Taking in consideration the new deadline to complete the chain, do you intend to complete it ? By intend, I mean, you believe you have over 50% chance of completing it and you will actively try to do it.

We understand that only active players read the Forum, but I still believe the results will be interesting.

Please comment if you completed it already ! ;-)

I completed the quest already

11.03.13, 18:56
I did complete it a couple of days ago, i was very lucky.
I am lvl 50, and i got the granite in the first search, and got the granite from the adventures in the first run. and i did have a surprise attack in stock from a mystery box, So the most annoying thing was the waiting time in the production chain quests.

I've completed the quest allready, and I needed about a week to complete. At this moment, 2 or 3 other members of my guild have completed the quest.

We completed it with no problems. (21 persons and counting from my friend circle)

Love to see the success stories... Hopefully there will be more with the extension of time limit It should make it doable for a lot more players:)

btw - did cancel on 2nd day of Quest, level 50. Bought 3 silo's so far and helped a lot of guildies getting there instead. Would I have cancelled the chain if I had 3 weeks, instead of 2 - probably not.

Not sure if I am bothered about cancelling the quest... I would have liked the challenge, but so far have better rewards than the challenge would have provided and have been able to help out along the way. 'Think I'd rather help out.

I didn't get granite in 2 times that I finished bandit nest, and I'm out of resources and time to get new adventure and train more army and maybe don't get granite again or don't get in the last sub quest old friends. This quest is not fair to me.

Baggis
11.03.13, 21:55
Level 49 - completed already. Took 8 ML loots and 6 SA loots to get the required granite but good XP earnt and something different rather than doing Nords and Roaring Bull all the time.

Deleted the quest from my log as soon as I knew the requirements for some of the subquests.

For those who made it: congratulations!!

No, I'm level 37. I don't have the resources to do the required adventures so as soon as the first adventure popped up (step 4 I think) I stopped.

Instead of coming on here and whinging and moaning about an optional quest that I couldn't do I just went back to playing as normal and trying to save up for easter.

i did complete it @ level 47 it took a few motherly love and a quite a lot surprise attack to get it done but it is able to be completed its just personal choice whether you do it or now

I completed it very quickly I was lucky got granite max 2nd attempt. I would have carried on. I missed the quests once i had done them but set about helping overs with mfs and resources. Have done lots of WOTS and IOPs to help too.

12.03.13, 09:52
I voted yes, but just because there was additional time, and because I got granite from Bandit Nest at first try, if I failed Bandit Nest probably I leave the quest.
I'm trying it for the gems, not for water mill... it's funny try it and also to get all those gems...

The most worrying aspect for me (the bad game design of random luck is a given) is the number of experienced players who appear to have done this quest to relieve the boredom more than anything else. Something seriously wrong when repeating an adventure for a random reward drop is the most interesting thing they could be doing! If BB don't come up with more and, crucially, better thought out content, then things look bleak for the future. They have at least been trying with Crisis Quests (more to come it seems) and EotW, but someone who actually understands how the game is being played really must sort out the mistakes they keep making in the planning and execution of these events. Most of the mistakes have not even been bugs, so they are much more easily avoidable if only the designers were taking notice of the feedback they've been given.

Incidentally, I cancelled the quest after seeing the full chain (which I remind people will not have been visible to those who don't visit the forums) because of it needing far too many resources to be worth the reward and because it would be random as to whether I could finish it, regardless of the time factor. I'm glad BB are doing these quests, but they MUST sort out these constant and simple errors in the planning, delivery, communication and content.

Abandoned after it took my explorers 5 days to find goods for step 1.

Additional time came too late...

I thought it would be insanely difficult to finish, yes, it's resource intensive (It's a sink after all) but managed to complete it with 3 days to spare (Before extension was given). And had to do adv a few times to get granite. Overall, hated using the resource so close to Easter Event, but that was it's purpose. Look forward to the next one.

I have just completed the quest chain, got loot at 2nd attempt on Bandits and Old Friends :)

I am on my 3rd attempt to get granite from Bandit's nest - my second attempt lost me all my xbows, elites and some 60+soldiers along with 120 cavs due to lag making my last attack 2nd wave hit first

Later that same day - 3rd time through = no granite = quest chain deleted!

fifth try on bandits nest, no sucess. guild mates of higher level had to do ml for about 15-30 times.... Next time try something with a real sucess ratio for normal players.

Polymer
13.03.13, 05:15
I did complete it in like a week, got granite first attempts usually (1 lootspot swap), only on SA it took 2 swaps. Also few other guildmates on the high tier (lvls45-50) completed it. Most problems are in the tier that requires BN, many players give up after not receiving granite into the 3rd-4th BN done, almost noone completed on that tier. It would`ve been nice to have a 2 player adventure there too.

Took me 9 days to finish up, mainly due to having to do 5 bandits nest! Only 1 old friends so I guess it did even out a bit, I know no one else on my friend list completed this bracket (36-45) and I witnessed some guy selling up last weekend after he failed on 10 bandits nest! Never heard of luck like that, but not worth quitting over! Just cancel the quest!

Don't worry, nobody is quitting, they just say that cause they're angry. I mean I could count more than 10 people who promsied, like a half a year ago already, to quit and they never did :D

Yes, canceling the quest saves a lot of frustration... I can understand.

Yes, it's an adventure you might find in the loot of Witch of the Swamp. You can currently buy it for about 800 coins....

13.03.13, 12:52
Really tried to do this but having taken nearly a week to get granite from treasure searches and then the ridiculous price of Bandits nest meaning I only had one shot at it - I've finally given up on it - shame as the gems would've been useful for the Easter event =/

As I am Level 50 I won't be gaining any xp for doing the adventures. I was able to get my swap for ML and got the granite on the first go. After that i finished the other parts untill i hit the last one Surprise Attack. Well, lootspots are 2000gc each and the adventure itself is 500mf.. so assuming i need three attempts, i have to burn 6000 gc on it.. Strangely enough this is just the same as buying the watermill and silo on the TO.. So i have given up :)
Might have done if I would be gaining xp, but no xp for me.. so.. Bye Bye.

Whilst the idea of the event is commendable and different, relying on a random loot drop from an adventure is the only let down. Let's hope BlueByte learn something from this event and make some changes for the future.

I completed the quest (36-45) in ten days, doing three bandits nest to get granite, eight WOTS to get the two old friends needed to get the granite, so I voted yes for the poll.
However, had the quests in the chain not been disclosed in the forum, I would not have done the quest as I felt you had to plan a head to get it done within the time frame, even with the luck element. So thank you who ever did the quests on the other servers and for those who posted it in here at the beginning of the Four winds thread. :).
I also would not have done the 46-50 quest as the building alone would have put me off ( BB you really need to look at both the cost and production rates of those buildings, maybe if they were special buildings found on some adventures is one thought)
The overall cost to my little island wasn't too bad, the long bowmen were quickly used back up in a couple of WOTS, so in someways not getting old friends and then granite first time was a good thing;) I did lose more soldiers and calvary than was planned when I was booted from the server between sending my blockers and my vet to leader camp in the third bandits nests so I guess it was karma that I got the granite on that go. And lost more on one of the WOTS, my fault, not concentrating and in a hurry. and again in old friends as I had to take out a camp the old fashioned way when the lag just wouldn't let me do the block ( 16 attempts).
What did this teach me? Hoard everything, especially `special' adventures, even if the future quests are not worth doing selling on TO to those that want to, is far more profitable for my island, ( please BB include a SOTV next time around I have a stack of them already, 500 gc a piece anyone?:D)
I still feel bad for those that tried and failed to get the required loot within a reasonable drop rate, this is definitely not good game design and hopefully BB will take this on board after all the posting on the issue.

I've tried bandit's nest twice and haven't got the granite.

I might try again if I can rebulid in time

I quit very soon.

Honestly, building Damascence swordsmith + Crossbows + Titanium smelters (i dont have these buildings and i dont thing i need them) worths more that buying from TO a SILO + WATERMILL and finish with it.

The only possible good thing from this buildings is that they MIGHT come handy in other quests... but meh...

BTW, i got granite in the first search too, and did the ML ls in the first day or something. But then quit.

Though I successfully completed it, it was a stroke of luck (or many strokes of luck!) rather than one of skill and resource.

Waiting for an explorer to find a specific item from a specific hunt, having to find adventures which are only rewards from other adventures AND then having to get specified loot, waiting days for population increases.... all a bit long winded and unfair.

At least remove the chance element and just get the explorer to find ANY adventure on a long hunt. Or one of a set of specified loot.

Give out the required adventures, or at least make it possible to get them easier. Trade Office went mental with those lucky enough to have the required adventures. I did 3 witch of the swamp, with no old friends to show for it. Ended up having to buy one and only luck meant that I got the granite needed first time.

Did really enjoy it though - just make it fairer! It seemed like an exercise to get people to spend money on gems to be able to afford to do it, rather than an effort to improve the game itself....

Level 43- I completed it about a week ago. Had to do Bandit's Nest four times before I got the required granite but only needed to do Old Friends once. This seems to be the case with others I know that have done it.

16.03.13, 11:04
Have to say BB that these event quests were a GREAT change to the normal dailies and the normal event quest lines simply because they were hard to do. I am lvl48 and although have a lot of resources, getting granite from a quest makes it frustrating ( 2 runs on first adv and 1 on the second, 1 was lucky).

BUT...

Thoroughly enjoyed this event, looking forward to more like it.

Congratulations on all those who are so much more "skilled" than me... I have completed 12 Witch of the Swamp in a row trying to get Old Friends, after I had done Old Friends and got Titanium Ore... not to mention those 12 WotS only got me 500 Granite total, the rest was ex wood... :(

Unfortunately, my settling skills are not 1337 enough to get Old Friends from WotS or Granite from Old Friends.

well i booked a trip to london in january for 8th to 12th march. when i reached the first adventure that requiered to loot garanite, i was optimistical then i ended the adventure and got no granite. to rebuild my force to do it again in the first time frame we got was no option. when i came back from london i tried it again, managed it today but with just 3 days left and only a 50% chance to get the granite from the 2nd adventure, left alone to get 120 settlers (15 hours with lp) i don't think that i will be able to finish the quest. i see this quest as a fail in quest design to the guys from Blue Byte in [ Censored ]

English only please,

i gave up on 4 winds as i did 10 bandits nest spent over 8k gold coins on the adventures alone let alone all the resources and all i got as compensation from blue byte as a way of apology was 200 map frags a bit lame but better than nothing i suppose

sslewster
18.03.13, 19:46
Well I did Bandits Nest 9 times burned up 1800 map fragment god knows how many gold coins and improved drill plans still no granite , so I decided with a really bitter after taste of this "fun" quest chain to cancel it.....

all those in a loop of bad luck should try to break it, do a different small adventure or something else between those many many BN or whatever, it is strange to not get a 33% chance granite out of 9 BN

Aerys_TarGaryen
21.03.13, 09:21
i failed to finish on the last quest to find 600 granite from Surprise Attack i had 12 attempts at this and all i got was exotic logs and titanium ore i spent 11k gc on buying map frags and loot spots and swapped loot spots with several people but to no avail which to be frank is ridiculous and if i hadn't invested 15 months to this game i would have quit
