View Full Version : is my maths wrong?
i had a lvl 3 bookbinder and it took 1 day to make a tome...
the upgrade info said increases speed by 33%....
i upgraded and now it takes 18hrs to make a tome ?
surely 24hrs - 33% is 16hrs ?
is this a bug or did BB just lie to me about the 33% increase in speed ?
or maybe my maths is wrong.? but if something costs £24 and there's 33% discount i expect to pay £16 not £18.....
speed is the amount that is produced in a specific time so for example 1/24h and that increases 33% so 1/24*1,33=1/18
It's not the production time that is reduced by 33% but the speed that's increased.
i guess i should understand what they meant in the tooltip...cant help feeling i been robbed of me 2hrs...lmao
If you were told that speed increases by 100%, surely you'd think that means double speed, right? You would expect the production time to drop from 24h to 12h so double as fast. Effectively you now can finish 2 books in the same time it took for 1 book earlier. This would be a 100% increase in speed as described by the tooltip.
But if you apply your maths, you would do 24 hours - 100% = 0 hours, meaning the book would finish INSTANTLY. This would not be a 100% increase in speed, it'd be an INFINITE increase in speed. I hope this example better helps you understand the difference between these two approaches.
