View Full Version : Helping friends/guildies is a great way to get them banned. Why?
Hello!
I want to say I'm quite fond of this game. I really like it - play almost everyday for few months now. I support it - bought quite a huge chunk of gems and I dont regret it. I have fabulous friends in guild and having a great time around. I like it becouse even though game is based on simple idea, there are many ways to enjoy it. Some like to trade, some like to level up and play adventures. I'm enjoying micromanaging my empire and see it flourish - Im a hoarder and have full stockpiles of most resources most of time. I know it's not the most optimal way to play it and level up - but its what I enjoy.
Anyway, I joined a guild some time ago - it has a bunch of great helpfull people and I enjoy this game even more after that. We are all guildies so we act like guildies - we help each other with adventures, give usefull tips and trade resources at discounted price.
I discovered I really like helping my friends therefore when somewhen needs some items I have abundance of, it happens that from time to time I sent them 400 HWP (or sth similar) for 1 fish - I just give them resources or sell them way below market - I can afford that.
Some time ago one of my guildies got banned. When that person returned we all learned that this kind of help is considered pushing by BB and if they will continue doing so, they will get perma ban.
This saddens me deeply, becouse if i am to follow this rule, I am going to miss one of the things I enjoy here - guild atmosphere and feel of community. I'd like to ask some questions though and would love to get some answers please.
1. What are the guilds for? If we arent supposed to help each other - how it is different then asking for tips in global-1 or sending trades in global-3?
2. I haven't seen anywhere in the FAQ/requirements post one that condemns that practice. I've seen plenty where it's forbidden to have 2 accounts on same IP and using one to push other - I'm fully for that regulation. But why - If I have earned my resources rightfully - am I not able to sent them to friends for any price I see fit?
3. There is a possiblility to sent "Gifts" to friends. By gifts I mean gem-bought items that are sent to friend completelly out of charge. It is even more of that "pushing" if you ask me. Some of those items are way more powerfull then 400 HWP i sent for free from time to time. It seems very hypocritical for me. Could you please tell me how those 2 situation are different (sending gem bough geologyst vs sending some free resources)?
Thank you,
MaaD

Completely agreed. I often send stuff to guild members, since I produce more than I use. If people get banned for trading 400 hwp for one fish, then at least make some rules about the trading BB. Tell us what is allowed and what isn't. 400 fish for one gold coin is fair? How about 400 wood for 2 fish then? Or 3 fish? What is considered fair trading? In a free market, the worth of a commodity is based on the rarity. So if I have 40K bread in stock, it's worth almost nothing to me. What's the problem with selling it for one fish to a guild member who is hungry?
pushing [ˈpʊʃɪŋ]
adj
1. enterprising, resourceful, or aggressively ambitious
2. impertinently self-assertive
I see nothing in the explanation of the adj. worthwhile a ban.. Did see some thing about full recourses, or was it resourcefull...

i can understand why the mods wouldnt look favourably at selling 400 of whatever for one fish as this would give that person an unfair advantage to lvl up quicker than others playing the game fairly but i do think there should be a set rate that you could trade to

Thank you MaaD for this thread
In certain instances i can see that trading for 1 fish is not acceptable. BUT it is acceptable to send a Gift and there are no restrictions on how many if you have enough gems. Players can buy as many gems as they can afford there is no ceiling. It seems unfair that only Gem purchasers can send resources as gifts.
IT IS, acceptable to BB as part of the completion of Daily Quests or Guild Quests this was confirmed in a statement made on behalf of BB.
So BB please could we have answers to the following questions as a matter of urgency I would not want to break the rules or others in my Guild.
1. So are we able to send trades for 1 fish (Gifts)?
2. Are players allowed to borrow resources.
3. We run a lottery in our guild and give prizes which are sent for 1 fish. Donations are made to the lottery for 1 fish. Does this have to stop?
4. We have a pay it forward initiative in our Guild. I am level 44 and a much lower level sent me sausages yesterday (yes i needed them I had given mine away to people with a guild task asking for sausages) their action though was not to complete a guild task but to help me because I had) Is this wrong?
Banning people for doing something they may not know is wrong and indeed how could they possibly know when rules are not made clear on the subject.
its just BB kicking em self in the......if its not allowed to help low lvls anymore , most of em will leave the game again...i know i would if i didnt had some help in the beginning.Waiting for resources several days to build something, wont make people stay in this game...guess they wont change anything, just look at comming event...small farm gives 1 gem every 8 hour, big farm gives 1 gem every hour, again small players will get behind even more
pushin means, you have more than 1 account, and you give resources other account to your main account. (same server)
Helping friends shouldn't bee illegal.
Other thing is, if you friend accidently or purposed made reverse trade, and thats scamming

I partially agree with you. By sending by friend resources for free I am giving him advantage. But is that unfair advantage? Those resources I have not created out of thin air. I had to create/trade them myself. Therefore I'm trading my chance to level up for his chance to level up. This is pretty common in any other game. Hows that different in any other MMO for example when I'm helping low lvl friend finish hard quest. I'm trading my time and resources I could use for my character progression for my friends character progression. I simply don't get how it is unfair or cheating in any of those situations.
Having said that, I'm not here to make the rules. I may not like them but I have no other way but to comply to them if I want to play this game. Trouble is - I never have known that this thing is illegal in this game. I feel this is not right to ban some random players in order to try to enforce them. I'd also be glad to know what is the official BB statement regarding this issue. If this is really true that we are not supposed to help our friends for free, I'd like to ask for some kind of official list of minimum prices to ask for any resource. I know it sounds a bit ridiculous but this situation is very unclear to me.

Thank you for your response.
Let's get this straight: If I happen to want to sent all my resources to guild members cause I want to (and those are large quantities 40k+) for basically nothing - I'm not violating any rules and conditions. They are also not violating any rules by accepting those trades. Is that right? I, of course, assume my resources are all legally obtained and recipients of my help are some random ppl all over the world that are my friends/ guildies.

Since writing my last post I have been informed by one of my members they had already taken this up with BB this was the reply.
"There is no issue with you trading like that. Pushing only occurs when it's one player doing it with several accounts."
He also tells me that somewhere on this forum he received an answer including the following wording I am not claiming this is a direct quotation (spelling)
"there have been a few banned accidently for legitamate trading and they do get compensated"
Clearly there is a difficulty in policing this practice for no-one should be banned accidentally and presumably the player banned has to account for his trading and maybe prove he does not have more than one account. Or does BB go back through that persons trading and check more thoroughly? If so they should do this in the first place before the banning. Just give a warning and the player a chance to reply.
Lots of families play this game is little jimmy age 7 going to get banned because daddy sends him resources for 1 fish? Please re-assess the way you deal with dual accounters BB as the above post says slightly differently lol, you are shooting yourself in the foot.

I would like to make it clear that a MOD has no way of knowing if a player is "pushing" or not only BB employees can investigate such claims

i didnt say that the mods would know players were pushing,
I sincerely hope that this is a misunderstanding.
I know full well that 'pushing' is illegal, and should be stamped out of the game, but I see no problem with Guilds and friends helping players out through the more tedious stages, surely that's what the system was designed for?
I hope the trade in parrots gets such rigorous scrutiny.

Hello all,
As my predecessor clearly mentioned right here (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/19021-Pushing-Ban?p=191227&viewfull=1#post191227), we will never ban for helping guildies out.
"Pushing" is an entire different subject, it is evidence of multi-accounting, this does indeed require a ban.
Mistakes were done on our part in the past but things have been corrected since then.
We encourage nothing more than to help your friends and enjoy the game with your guildies.
If you feel you have been banned unfairly, you are free to discuss and contest this with Support right here (http://www.thesettlersonline.com/en/help-and-support).
Hope this clears things a little.
Thread is now closed.
Best regards
