A simple fix for lag?

I think Ive found a fix for some of the lag in-game.

The trade was hanging all the time and the refresh took ages. So I disabled the hardware acceleration tab - this has certainly fixed the trade refresh lag for me, and it appears other elements have improved this morning since I did this.

So for those of you interested, its as simple as this:


Right-click the screen whilst in the game.

Select Settings...

untick the hardware acceleration box

That's it, all done.

Once you have finished playing the game, you will probably need to switch the accelerator back on for Youtube vids etc..

Weird.. I dont suffer from any lag even when i only use dial up connection..

Best fix: go back to Nerfvember 2012 and reverse what was done then. Simples.

I think this is computer dependant rather than Settlers having lag on the servers. Your computer will download the game and do what it needs regardless, hardware acceleration is just changing how your computer handles it?

So bottom line if you have a good processor and good spec computer this should make no difference being on or off, but if you have an older slower computer it could help.

Like Rendor said, I tried this and made not the slightest bit of difference for me.

my initial post is over a year old, but it did work for me on an older laptop. I now have a new one and no longer seem to afflicted by lag as I used to back then, so your comment is well founded Champs :)
