View Full Version : Premium Account timer countdown

If this has already been raised, forgive my posting again on the subject...
I may be missing something here, but the only way I can see how much time is left on the premium account is by building something cheap and the timer is then shown in slot 4 of the build queue. This is ok but the bug where the build queue keeps disappearing doesnt help, and we shouldnt really have to build anything to find out how long remains on the premium account.
May I suggest a countdown timer be added to the info under our avatar? Or any better suggestions, perhaps?
yeah it is annoying like this the list vanishes http://prntscr.com/1q3sz0 even though you can clearly see im building a copper mine
bugs lets squish em out the game BB its about time If we was still in Beta there would be a excuse.
but the proper countdown timer idea a good one :)

Does anyone know if you start the premium day near the end of a quest, you still get double bonuses? I want to maximise the premium day time by doing as many quests as possible in the time. P.S I've since found out, the answer is yes.

Hi.
I was just thinking... Premium... All you can see is the days left of your Premium time... Why not change it into hours or hours/mins left... would make it a whole lot easier to see how much time is left of premium. As ie. premium:1 day(s) left... but how many hours??? is it 2 or 15 or 24 hours??? no one knows except BB... but i would like the change into hours and maybe mins... so it would say ie (Premium: 72h 13min)
But that's my opinion.
Best Regards

While it is true you don't have a specific counter to see how much premium time you have left.
You can check the counter on the temporary building queue slot you gain during the premium time.
This counter is only visible when you building at least 1 building, but not have the premium time building queue slot in use.

I have to agree with KillSwitchEngage, it would things a lot easier if the timer worked in hours and minutes as per the build queue when you reached the last day. Having just had my premium time expire just as i finished a FT adventure, i was not overly impressed. Surely it wouldn't be a difficult change to implement.
Cheers

Yeah, it might be useful if a separate stack was created for the premium timer.
During the Red Nose Day event on .de there was a countdown timer for gem-bought Avatar noses, mouse over your nose and voila! Something like that would be perfect for Premium.

The current "display" for Premium really isn't terribly useful.
I would really like to be able to see how much premium time I have left. I know that it states how many days I have left but when I get under 1 day, it keeps saying "1 day". The only way I can get this info right now is by building something. Then the extra premium building slot shows how much time that is left.
The information could be shown when the cursor hover over premium! Right now it tells how many wonderful things you get when premium is active. A "time left" counter there shouldn't take too much space and .... would be nice.

the building queue timer is awkward for me to use as the only time it's active is if copper mines fall down.

It's been posted already before. More then a year ago.
So here i go again.
With premium on you don't have really idea how much time is left.
You only see the amount of days left.
When building something your able to see in the building que how much time is left.
But when everything is build... no way of seeing the time.
So instead of seeing 1 day it would be easier to see a clock with how much time left.
I guess that could fit on the same place as you see now : Premium Time 1
Only then instead of the 1 a counter counting down :)

build the well or something then look at the extra slot, u will see the time
Although we all know the work around to get things done, Doesn't mean it shouldn't be corrected. It would be nice to have some sort of accurate timer.
The work around only helps when you are on your home island. I don't know about anyone else, but the point where I really want to be keeping a close eye on how much premium time I have left is when I am trying to get one last adventure done before it expires. At that stage, having to go home, click on something to build, check the time and then return to the adventure can waste precious minutes, especially if the server is busy.
What I really need is some way to see the exact read out without having to leave the adventure zone and the OPs suggestion would cover this...even if the timer only kicked in once you reached less than a full day of premium left. So, for example, you would see "X days Premium" until you reach less than a full day and then, instead, see "23:59 Premium" which would proceed to count down to "00:00 Premium". This would take no more room in the display than it does at present and be much more useful.

That's what i do now ;)

you could always down load a free alarm clock/count down timer...set it up then hit prem....hey presto now you can see what time you have left :P

Could be a grey area what with BB not being aware of the difference's between 1st, 2nd and 3rd party software.

It would run independently, not in game. Just a count for your own reference.
ANd good idea Maniac, never thought of that one. Might even do that

Not going to work around maintenance times thou, Seeing as this is the best time to drop a 24hour prem buff kind of makes any use it could have very limited.

Given that some players would need it to be correct to the second, the only possible source of such software would have to be BB themselves.

I agree, but I was trying to clarify what MANIAC was saying....

Very true
After maintenance you log in, check how much time you have left and set up your own countdown/alarm. And If you plan on finishing in the last minute on this laggy game, well....

Think your missing the point.
The point is people are saying:
Some don't have space to build wells/fields etc to check the amount of time left on the clock
Or/And
We shouldn't have to use a work around to check the amount of time left.
So someone suggested using a alarm clock separate to TSO to monitor time left, If after maintenance we are just going to build a well to check the time left then reset the alarm clock by that, Then arnt we back to square one with the build option? Might aswell just continue to use the build option and drop the clock completely.
well, budgy provided a fix to another fix. surely the best solution should come from game developers :)
but i would be afraid to ask for new features, seeing how laggy the game is after the latest addons :P

maintenance does'nt effect it cause you now how long 24+maint time is....so you set count down to that time...unless you cant add up :P
i have been using this method for prem time since i started buying 1 day prem coins :) i can add maint time to 24hrs cause i learnt how to add at school :)

Maintenance last a different amount of time, therefore you would need to build a field/well at the end of each maintenance to find out how long it was. Surely the idea here is come away from HAVING to build a field/well to find that out. Therefore the alarm clock wouldn't work as a stand alone idea.
Having a stab in the dark here, but as there must be a clock working server side for all the premium days and single day activated, to give us the premium time message (Days) under our avatar. All that is being asked for here is that feed to be showing in that window for the period of less than one day. As a suggestion it is a good one, and one that would be welcomed I think by all ( No downside) The devs have already implemented timers on buildings etc recently so I think its within there capability....we should just ask nicely, stop bickering amongst our selves as to who has the best alternate or work around, give the idea our support and see what happens ;)

Just one major flaw with your suggestion, you need to know exactly when maint started and when it ended.

No... you don't.
I don't know if it holds true for irregular maintenance (such as todays), but premium time is always extended by 8 hours for the regular weekly maintenance... regardless of how long the servers are actually down for... simples!

I cant speak for all of course, Hard to know how people type really. But discussing isn't bickering.

Would not be a very effective system if it only worked with the regular weekly maintenance, people would also need it to work with the irregular maintenance as well, more so as they may not be in a position to know how much to allow for.

Yeah.. but how many people end up popping their one day premium token during the day before in irregular and/or unscheduled maintenance?
I'd wager that number was tiny compared to the number of people who regularly activate their one day of premium at some point during Monday so they can take full advantage well into Tuesday.
I'd wager the vast majority of people who are affected by premium extension as a result of irregular maintenance will be running a week token (or longer) and are not liable to be 'watching the clock' so closely.

When having premium it would be nice to be able to se how long it is left of it. 1 day can be all between 1 min and 23 hours 59 min as it is now. If I build things I can se for how long the extra spot is still there, but having to build something every time I want to see how long there is left on my premium seems wrong...

This has been discussed and suggested before:
End of Premium (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/29877-End-of-Premium)
Seems like a fairly universally popular idea, so not really sure why no notice has been taken as yet.
I found a nice timer program that I downloaded that allows unlimited timers both count-up and count-down. There's lots of them out there, I'd look into that.

Thanks SmurfAsH. Would indeed be a useful tool. It would also save having to leave adventure zone to see how much time is left.
Right. Adventures have timers too. So maybe if BB can't do it any other way, they could add a quest to premium time every time (like quests for collectibles) which is pinned automatically and that would contain a timer like adventure quests do.
here BB can put timer (visible on home island in adventures and friend island)

Yes you get 150% if you start premium even just before claiming the last quest in your adventure. I always start my 1 day premium so on a fairy adventure, after all my troops are fully recovered, sent back, and in full number. That way I can easily do another fairy loot in the same day, while collecting 6 loots with premium (4 excanged+2 mine)...
