View Full Version : [FIXED] Sidequest "Settler Shortage" cannot be completed

Fexno

To make a long story short, the quest is currently bugged and cannot be completed.

The image below shows the requirement that cannot be met.
http://db.tt/WNNapgCo

Why can't I complete it?

The problem is they have changed their name in the star menu, Now they will show as Settlers not Traveller family as was the case. They forgot to change what the quest is looking for, therefore the quest fails

What can I do?
Just be patient. Leave the quest open in your questbook. That way you can complete it as soon as it is fixed and claim the reward.
You are not missing any other quests, by not completing this one.

It seems like you can finish this quest after all.
Thanks Muerte66 for sharing your solution:

I produced 5 Traveller Families at the same time time. When they were produced they were added to the star menu as 25 settlers. I added that group to the Mayors House (ensuring I had at least 25 spare spots for settlers) and it worked.

I produce them but they wont appear in my star menu. Already did twice.

peck_ed

This should appear as +5 Settlers, it wont be listed as a Traveller Family

Justiceer
29.06.13, 17:58
ok. But then in mission "settler shortage", theres no progress in the "use at least 5 traveller families on your mayor's house".

I did two times. Can say 4 sure that applied once.

I have the same problem as well. I did in two days about 10 groups of family set, with 5 each. After I put on mayor's house, the quest remain unfinished.

taz71

same here, even tried 5 foreign settler families from the shop, nothing worked

Fexno

Ok these are the requirements listed for the quest "Settler shortage"

Open the population tooltip.
Select the provision house with your mouse cursor.
Produce enough Traveller Families to obtain 5 Settler(s).
Use at least 5 Traveller Families on your Mayor’s House. NOTE: this is an incorrect translation, using 1 traveller family is enough

Are all requirements green in the quest book? If not, which are not?
Can any of you post a screenshot of the quest page? (you can upload it here (http://www.thesettlersonlinewiki.com/uploader.html) and then copy paste the link here on the forum.)

Since taz71 is experiencing the problem as well, I expect it could be a bug. So you might want to contact Support here (http://www.thesettlersonline.com/help-and-support) and explain the problem in detail.

I'm having the same problem.... Have added 5 settlers about 5-6 times now and still quest is unfinished... will send a ticket

Two other things that came to mind:
1) When you apply the Traveller Family to the mayor's house, be sure that you have are at least 5 settlers under maximum population.
2) Only produce 1 Traveller Family and apply that one (So you add 5 settlers at once and not more)

Altmus

I get an item in my star menu that increases settlers, but it doesn't have the "travelling settlers" tooltip and doesn't contribute to quest completion when applied.

Additionally, settlers created in stacks appear as a single item with the total number of settlers (ie. 5 x travelling settlers = 25 settler item, no tooltip, no quest completion)

Happening to me, a lot under max pop and have tried it numerous times with 1 family (= 5 settlers) and 5 families (=25 settlers). The quest acknowledges and turns green first 3 boxes, so it agrees i have made the family but refuses to believe i am clicking this family on mayors house even though my pop goes up.

I believe I have discovered why this quest is no longer working. The settlers in your star used to be called "Wayward settler", "Traveller family", "Retired Bandits", now however they are called "Settlers". This change is recent, possible no older than when they brought the science system in. So what has happened is the quest is looking for them using the old name not the new blanket "Settler" name.

So does that mean the item in the Star Menu was not recognised as the Settler Family when it was then moved to Storage: that sort of name change?

I've just done the Traveller Family quest as part of my Guild Quest. I used 1 Traveller Family, made sure that I had space for more than 5 settlers, and applied the Traveller Family to my Mayor's House. It worked.

Yeah, this only appears to affect the side quest

Tried the advice from peck_ed but this didn't work for me any idea when this will be fixed?

Dorotheus

Definitely not before Hell freezes over. I just happen to know that Hell is a crater on the moon named after Maximilian Hell a Jesuit priest born in Hungary. Logic dictates it must freeze over once every lunar month. :)

Hello all, I just passed this by creating 5 at once (5 x 5 = 25 settlers) and it worked.
Doing them one family at a time obviously does not.

Was this for a Guild Quest or the one listed in the topic title?

It works as a Guild Quest, the only problem seems to be as a Side Quest.

normal quest item. - Guild quest or Side quest? Both are normal quests.

Iolanthe

It might help to know the Guild Quests only ask one to "Produce enough Traveller Families to obtain x Settlers." while "Settler Shortage" adds "Use at least 5 Traveller Families on your Mayor’s House."

Making them isn't the problem, they're all still named in Prov. It's when they reach the Star and are called "Settlers" that the problem arises and the Mayor is confused when the "Settlers" are added.

When it works "Settler Shortage" should also work with just one Family of five 'people', there's a typo in the quest requirement.

Since it was so easy to unannouncedly introduce the change of name for settlers in the star menu, how hard would it be to revert the name for traveller families so that this quest is doable?

Or change the quest requirement to "Use at least 5 Settlers on your Mayor’s House." or summat, either way it does seem a bit loony it's taking so long.

Sorry all, I obviously need to make it clearer, i am still new to the game.
The quest was the settler shortage, I am not in a guild so could not be a guild quest.
As stated earlier, I produced at least 10 traveller families (producing 1 at a time when I had bread) and tried to add them.
This did not work.
I then bought bread and produced 5 settler familes at the same time time. When they were produced they were added to the star menu as 25 settlers.
I added that group to the Mayors House (ensuring I had at least 25 spare spots for settlers) and it worked.
Take care all, I hope this has made it very clear.
