Guild Market has changed, and I can now buy Gold Fever for 620 guild coins. It gives 3x production on a gold mine for 16 hours.

A normal max level goldmine in an optimal location produces 5 ore in little more than 12 minutes, so <25 ore in an hour and <400 in 16 hours. This is also the difference it makes to using 3x gold fever over 2x baskets, which are practically free.

So why would I spend 620 coins and 16 hours to get 400 ore? I don't get it. Anyone care to explain? Is there a logic behind it that I'm missing here, or are the devs just throwing numbers randomly?

Can the gold fever buff be used by a friend, giving 1,5x duration like baskets? This would be optimally <600 ore (worth 200gc tops) for 620 coins and 24 hours, still not very tempting?

Yes it's a strange item. It's possible it was added to create a floor for the value of guild coins for servers that have reeeally cheap guild coins.

For Northisle though a Red Flying Settler is both cheaper (on the TO), lasts longer, and can be used on any building.

Well, the floor value makes sense. Thanks for the answer. :)
