View Full Version : Moderator held information?
As mods we gain nothing new over content to standard players! We just talk with a lot of the players over a lot of the servers, so have a deep pool of information from commonly asked questions!
peck_ed I would hope that as a mod you also get closer access to the Community Managers and as such a little insight into what may be coming in the near future to help you to not set wrong expectations or to assist with key messaging. For example many MODS have proven they have access to better information than us low life players by qualifying questions in chat and coming back with a BB response.
So the fact that a MOD doesn't know suggests its not likely to hit this server anytime soon or BB has an even worse Communications Manager (note communications not community) than I would have expected from an online global games industry organisation.
Edit - Thanks peck_ed for moving to a new thread. I was having a little rant and good to not spoil the original thread. Cheers
I think you might be confusing better contact to people like a CM and sitting in with the Dev team.
Yes we can ask BB for information, no they wont tell us about new features and when they are due out, it's not really needed for us to know, more things about Support and moderation is what we're required for, so I don't think there is an issue with that
I firmly believe it is better this way, stops us leaking silly tidbits out and allows a correct and official release of information via the correct channels
Sorry peck-ed but I totally disagree with you...
Many times before changes take place MODs speak on behalf of BB. Look at the Easter even as an example where MODs were seen to be stating the BB position on number of Vets before any formal response from BB Community Management which resulted in a stated position and then a change. You either get told stuff that is soon to happen or you don't and if you don't then MODs should not go around talking on behalf of BB as if they know more about the game and future activities than the average player. In fact I would go as far as to say they should start most of their comments with; 'In my personal opinion......' so as to avoid any doubt or confusion
I have no doubt information is only allowed to be released through the correct channels - after all even Dantesama has said things like as soon as he is allowed he will share the new Dev Diary - by default that suggests he already knows whats in it and the likely timeline but is forbidden from discussing it with players. If that's not the case then sending all the Global Community Managers to Germany seems like a pretty big jolly but a waste of time and money.
If as a MOD you don't get knowledge, not access, just knowledge of the contents of the next release before us I will be gobsmacked and re-iterates my original point that BB has a pretty dire communications process.
The Veteran General situation wasn't false information from mods or any CM, due to player demand the situation changed as to what BB offered, that was BB listening to feedback and giving the players what they wanted
I will confirm we do not get informed any sooner than the players and will once again state that for us to perform our roles as moderators we do not need that information.
Might I also suggest another thread for this topic as it seems to be derailing the current thread
Thanks
I can confirm that moderators are given enough information to carry out the duties expected of them, nothing more nothing less.
Knowing what is and is not planned for the future does not impact on how we perform those duties. If you feel different that is your perogotive.
Noted and no offence meant peck_ed ;)

I don't think fishslice was accusing anyone of giving misinformation, rather that the feedback from the players provided to BB by the mods resulted in the change.
I don't understand why BB feel they have to play their cards so close to their chests. All it does is give us the impression that they either don't care about the players or they don't actually know which direction the game is going in. Take the image posted on Facebook today. All it says is that it's 'coming at some point this year'. We were told that about PvP and the level cap raise last year, and yet here we are.
Sorry to continue the derail but there's a mutiny brewing, and BB really have to start listening to and responding to their high level "end game" players.
[ Posts Moved ]
This was moved from the Nords 2 thread (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/23469-Nords-2) as it was getting off topic and as discussed with fishslice, we moved to a new thread
^^ and besides my endorsing the above from peck_ed gets my post count up. Another 1,057 posts and I'll be level with you peck_ed... well if you stop posting for the next 5 years and give me some time to catch up :D
I'm not sure this thread is correctly named for what has turned into a discussion about what we're not told, by anyone. Not just mods.

What would you propose and also, what to you is this thread about?
I'm not sure what I'd propose as an alternative title, but to me this thread is to let the powers that be know how unhappy we are with being ignored and with the total lack of information or explanation. As I said earlier on, if BB insist on playing their cards close to their chest then we are going to assume things. And we all know what happens when you assume.
