Lol, only just noticed it says 10 a.m. and not the usual 6 a.m......might have been advertised a bit better, don't think many people will have noticed the extra time!
Yes why is this Maintenace that long ????
maybe, there were some problems last week with maintenance, NF started around 9 a.m.

from info I catched on Polish server after today's maintaince in there gamers can expect: in marchant/shop: Nords 2, new category for Premium accounts, 2 new buffs, limited offer section will be taken off, chance for giving gems as a gift, new limit for gempits - u can have 10 of them; other changes - premium account, 3 new mini advs, plus some bugs corrections.
And the maintenance on the german servers went wrong on Tuesday. They had a normal timeframe given before the maintenance started and it ended up taking a few hours longer. So they probably expect to run into the same problems today and gave us a longer timeframe to be sure.
But as you first observed Shelob - this could have been better advertised.... I'd have liked to warn the guild etc...

I'm expecting someone to pick me up on the better advertised comment - because it was in the maintenance announcement on the home page...
The correlation to this is that if BB feel that this exceptional maintenance was well advertised, perhaps they could tuck the next gem sale advertisement into some standard text on the right and not bother with the in game messaging I've recieved (and responded to) in the past.
We've never been given a proper explanation of why maintenance is 'needed' each week, unlike so many other online games which are monthly or during play.
Extended maintenance should have nothing to do with the updates or changes, more likely changing of equipment and testing.
Why is it so hard to add a reason?

This maintenance is bad though. I have to go to work now, so the quest I wanted to finish this morning is not going to be finished at all.
Expensive maintenance for me.

yep, connection failure, click here to reboot....
One hour after the maintenance, the connection still con not be established. All I can obtain is: "Initialising login queue".

The current time in the UK is 9:20, so still 40 minutes left before the announced maintenance window ends

I allways make a mistake with that 1 hour time in England.
I just be patient and get back to my work then:)
I noticed the extra time for maintenance from yesterdays home page and was hoping maybe another crisis was coming, Halloween starts mid oct so its a perfect time to have one.
Also there was a maintenance planned for 00.30 till 08.00 a few weeks bk, but that maintenance actually didn't start till 05.00 that day and ended at 08.00.
not long to wait now, be interesting to see what changes have been made :-)
I've been trying to log on for the last hour now. All I keep getting after a long wait is 'connection to server lost' and I have to keep refreshing and it still gets me no where... Does this mean that my daily log in is now screwed for another week...???
What is going on..?!?! My poor island. :(

The funny thing is, during the summer there is 2 hours time difference between GMT and GMT+1 timezone. So when they say 10:00am GMT+1, that usually means 10:00am in the GMT+1 timezone. It's 11:00am here now and I can't get in.
They probably wanted to say 10:00 am in the GMT timezone. It's 9:00 am over there now. So we'll prolly have to wait another hour.

Not quite, that site makes no allowance (that i can see after a brief glimpse) for seasonal time saving, it is 10am gmt +1 already in the uk.
Both the Uk and CET use daylight saving in the summer so there is only an hour between them not two. The maint is running late....

So glad that the game is out of Beta now, so we should see less bugs and issues. O...no....wait.....
When this has happened on other games I've played, they usually give a gift buff to apologise. Think Settlers would be bust if it did that for the amount of times maintenance goes wrong. And this kind of thing certainly doesnt promote the idea of me paying real cash for gems to play. If it wasnt free, I doubt I'd play this anymore and the more frustrated I get with it, the more chance you have of losing another player!
I rather have BB doing a full maintenance and be a little late, half work I worst if you ask me.
Let's just try to be a little patient, there is still lot's off time left to kill your troops during the rest off the day:)

Maybe if enough people stop being so patient and filled the forums with complaints, they might see how annoyed their 'customers' are and be inclined to get it done properly and on time :p

Norfik, the whole point of the thread is that nobody can log in. Saying that you can't is A: obvious, and B: adds nothing to the discussion.
Wouldn't mind waiting so much if we had a bit of communication from BB about it- reasons why, when we can expect to be able to log in- that sort of thing! Is this sort of information too much to expect? Those who are on adventures or have buffs running out are going to lose out because of this. It's not about gifts of compensation, but a recognition of the problems it's causing and some information would help!
Does anyone know if we are getting new stuff with this maintenance, like explorer science trees etc, or is it just a normal maintenance

Don't think it's a normal maintenance but the usual rumours abound- science system upgrades, bug fixes, guild info corrections, Nords 2, etc. Don't think anything has been confirmed.
i do think my gold production is ruined by now.... @BB do we get compensation for these failures --> 58 smelters and 57 coinages @ lvl 4 and 5 running unbuffed...
