View Full Version : Side quests - what happens when you cancel them?

Hi,

I'm still a new player so I was wondering about Side quests, and what happens when you cancel them. Are they linked in a chain or are completely independent from each other?

Lots of them have insane requirements for low rewards, such as my current one: The Bet. Complete Outlaws losing fewer than 500 Recruits and Victor the Vicious losing fewer than 50s soldiers. Reward is a mere 290 XP and 400 sausages!!!

I do like to do all quests if possible, to complete everything. But in this case maybe not, so I was wonder what happens when i cancel it; if I get next side quests normally and so on.

Most Side Quests are individual and can be canceled singly but a few are part of chains and canceling one cancels those that follow. It would be nice if the game mentioned this but sadly it does not so I leave those I don't wish to do in my Quest Book, perhaps at some point I'll decide to do them and aside from looking a bit clutter-y they don't hurt anything.

There are a number of "Complete x Adventure losing fewer than x troops", the multiple player Advs ones (like Victor) can be completed by using: Lootspots (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/22037-Guide-Lootspots-and-Lootspot-Etiquette?highlight=etiquette) but only if all players together lose fewer than the specified amount of the specific troops. So, if the Quest says "fewer than 50 Soldiers" that means the total lost, not just the losses of one player. Single player Advs (like Outlaws) on the other hand are entirely on you. It can be interesting finding new troop combinations to keep your losses low(ish) but that's not everyone's cup of tea.

So, most Side Quests open with level-ups or with Main Quests and if you do cancel it don't expect a new one straight away. I can't recall if "The Bet" has follow-up Quests (I really do wish the game said) that would vanish if it's canceled... It may also one day be a Something To Do and if it's gone it's gone forever.

And that's how Side Quests work, I hope something in there helps. :)

That helps a LOT, thank you Iolanthe.

It seems like I'll do all of them. I don't want to lose subsequent sidequests that are linked to one I would cancel :)
