View Full Version : Wheat depleting even though production is in the positive
My Wheat production is in the positive yet it is disappearing ... Is anyone else having this same issue? I have tried searching the forum for info but didn't find anything. Have sent a ticket to support so I hope the gremlins eating it all are stopped soon !!
Try pausing some production for a small amount of time until your stocks rise to a level above 100, then try turning things back on again and ensure it's still in the green, see if that helps at all and let us know
could be rounding issues in production calculations or having some farms buffed part of the time- but yes, production figures for 12 hrs do not always match your perceptions of how the inventory is developing. TBH, i never paid that much attention to it to the point of writing down numbers, production figures and comparing if production estimate is indeed added to inventory or not, but i do have the feeling there are some issues with the figures and hence i take em as indications more than anything
One other thing can flaw the figures- esp with wheat usage. If you use heat for both flour and for stables and you are/have been short of water when you checked the production figures- the calculation could show you figures without taking 100% production of the stables into account as some of the stables might be idle due to lack of water. Same issue can arise from any chain that has multiple resources used

i think mostly the issue is, that if you can not trust the figures, you need to go an alternate route to ensure you optimize your production/balance the production chains to run positive without overproducing stuff and using licenses that could be more useful in other production chains- not as much what inventory levels you have/if you have enough to run on
When you see this happening, be sure you aren't upgrading buildings (in this case farms), because when a building upgrades, it has temporarily no production.
However this is not reflected in the economy overview.
I'm having the same issue. Two days ago, my wheat was just below 2k. Yesterday it was somewhat above 1k. Today, it's 750. Nevertheless, wheat production is showing a positive green arrow (+80). Settlersonlinetools.com gives the same calculation when I input my 15 farms, 1 stable, 1 friary and 4 mills. I have plenty of water, so stable and friary are always supplied with water. I first thought it was imagination, but I am very certain now that my wheat supplies are seriously dropping even though the calculated production is positive.
As others have said you also need to factor in if you are applying any buffs, if anything is upgrading and if anything that has a wheat dependency is capped out... But, this is what I did way before the economy overview came in when I thought the same thing was happening to me :
Ensure all fields constructed.
Make note of wheat stock level and time.
Repeat every half an hour for the rest of the day ensuring any depleted field is replaced.
It was the "YoYo" effect that you get from fields depleting and farmers taking wheat from a field further away, I wasn't rebuilding them constantly so the reduced productivity, even for a short time, was having an effect on my stock level. The base production on farms is 12m and a lot of dependant structures are a lot quicker than that, the travel time increasing on a bunch of farms when a single field drops can dramatically alter your productivity, especially when you take in to account that the level of the farm is a huge factor in both productivity and the rate of depletion of your fields.
