View Full Version : Guild quests "Experience at least 2 new adventures"

We were all welcoming of the 200 new guild quests introduced recently, looking forward to not having to incessantly do IotP every other day. But... over the last couple of weeks it has turned into "experience at least 2 new adventures" every other day! This is not progress.

Maybe it's just an unfortunate sequence (these things happen), which is why I'm starting this thread. Have other guilds/players noticed a similar frequency of this task?

And to be clear why I think it's a problem - I want to play the game with a bit of freedom, I want to enjoy adventures and play them mostly when I want to and not as some daily grind to meet an imposed target. If one is in a guild then one wants to do the best for it, but having a daily grind of HAVING (not CHOOSING) to do adventures and get loot spots is not adding to my enjoyment, it's making it a chore, just like building wells and mines. It's making me seriously think of taking a break from guild membership just to get a break from constantly having to do adventures and loot spots to someone else's schedule instead of my own.

Thoughts?

I actually agree with you, I left a guild because it was being taken to an extreme. I want to be able to play my way and not be dictated to by the guild quests...back then it was iotp, I don't even like that adventure and I felt I was put into a potion of HAVING to do it, again and again and again . Not to mention the expectations being put on people to complete it and quickly (sorry if a ex guild member reads this its not a dig, but it is an area that needs a little work from BB) in the end was just easier to quit the guild. It reminds me of the daily's from WOW... didn't like them much either.

What do you mean new guild quests? I have yet to see anything new. All we seem to get is deposit 1800 meat, buy 1000 water and .... nope, that seems to be it pretty much. The same ones that we have been doing for months. 200 new ones and we have yet to see a single one of those

I agree we have had a lot of 'adventure' quests in our guild, including those where there is an imposed limit on the number of certain types of troops you can use. Luckily my guild is very supportive and not too insistent on everyone finishing on the first day. However those who aren't very experienced at adventures or just don't like adventuring much are getting pretty fed up. We have had to set up an adventure bank, lootspots are being offered but this does mean that the more experienced players are constantly using up resources on adventures so they can offer lootspots to lower ranking players. Adventures once a week or once every couple of weeks is fine just not every day!

We've had 1 player leave the game, as the new quests was just the last drop...

Ofc it could just be chance, but we do seem to get a very large proportion of completing adventures, be it 1 or 2 random ones, IotP or DP. We want the guild to be a nice and supportive place. Somewhere you can relax and enjoy the game. This is becoming difficult to do. (People are feeling bad, as they feel that they are letting other guild members down)
Those that can complete as soon as possible. We have players with time constraints, others have plenty of time.

To me this is a relaxed game. Having daily quests appearing, implies that it should be doable to complete in a day, without spending all your waking hours actively playing. If it is intended that guilds are only supposed to complete 3-4 quests a week - then please provide us with a list of the quests, so that guilds can be allowed to make a judgement of what is achievable, and along with that - return the ability for more than just the guild creator to cancel the quests.

I'd really like to see a list of the quests and what they entail for the different levels

Seen exactly the same as the OP.
Instead of Pirates every other day, now it's "Experience 2 new adventures".
Was hoping for less of these, not more. :(

We just had "experience 2 (not) new adventures" followed by "own at least 3 fingers & an ear" & we have "do IotP" waiting.

There aren't enough IotPs in Sandycove to keep doing this.

I wonder. I really do. I wonder if there's a link between timer resets & a possible random sequencer reset. So instead of a long cucumber of randomness, we keep getting a very short lentil of predictability.

There's always enough IotPs. They're available for map fragments. :-)

But yea. I agree. These quest requirements especially guild quests need to be toned down or removed. They're road blocks to completing guild quest. You can't delete them. Or at least the player can't only the guild leader.

The day I fall of my roof and land on my head, will be the day I use 150 map frags (750gc) in the pursuit of 120 guild coins (240gc)

Beware the vegetables of chance!

We too have been noting an increase in the 'do 2 adv' GQ's recently. As leader I've decided to cancel any upcoming 2-adv GQ for all the reasons you've all mentioned above. I could use some help though, which GQ titles have the 2-adv stipulation? So far I have "Fallen Hero" on my list.

Hi, The Yellow Caravan or level 46 -50 is another. I think there may be at least 1 more.

U can do Shaman or Old ruin adventure and get few Retro adventures in loot. When u next time get that quest just do 2x retro adv, it will take 5 min for both.

what we do on this we do a fast DP adv and swap spots with someone on same quest
2 GQ done at once for about 200ish rec loss & 1 cav and 30 mins max in the adv because of waiting time to land

Still very time consuming, and the 'ideal' adventures for this get fewer by the day, find rate just does not keep up with the frequency of these quests.
very pressurised for those who have to limit their time at the comp, these wouldn't be so bad if there was at least some variety. Instead the same couple of quests just keep on repeating. Either make them more sane, or introduce the 'opt out' button, before any more guilds break apart over these. As usual, a crying shame that all the bug reports and comments were routinely ignored on the Test server, if these had been addressed back then, it would have saved a lot of pain (physical and metaphorical).

As an Guildleader of an small guild, I must say, I haven't seen a single NEW guild quest.

Also, the level 50 players in our guild don't like to waste our Wheels and Carriages, so we have made it sure that we will delete all guild quests needing those.
So, we have as standard message in our guild chat...

Bad GC are "Building a mountain" Quest with carriages.
Bad GC is "The Dragon Rose" Quest with Wheels.

Most of our members now know, just to ignore those quests as they get deleted anyway.

Guildquests are meant to work together as a guild, sure doing 2 adventures is not what everyone wants, but work together as a team and it can be done.
It might take 2 days or more but the end result counts imo
Doing 2 adventures for lvl 46-50 can easily be done. Have an army of 500 or doing an adventure losing less than 500 recruits is far worse for those members lvl 30 and less, especially because they are trying to own their island.

i used to cancel retirement plan because the biggest group had to do 2 adventure, i am not doing it anymore since that group has it *easy* compared to the lvl 46+ and those below lvl 35. Work together and help each other, you're not in a guild to enjoy the benefits only.

I have been in the same Guild for around 2 years now, and as a level 50 player Im sick and tired of having to do 2 adventures every other day. It seems like 5 out of 7 days its an adventure. We are a very active Guild and complete GQ within 24 hours so yes doing 2 dp is not that difficult, but why should I be forced to do them? I love being in a Guild and the teamwork but why should I be forced to do adventures ALL the time. Its supposed to be fun and at the moment its not. I want the freedom to play the game my own way, somedays I set myself up to do a particular adventure and low and behold I have to do 2 adventure on that day, its ridiculous. And have the developers ever thought of introducing co-op adventures into GQ? Why not? Its getting to the stage where Im seriously considering leaving my Guild just because im fed up of logging in every dayand finding I have to do adventures. I know some who also feel the same way. Lots of us like to play FT and do what we enjoy doing. So please wake up BB and give us a break. Anf for goodness sake stop giving up pay 40 carriages!! buildigns which are completely obsolete.Guilds should be a fun way to play TSOas a team, lets try and keep it that way:-)

the best would be if the quests concentrates only targeting the guild, buff quest or find collectibles.. not much but the current quest aint any good at all with
the adventures to do at 50% of times. (for me atleast at lvl50)

I don't do guild quests...but if Ravel can `tease' then I can `poke with a stick'...so I would like to see a list of the `150 new guild quests' just to see that the system is not broken, or that someone has just not mistakenly added a zero to the promise ;):D

It might be that.... 150 new guild quests 'overall'. As I think there are different sets of guild quests depending on your level? SO if there is 5 tiers of guild quests (for 5 level groups), then there really would only be 30 you would notice as new in your level group.

And given that sometimes it says '1' adventure or '2' adventure, or an adventure with no soldier loss (in other words they all look the same but are slightly different), it really may be the case that there are 150 new guild quests, but the diversity and grouping of them has the net effect of appearing to be much less.

As a few of you were asking about GQ and requirements for each level. I thought you might find this link useful
http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/26271-Guide-Guild-Quests-and-requirements

I have left my Guild which I wasnt happy about doing at all but I cant see GQ changing anytime soon and so therefore I had no choice really. Im finding the freedom to play what I want, when I want rather nice. But miss all the guys:-)

You might consider a guild that has no requirements for doing guild quests (nothing about the guild mechanic requires completion of guild quests, so you can still enjoy the rest of the benefits of being in a guild). Just check ahead with them and tell them your situation and see if they are cool with that

Made even more farcical by the number of adventures broken recently, all totally avoidable if the devs would stop reusing maps until they work out how to change settings on new map without it globally affecting the original, cases in point, Landing Zones and Towers.

If the devs will change guild quest mechanism at any point in the future, i really hope they first start with an option individually, either to play the gq/turn it off,
so it doesnt affect the teamwork of the others.

And just as an update. Rejoined my Guild as I just missed all the guys...but now its this carriage Quest we are getting more and more of. I think this week we have had it 3 times already!! what is going on? I dont know how a Guild can cancel every single GQ that either has 2 adv or carriage quest..at this rate a Guild is likely to complete 1 quest a week if we were to do that. Really stressing and annoying people more and more and I cant see light at the end of it all.
