View Full Version : New trade system messages, as implemented on test

I'm one of those that think the idea is rubbish, but there are also those that like it.

I thought it would be interesting to see in a poll how people feel.

You know how I feel about it. ;) Vote no people before it's too late!

For reference purposes there are two other threads related to this :

This forum : Are you ready for a game breaker ? Well here it comes. (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/22398-Are-you-ready-for-a-game-breaker-Well-here-it-comes.)

I've been asked why I made it a public poll... It's because I think that whatever way you feel about it you should stand for your choice. If you never trade, this will not affect you (there is a "do not care" option"). If you trade sometimes it will not have much of an impact. For those that trade a lot it will make a difference

I'm seriously grumpy about this, others like it. If I thought that this was wanted, which can only be shown by people saying they like it - I'll accept the change.

I can see why some people want it - and therefore I would like those that do to also add their voice.

I have no clue why one would need to get a mail while using the trade office; there is anough lag on the server already and the new trade system will only add more!

the only thing i'd like to see is an up to date trade office history, as now some trades or expirations are just lost. If the history would be 100% correct (and maybe quite a bit longer), i would not see any reason to get a mail on a trade office trade

I agree... I am baffled as to the necessity. From what I can see from BB's responses on test - it is a "band aid" for those that have bugs with current trade system + a way of "mollycuddling" those that use TO and do not understand it (Please note - I have acknowledged that the current TO has bugs, and those should be fixed imo. But... and this is a big "but", why make a solution that is a nuisance to many players instead of fixing current issues?)

To get an email for each trade like on testing server is really annoying. It also generates more traffic on network which increase players' problems (as we also some time facing some lags).

It stinks of somebody getting the wrong end of the stick again, I don't want to see anything in this form appear, as it will only have to be 'fixed' later on.

89% say no ..... comment from BB?

I don't think BB will be impressed by a total of 46 voters (voters count at this moment).

Take a look at this post on the test forums (http://forum.tsotesting.com/threads/18121-Trade-and-e-mail.....?p=15104&viewfull=1#post15104)

It will take more time for BB to reply... In fairness - "our BBs" need to wait for BB developers/headquarters. There's been bank holidays in Germany last few days.

Guess so .. though the reply from BB_Slash contains the inevitable "As far as I know" .. in other words he is making a massive assumption that he cannot back up, so the 46 votes we know to be a fact are actually more relevant.

50 now btw ...

If the 2.56% of votes in support of this (09:55 GMT 14/02/13) is anything to go by and this makes it live I wish I had a gem for every *facepalm* that happens when people log in and see the change.

I've been asking in Global-1, asking guild mates, asking friends and the only thing I can add to this over what's already been voted for and said in the three threads is a tiny increase in the "Don't care/Makes no difference either way" camp and a massive increase in the "I don't like it" camp.

If this change hits live then I'm going to use the tools that I've been given to the best of my abilities... That's all I'm going to say.

Just read the similar thread on the test server

It's obvious why BB have done it - not because it was asked for but because lots of people said they weren't getting their trades.

So, this is a bug fix. The suggestion on the test server that people "asked" for this feature is just a bald-faced lie. They asked for the bug to be fixed!

Yet another example of recent typical behaviour of covering their own backs by pushing bugs onto the players.

If they want to email people confirmation of trades, that's fine. But why add an OK button as well. Just have an email telling you about the trade! Could and should be done for direct people trades, too.

yup, fix the trade history rather than implementing another sticking plaster please BB!

Hello guys,

This is a good poll, I have noted your concerns and have sent them to the right departement.

I cannot guarantee any changes unfortunately but will keep you updated if I receive any info on this topic.

Best

I don't want a mail every time something gets sold, I trade a lot and it means a whole pile of deleting everyday when there's already enough repetitive stuff to do, like fields, mines, wells.
If I want to see how trades have gone I can look in the history tab.
And what's more,,,, when I do two advs + per day that creates mails too which moslty I delete without looking at them unless there's an issue with a block and I want to analyse the failure.

Can't this be something we could choose to have or not ?
An opt in or out for whether each person wants a mail every trade.

I have tried the new trade system on the test server and i really do not like it. I do a lot of trading and to get a mail every time i have brought a resource would become very frustrating, i prefer the trading system we have now.

Hey pipl, there are some new features due to be added that might help with your issue, you can find more information regarding that here (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/20825-Dev-Diary-20-11-2012), also please see the image below

That's cool, like that, it's really useful... But, that said, it doesn't help with these issues I've posted here and on the test forum :

You get tons of mails that you have to accept.
If you want to trade 10,000 pine wood for 5,000 coal because you need that coal to support production overnight you will run out of coal because you have to accept the mail.
If you have 40,000 storage and put 40,000 coal on the TO for 40,000 granite and cancel the trade the 40,000 coal goes in to your mailbox which means we will all have unlimited production thanks to infinite storage... If you don't like it in your mailbox then wait for storage to cap out and accept the mails so it all goes straight in to your star menu.

I've posted that on the test forum and am reposting here, those are the real issues.

Newbie: Bah! I've hit my storage limit... I'm going to have to sell some coal or upgrade.
Veteran: Nar, just put it in trade for a stupid price, cancel and it'll go in to your mailbox.
Newbie: OMG!
Veteran: Yeah I know... Don't bother upgrading your store houses or Mayors house past level 3, it's pointless.
Newbie: Feels a bit scary storing stuff in my mailbox though.
Veteran: Then wait for your stores to fill up and accept the mail, it will go in to your star menu.
Newbie: OMG! ROFL!

I've looked in to my crystal ball and I have seen the future.

It's kind of you peck_ed to take the time to find this image, and if it reduces the boring repetitive stuff then, great.
Yet the system we have now works, more or less, it would seem that plenty of people agree that other concerns are more important to be dealt with.
And, I still don't want a larger volume of mail to deal with, which is some of what the worry is about surely ?

I just been on test server again for a couple of hours and I have to confirm my initial reaction - this is going to really, really bug me if this comes into effect :(

How many movements and extra clicks a day to accept a trade? BB you'll be giving us all RSI introducing this ;)

I would be very careful about deleteing mails as the trade mail has to be accepted or the goods will not go into your store!
