- to be easily implemented
- selection of appropriate buffs remains game-able, to ensure optimal production runs and timings
- reduce player frustration

This sounds very useful. Last "Time out" I ran out of a few precious resources, and missed maximum value, because the production centres were unbuffed

hi,

don't have the time to read all posts - so appologizing in advance:
how about stacking buffs on a building and if pressing the stop button - stop the buffing as well.
