View Full Version : Artesian Well and Packed Wheatfield rebuild

As we know - we can demolish and build again fully replenished field or well.
Who tried to demolish depleted well/field? Would we get it into the star menu, or waste them?

Actually, there seems to be a problem (at least with Artesian Wells). I wanted to move mine, so demolished it, it returned to star menu but when i tried building it again, the settler started working on it but stopped in the middle. So I couldn't build it again.
Same here - the well starts building then disappears and is in my star menu again :)
I wanted to know what exactly is the deal with those fields/wells -
so that I know if they are worth buying from the market.

I set a lvl5 well and field with 20 farms around on my TSOtest to check.
I hope BB can help and describe how field/well use to work.
*It looks on TSOtest demolished well/field dissapears...

OK, To answer a few things:
1. If you have problems re-building a Well/Feild, relog and try again (or visit somewhere and return). Should fix the star menu glitch.
2. Yes you can Demolish an Artisan Well or Packed Wheatfield before it exhausts, it will return to Star Menu, where you can build it again and it will be full again.
3. They are worth having if you have the cash to spare for a few reasons:
3a. They do not use the build que, so you can have 100 of them building at the same time (no waiting to que them up 1 at a time).
3b. They have 6k capacity, which means they last longer = less time spent rebuilding. Especially Packed wheatfield which is 7.5 times more than lvl2 Field most people build. IE. Packed wheatfield lasts 7.5 times longer than normal feild, and can be rebuilt almost instantly without using build que.
3c. Saves a VERY SMALL amount of resources, as they are free to build.
Buyers:
They are best used by people who don't have Silo's, but have lots of farms to feed constantly, and a lot of gold to spare to buy them.
Sellers:
Newbies who really have no use for them at all, as they have very few farms, that are max level 3. But could make much more use of the gold they are worth to sell.
My advise: Seriously consider selling it, unless you don't need the gold.
Cheers

So, what if I'm late and demolish them after depleting - have you checked that?

No, I have not checked that. But I'm fairly sure if it exhausts, it's gone for good. So don't let that happen.

So we have to wait for one who was too late to stop his well... ;)
...or BB answer, I hope.
Could do with knowing this for sure as well, they have the explosive icon in the details box just like a noble house bought from the trade. surely u can demolish it when it depletes and it should go str8 to the star menu to put down again. Otherwise why would u spend valuble granite and exotic wood when u get to build them at higher levels?
My guild friends tried everything and heres your solution.
If you remove it while theres still resources in it, it goes to your star menu and AFTER refresh, you can rebuild it with its FULL capacity.
If you let it die (0 resources), its GONE for good.
... AFTER refresh, you can rebuild it with its FULL capacity...
What do you mean with "AFTER refresh". Is this the same as logout and login again?

To clarify:
Only the 'Packed Wheatfield' and 'Artesian Well' from the Birthday gift pack have the yellow *splat* and say they will return to the Star when demolished.
The ones in the Merchant do not work that way, they have no *splat* and do not say they will return to the Star, though keeping them in Architecture with all the Deeds that do return to the Star is misleading.
Whether BB intended the Gift items to work this way is unclear and until they say "We did mean them to be reused, enjoy and Happy Birthday." or "Oops, this was a mistake but keep them anyway and enjoy." or "This was a mistake we are working to fix, don't expect it to last." we can only play with what we have. They are lovely and I do hope they stay.

At level 49 we can build the Tightly Sown Wheatfield (800 Wheat) and at level 50 the Bottomless Well (3000 Water) in the Build Menu, they're just regular buildings.

For now at least just demolishing them before they empty returns them to the Star and refills them. They do sometimes stick on rebuilding and refreshing usually fixes that. As it does so many things.
'Refresh', the rounded arrow on the browser bar or often F5, reloads the current page without your needing to relog entirely.
All that said, we still don't know what happens if the Gift items are allowed to deplete entirely (and fall down,) it may be a while before someone tests that.
My mistake, apparently someone has:

There we are then.
Ok thanx for the info, I work all day during the week, and I got 5 wells so I cant afford to let these run dry! Im guessing 6000 water lasts 4-5 days?
Didnt realise the wells and fields u get at level 49 and 50 were only level 3 buildings. Surely with these being level 4 youd think they would return to the star menu once depleted but Im not gonna let them run dry to find out, lol.

As you are not 100% right with "refresh" thing, I hope you are not right with "gone if depleted".
Iolanthe clarified a lot here - mainly about "splat" (or star - like i.e. recycler).
Now - do Birthday 'Packed Wheatfield' and 'Artesian Well' leave just regular exhausted well / exhausted field (and supposed to be lost then) or maybe exhausted well / exhausted field which could be back to star menu?

Still hope for oficial BB reply in monday about this :)

Just had a report that they don't go back into star menu any more when demolished. Haven't tested it myself.

I just tested demolishing a partially used packed wheatfield and it returned to my star menu.
It could be that the person who gave you the report had some lag. I'd suggest swapping to a different island and back or refreshing.
I have just noticed that the last requester when demolishing a field is different for these. Normally it says "Tear down building", one of my packed fields said "Knock down recurring ", the use of that last word indicates to me that it is intended to be reusable. Unless somebody can show me otherwise English law backs up my view.

Knock down recurring suggests the fields can be reused.

You can knock it down and build again, it will be full again. I tried it twice, it works. Before building, you have to leave your island to refresh, otherwise it builds around 10% and disapperas back to star menu.
Question is what happens if it is depleted, some people say it can be revived as well, I have not seen a proof for that.

Does the same process work for the artisan well too?
Actuallty i had both my wheatfields run dry because i didn't realise they would return to the star menu, i thought they were just one offs, but after they became exhausted i was suprised to see them in my star menu again so it looks like they will just reappear after being depleted

That was I wanted to know. I hope BB would leave it with no any changes (there are some rumors it's a bug) - any official BB state about this pls?
As we still have no word from BB it finally occurred to me to check the German forum... apparently this has happened before as a bug and was 'fixed' at some point. A quick keyword search of "Artesischer Brunnen" (Artesian Well) will pull up many threads and Google Trans, whilst once again struggling, gets there in the end. There are a few reports of the "Ergiebiges Getreidefeld" (Prductive Cornfield, our Packed Wheatfield) behaving the same way.
Of course this still does not Officially confirm, deny, or even acknowledge anything but it doesn't bode well.

Hello guys,
I can confirm that this is a bug, once depleted, it should vanish. It should not return to the star menu.
Thanks for your crucial feedback, this bug has been sent and reported to the appropriate department and will undergo a thorough investigation.
Best

And it took you three days to say that. I bought 15 Packed Wheatfield, spent a fortune for them.:mad:

If you must know
don't love, but I work every weekend
And then 4 day cuz they sent gifts 10.1.
I think he's saying that your expectation that BB employees should work over weekends is unrealistic.
It was obviously a bug. Your fail, so don't complain about it.
