Did u know that Adobe declared : NOTE: Adobe Flash Player 11.2 will be the last version to target Linux as a supported platform. Adobe will continue to provide security backports to Flash Player 11.2 for Linux.

I can confirm that playing the game on linux is no longer possible today. We would really appreciate it if this can be fixed.
Yes, same issue. I cannot play thesettlersonline anymore. I cannot update flash as it's a dead platform on linux. Also on my android tablet it won't work anymore(although with touch it never really worked well). I only use linux, what should I do?
Hi Eugenio,
I confirm that. Not playable from my Linux also. And Adobe do not have any other version of Flash Player.
You might want to try if Google Chrome still allows you to play, since that uses it's own implementation of flash.
Did anyone try already?

http://www.google.com/mac/ tells me 10.5 and higher, but I have no way to check

yes, I tried with chromium, but that doesn't work either.
I can confirm it works on Linux with Chromium
Chromium 31.0.1650.63 (Developer Build 31.0.1650.63-0ubuntu0.12.10.1~20131204.1) Ubuntu 12.10.
Flash 11.2 r202
yes, I tried with chromium, but that doesn't work either.
Chromium doesn't have the build-in flash player chrome has
Note: Unlike Chromium, the similar Google Chrome browser includes Adobe Flash Player built-in.

Chromium 31.0.1650.63 (Developer Build 31.0.1650.63-0ubuntu0.12.10.1~20131204.1) Ubuntu 12.10.
Flash 11.2 r202
That means you have adobe flash player 11.2 installed, and apparently that is still working too
I agree, there are many of us running FOSS (Free and open-source software). If it were able to run on Chromium of ForeFox that would be great. Please consider this when requiring upgrading the end users software.
Hi all fellow Linux users,
Ever since Adobe made the announcement about not supporting flash on our beloved platform, I've been using the inbuilt Pepper plugin in Chrome to fulfill my need for flash. It has worked for me as good as you could expect from any flash plugin to work even on my x86_64 environment.
I'm waiting for the day when BB and Ubi wakes up to the fact that flash is dead and the future belongs to HTML5.
On the positive side thank God Settlers doesn't need Silverlight.
Chrome's pepper flash plugin also works with Chromium. You just have to disable the official flash plugin first.

Do you have a HOWTO about how to do this?
Depends what your distro is

quote from google chrome page
"If you already have Chrome installed, you can still use Chrome, but it will no longer be auto-updated. In addition, you’ll be unable to install Chrome on any Mac still running 10.5"
feel as i have wasted tons of time and effort for nothing. thanks TSO

Hello audiocapture,
Do you know if your Mac is Intel or PowerPC?
Thanks,

Hi audiocapture,
That's good news, if you're absolutely sure - you can update your operating system to Snow Leopard (http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard), that will take you to OS 10.6.
Remember to triple check compatibility :).
Best of luck,

For those of you with Linux, might I suggest checking for updates then try again. I'm running Fedora 20 with Firefox 26.0 and Flash 11.2.202.335 (latest for Linux) and it's working fine for me. Curiously about 2hrs ago I also had the error message about needing a newer version of flash but it's gone now and the game seems to work just fine.
Thanks for the feedback so far.
So for those wondering a quick summary:
Using windows
You have no problems and can just install the newest flash player if the game asks you to.
Using linux
Chrome still works out of the box.
Chromium needs some configuration to use the build-in flash plugin. (see the links in this post)
And reading this post it should be possible to update to Flash Player 11.2 and use your normal browser. [CONFIRMED]
Using Mac OS X
All versions below 10.5 are using a powerpc architecture, and haven't found a solution/workaround for them
Mac OS X 10.5 (powerpc architecture): Unfortunately not supported anymore, not found a solution/workaround
Mac OS X 10.5 (intel architecture) support chrome version 21, but couldn't find what flash version is included there (download can be found here (http://www.oldapps.com/mac/google_chrome.php?system=mac_os_x_10.5_leopard_int el)) -> Unfortunately not supported anymore, but you can upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6 or higher (Snow Leopard (http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard))
Mac OS X 10.6 and higher can just install the lastest flash player when asked by the game

yes, I second that. It was not working this morning and it's working now, so I think they reverted it, or at least changed something to still allow 11.2

Same here, working in Firefox now that didn't work earlier today.
Yup - same... FireFox said get lost and upgrade flash this morning but now it's working as if it never happened.
May 4th, 2012. Welcome to Adobe® Flash® Player 11.2 and Adobe® AIR® 3.2! This release includes bug fixes related to stability and performance
(...snip...)
Adobe will continue to provide security updates to non-Pepper distributions of Flash Player 11.2 on Linux for five years from its release.
If you guys could go ahead and keep supporting 11.2 for the next couple of years, that'd be great. :o
As well as a rather nifty macbook, I do have an ageing PPC desktop mac running 10.4.1 Tiger.
Using the instructions at http://lowendmac.com/2012/hack-allows-powerpc-macs-to-access-flash-11-content/ I was able to load up my island today using Safari.
I didn't have time to play test it for stability, but the game loaded and my island loaded fine. I have no real desire to play the game on that system; it was purely to see if it ran. I will leave others who have no other option to try it more thoroughly.
DISCLAIMER: It's a hack and totally unsupported. It has nothing to do with me: I'm just passing info on and I won't be held responsible if it snarls up your system/game
You might want to try if Google Chrome still allows you to play, since that uses it's own implementation of flash.
Did anyone try already?
Chrome stopped working quite a while ago, starts to load the splash screen but sticks on the white background.
I also thought that it would be the end. But it's working. I didn't try it tommorow, but now it seems ok. Using OpenSuse 13.1 and Firefox with flash 11.2.202.332.

Chrome on Linux you mean? Since I use Google Chrome on Windows to play TSO every day.
I had issues when I first logged in today with the new flash upgrade on IE, I would get onto island and 30 sec's later would get booted, happened several times `connection to client lost'. A thorough cache clean seemed to have fixed it ;)
Confused as to what exactly "the latest version of flash" means.
I'm using 11,9,900,170, yet the latest version is 12.0.0.38
Given that a new version of flash seems to come out every week, you would think the developers would be more on the ball explaining what they mean.
Gerontius, the original post did specify version 12.

Nope, Chrome on Windoze. Their 'internal' Flash interpretation is flaky to say the least, plus security software is forever trying to stop it 'phoning home'.

Not sure which original post you're referring to... Only post I've seen is:

So in order to play a flash game, i MUST use Chrome on Linux, since i have installed the latest flash plugin, but that doesnt work.
That is NO solution, if at all, its a workaround.
:(
Just making "air".
