It might be that you have a book waiting for pickup in your Bookbinder or a collection in your Mayor's House, this has proven to be the case in the past.

I hsve the same problem for the last couple of days. I tried to change to other browsers and had som succes with IE, but after a while the same same. very annoiying, since i started an adventure ande since i used a barracks buff. When will this be solved. It must be caractirized as a major bug.
