They stated it's optional and noone will ever attack your island :)

That being said, I believe it's a really nice feature to have, it adds variety. Doing the same adventures over and over again can become very tedious in the long run.

Sigh, a closer look would reveal that this is only on a Chinese beta server.
Typical overreaction.

Whereas doing the same PvP over and over again isn't?

Adventures are 100% the same every time, there are no random camps, locations or mobs and most have tunnel design. PvP however probably means random opponents with unknown troops so it wont get repetitive as fast.

I started playing SO because I do not want PVP in any shape or form. If I wanted PVP I would play another game, there are many similar games out there that offers PVP.

If a game becomes tedious I stop playing and go do something else :p

Would it be so bad for you if you're free to not do it, but leave the freedom to others that may have different preferences than you?

I'm not a PVPer either, but I'm fine with PVP as long as noone forces me to do it :)

I would prefer it if BB did not waste time and resources on PVP yes. I think it would be better if they made more interesting new adventures, fixed bugs and designed new content for the game rather than spend time on PVP.

As I said, there are loads of games out there that has PVP for those that want it.

To be honest, this isnt the right sort of game to incorporate PVP into, its a slow building and resource game...umm have you noticed? its not like other fighting games and certainly alot different to other some other online games with PVP which I will not mention due to the rules.
I for one will never, never play PVP and I wont even bother with games that include that. Should PVP become a main quest or we are forced to play that part of the game I will be leaving and NOT coming back.
As for attacking other peoples island, thats a joke, higher levels will go in and destroy lower lvl players islands, how unfair and stupid is that.
Wipe PVP and keep settlers in its proper format, PVP will only ruin the game and BB will lose alot of players should it come in.

Haha I can not believe you guys. You do not want pvp in this game? But there are military forces in this game yes? So, you think those military forces are used to sing military songs? If you are scared to face me or any other player, just hide in your islands and play adventures as usual, pvp will not change your game one bit. But do not say this game should not have pvp. Because me and other players want pvp. They promised pvp by the end of 2013, so if on 1st of January there is no pvp I will gift my special buildings to my guild friends and bye-bye

PvP is on the roadmap for the game, but as they've said before, it will be optional, so players who don't want to play wont have to, and those who do want to, can do it off their own island.

This game is actually the right game for pvp. The old settlers game had pvp where you fight for control of the island and towers.

This could be done with this game as a separate island that people would go to. you send a boat of settlers and starting resources and see who can win that map. whatever you earn from that map you take home. such as gathering rare/expert resources.

Is PVP even possible? What will we fight for? Granite or exotic wood? I have enough of everything.

I imagine PvP will be a blind commit type of game.

Player 1 deploys towers/troops.
Player 2 deploys towers/troops.

Neither player 1 or player 2 can see what the other has deployed.

Attacks will then start to take place automatically (and perhaps take many hours/days?) to auto-complete.

Rewards will be 'rare' buffs, and items (beans, etc.)

I expect the funny thing will be:
Those who really want PvP will get a 'PvP' that is not at all as they would have wanted it.
Those who really don't want PvP will get a 'PvP' that is not nearly as bad as they thought it would be and might actually try it.
It will probably be a 'novelty' system that is used a bit when first out then only sporadically used thereafter (as it is by its nature not a 'core' system).

u can watch it instead of imagine it ,.....pvp is implemented already in the asian servers ;)

Baggis

The Asian PVP is region specific, they do their own game development so it's not necessarily an indication of how it would be implemented here.

what^??? dudes imagine to be a developer , would u just make minor changes between region games according to the specific tastes ? or build a diffrent game for every regional community out there??
it' s cristal clear that pvp will work more or less in the same way in the different regional games....

And TSO has had "regional variations" right from the word go, some minor and occasionally something major that leaves me scratching my head in disbelief. For instance, Pirate Huts were on the US flavour long before we ever saw them here, but we've never seen General Klotz who came with the "Premium Pack" (although the Frozen Manors, Ice Mines and Nords2 have filtered through in a manner).

Personally I'm not fussed about PvP, it was never a core feature of the original (and best), besides there's already a myriad of PvP games about, not so many decent 'builders' though. To accommodate it would need some quite dramatic shifts in both the 'engine' and playing habits.

these variations , as was said , are minor variations , ....c'mon pirate huts , and diffrent generals types are not big changes .....
we talk about giving a sense to the exp .....

people at lvl 50 just want to know who is the stronger ,.....otherwise what's the point of weapons and military production ?? watch the statistics? (really??)
it's frustrating to level up to do adventures that make you level up better ...then what?

by the way stop with this " settlers is not a PVP thing , there are many others mmorpg to have pvp ...bla bla bla"
settlers was born for PVP since the earlier versions back in the 90's ....dudes i played settlers from the very number 1 §(amiga 500 ver. ) :)

Whilst I agree with your sentiments on PVP: it's going to be optional and it is in keeping with the original Settlers games I don't agree with the regional variations being minor. The Asian servers as stated are developed by a different team and they have their own content, they even have different resources. Notice 8k granite from one adventure, it hints to the fact the economy is of a totally different balance too.

well , i understand that ,
i just consider such a thing as minor change ,.....i played the chinese version too , this is why i'm saying is not so different....
and yes of course there are many differences between the 2 versions....but i'm referring to some core issues , as the combat system ,
that as a mater of fact are equals without doubts ......the game is the same....

at Ieast they are going somewhere with the game i think they wiII change the combat system as of when i have no idea, ppI that dont Iike PvP dont have to get invoIved if its optionaI which is great news, im Iooking forward to PvP myseIf as i find adventures extremIy boring that i do one once in a bIue moon and their fore i wiII never get to IvI 50 thru doing adventures aIone at Ieast this way i have another option :)

I deliberately didn't list some of the more 'major' differences, as they cause a lot of aggro.
And "dudes", if you want to play "my dad is bigger than your dad", I still have the testing diskette and the editor program. Somewhere deep in the BB vaults is my bug report showing how to stuff Mission 11 by completing it without all the factors registering, so it never lets you go onto Mission 12.

I'm looking forward to something new to do in the game. A bit of competition is going to make the game a bit less pointless feeling at lvl 50. Hopefully it's done in a way that makes it actually worth doing.

Go play another game WITH pvp then.
Why? This game is getting PvP :)
