View Full Version : Post updated tables so we can compare please
Hi I thought it may be a good idea to post updated rank tables so we can compare put the time on so we can see also just to see if people are slowing down or speeding up a lot.
I know last night the table went down but these are the 2 since its been fixed personally think there should be a few jumps today as everyone/most people stopped donating when it was noticed the board was broken last night
[10:12] lulu10093: http://prntscr.com/1ekjt0 took that one before though so can compare with next update to check all the jumps they should have
[10:56] lulu10093: http://prntscr.com/1ekrnf been updated again

I honestly think that making 100% has been such a slog that after reaching it, it's natural for servers or server teams to slow down and have a breather before trying for 150% or 200%.
NB: I'm happy to keep making water at the same rate, but it didn't surprise me that the top servers paused for awhile.
By the way, great link (http://static.cdn.ubi.com/0034/archive/birthday_event/ladder.png) Fadito that lets you see the latest rankings directly.

I reckon it will be up on Monday morning. BB will probably be facing the wrath of the Germans at that point, so I think it will be sorted out pretty quickly once they are in the office. The last thing they want is all the Germans getting up and walking out in disgust before the event is over.....
I find it hard to believe that in this day and age a company doesn't have staff working staggered work weeks to ensure that their online businesses are running 24/7.

The Germans aren't highly impressed by it either. They had a few posts regarding the lack of a fix for the graphic, and a couple of replacement graphics:

Costs, means more man hours to pay for and most weekends there are no faults so people will be getting paid to sit down and spin in office chairs. I am sure if there is a serious major fault that has to be fixed then engineers could dial in from home or even be asked to do some overtime. As it is this is hardly a serious fault that can't wait till Monday. Annoying yes but serious, no.
I work for a major multinational manufacturing company and it is the same system.

Even the Germans were really upset that BB hadn't fixed it over the weekend, so BB did get a lot of feedback about it. However, it is possible to work round it until the problem has been fixed. We expect the table to fail next weekend too, and we prepare for that. Then it won't be a surprise if it does.

If you have a sensitive system you use people on call. So they don't need to be at the office but if something is not working properly, you call them in. The beautiful thing with programming is that there is no reason what so ever for the coder monkeys to go to the actual office. All they need is an internet connection and all work could be done from anywhere in the world. Having people on call costs money too but not as much as having people just sitting around at the office. If you want to be taken serious with a game that is running 24/7, then you need people on call. Now this is an event and the score board has broken down two weekends in a row. I think they should really spend some time trying to fix it. But then again, BB has repeatedly shown in the past that they hate their customers.

Even programmers sitting at home cost the same as programmers going into the office. If they did provide support 24/7, do you think it would still be a free to play game?

That is entirely dependent on they contract. You can design it so they get a little bit of money for the time that they are on stand by and then they get more money when they are actually needed. This is an extremely common way to do things. You don't need an army of programmers. You need one or two and they would most likely handle a whole bunch of the games offered by BB. There are several online games offered by BB you know.

Yes, but they still have to think it's worth the money, regardless of how many online games they make. Apparently they don't at the moment. :D

So we managed to donate the same amount of balloons in the 24 hours after the list went back up again as during the entire weekend while the list was down. Do we need any more proof that these problems has had a negative effect on the event and that BB should either compensate with some free balloons or more time?

What BB needs to do is recognise that there is a lack of trust , based with some justification on recent past actions on their part, because of their unwillingness to communicate quickly with player relevant information. It is clear that on the face of it the information they gave ( via the German forums initially, which is again part of the problem :() that donating was indeed ok whilst the ranking table was down. It was our decision not to believe them and hold onto our balloons, we can't really ask for special treatment because of this, but they do need to recognise that they do have a problem and be more proactive to address it.

The complete lack of trust is their own fault and the complete lack of information is also their own fault. They have handled problems extremely poorly in the past and they have repeatedly been very bad at giving out information. In order to restore some credibility and trust, they need to at least show that they care about us and take some responsibility for their faults. They were the ones who broke the event, not us. So if they want to earn our trust back, they need to actually show that they care about us. It's the not giving a damn about the players that's the problem. If they give us some more time as a compensation for the mess they created. People would be much more forgiving off their mistakes since they show that they care. Now they just ignored us, gave us little or no information and because of that, the event suffered.
A prime example of this is the halloween event where the pumpkins where handled extremely poor. The game is poorly coded so the last resource of any pool, be it a mine or a field does not actually count. Making a counter that counts to zero was apparently beyond the capabilities of the ones who made the game. For farms and mines, this is generally not a problem but it was quite a problem with the pumpkins since it was such a rare resource and missing out on those last pumpkins meant a rather large loss in resources. Furthermore, the extremely long production cycle revealed that all production is reset sometime each morning. Again, with a production time of minutes, this is not a big deal but when you have a production time of hours and need to time buffs for a rare resource, having the timer reset by several hours makes in close to impossible to time buffs. Specially when you are not entirely sure when in the morning this happens. No official replies were made and no apologies were given out. Had they just said they were sorry for the problems and given us 10 token pumpkins it would have been fine because it shows that they at least pretend to care about their players. Now they just ignored it which only leads to resentment.
So at this stage, it's not really about missing out on a couple of hundred gems. It's about credibility and their relations with their own player base. They need to show that they actually care about us and the easy thing is to either hand out some balloons, give us a couple of free percentage points or preferably, give us a couple of more days to complete the event.

Can somebody please clarify the following please...
After 100%.... does it take more balloons per %. ie ... If it takes 1 million to reach 100% then, it should take 1.5mill to reach 150% (yes I know these figures aren't even close, I'm just using them as an example).
There are those that believe that after 100%, the number of balloons required for each % is increased. My question is.... is it?
If it is, then that's wrong. I believe it isn't btw but some official clarification would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Unfortunately we won't get official clarification, although most people believe that the number of balloons required for 150% and 200% do change.
I disagree, there are too many other factors but the naysayers campaign of uninformed disinformation has had it's effect. We now need to triple our output to reach 150%, for 200% we need to increase production to 7x it's current rate.
