Many players have got one of these from the Christmas Event, though, where you gained one by opening the "Christmas Surprise" advent calendar every day for 24 days. This one was available to all levels, I think.

And drive the value of gold coins down even more? I have 4 of these if I could upgrade each to level 5 and then triple buff I would have a vast amount of gold coins.

Why stop at triple-buffs? I'd get all my explorers on "Artefact Search", to get Rainbox Snow - get a friend to place 'em and that's 6 days of quadruple buff! As long as your explorer can find 4 every week between them...
Then again, Rainbow Snow still fetches a nice price in the TO. The price of Rainbow Snow would rocket and gc would plummet if you could get, hmm...
4 Level 5 gold towers = 20 coins per 12 mins
Quad buffed = 400 coins per hour
For 6 days = 57,600 gold coins

That's a nice income, as long as you're the only person who does it, but I can't see BB allowing this tower to be upgradable, so we're all stuck 11,520gc max every 6 days, or 120gc per tower per day unbuffed...
NOTE: 12 mins is an approximation, which doesn't include travel time, so the above gc values are all reduced a little anyway.

can we expect a gold tower to be upgradable in the near future ?
I have 3 of these and a very nice gold production but is hampered by the Gold Tower only being equivalent to a level 1 coinage

That's a good point Daisy. Would be great to upgrade to lvl 5 as current lvl 1 only give 58 coins per 12 hours - not a lot really.

thing is its 1 wheat = 1 coin unbuffed
lv 1 coinage needs gold ore then gold bars to make the coin

This is a great example of "can't please all the people..." If you look in game suggestions, there are cries for ways to get gold coins out of the game to stop rampant inflation, and here are people asking for a way to make more gold coins quicker for free. :)

You would make more coins selling the rainbow buffs. As corona said, would last 4 days, rainbow cannot be applied by a friend.

How do you get 4 GT. The merchant is maxed out at 3.

The 4th one was a gift from a past christmas event years ago, i think 4 or 5 years ago. It was a reward for opening all doors.
