Food Carts spawn only when low

Typically I'll have about 25 Food Cart resources at any given time. When I'm at this level I receive little or none of the collectibles. If I use or sell these, however, and get to 5 units or less, they will suddenly spawn on my Island in droves...

Is there a mysterious cap on how many Food Carts players can have?

I don't think so. I have 1k+ of Food Carts and they keep spawning.

It's definitely a lowish spawn in general, but I'm pretty sure there's no limit like that.
I do seem to have days where they are everywhere, but I don't typically spend/sell them, so the amount I have doesn't seem relevant.

the food cart spawn rate is low, probably on par with banners. I have around 800 and they still spawn at exactly the same rate as when I had 0. A lot were got through trading. Since I started on Northisle as well I can say it must vary from island to island because there I get a nice supply of food carts.

Since the day it started I've done 2-3 collection quests every day, never missed any and can say with fair certainty that its all luck, sometimes you can get as little as 3 collectibles other times as many as 20+, sometimes it can be all herbs or all scarecrows. On very rare occasions you can get 10 or so food carts or banners, kettles you can get 5 or 6 at least once a week. But on the whole you will get a few banners and food carts and it won't be enough to make any worthwhile amount of buffs. You will have to trade if you want the stuff that you require.

This will be the same if not worse when the new stuff comes out soon, TBH beyond the skunk buff most of it is just a bonus buff once in a blue moon for me.
