View Full Version : movie not loaded
Hi all, until this morning all was fine. In the middle of I got an error, which I clicked off, and continued. However, while I can login again, the game stalls at about 46%. Right-clicking the screen says movie not loaded and the screen is blank. Tried different browsers, using latest Flash for Linux (341) to no avail. Any idea? -tia-
This is a very old thread, but it seems the most appropriate and I noticed there was no answer. The situation is this...
I have two PC's. Both are Windows 7 and Chrome (current version of course).
On one, Settlers runs fine.
On the other, I can get to the home page, but when I click "play now" I get a grey screen and right-clicking on that screen shows "movie not loaded" along with the current flash version. The only difference I can see is that the 2nd one (the one that doesn't work) is on a LAN with a proxy server and the other is on a mobile broadband connection. But I would think that all Flash content would be an issue on the one that won't run Settlers - but I've checked multiple sites and Flash content overall seems fine. So I'm trying to figure out what the problem is.
I only need the one that is working so it's not a burning issue but now it's become a matter of principle - I want to figure it out. Oh, btw I tried the slim browser version on the one that isn't working and it still didn't work - so it's something beyond the PC itself.
Thanks for any help.

You have to allow flash to run on thesettlersonline.com. You can allow it by clicking on the (i) in front of the web address and on the that drop menu select Allow for Flash.
If that's not the problem it seems that the PC on LAN can't download all the required content from the servers. You can see if and what is missing with the Chrome Developer tools (Ctrl+Shift+I).
Might it also not be the VLC player or similar ghosting in. Might want to check who tries to run .swf files in browser/windows. VLC seems the one most problematic for ppl but logically any extra mediaplyer might steal the mime/type.

Yep Xibor - if you have VLC Media Player installed, please uninstall it and try it again.
Thanks for the input - I'll look into the suggestions. Cheers
Update. Still no success.
I have two machines - one that works and one that doesn't so it helps for comparisons. On both machines, there is no default program for .swf files. Flash is always allowed to run in Chrome (somewhere I found that the flash plugin should take care of .swf files on my machine but it's not in the Windows extension associations). But since that settings is the same on both machines I don't think that's it.
Tried everything I can think of an no success. Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Does both computers have the same content in chrome://flash (chrome://flash/)?
Before you press the "play# button open the Chrome Developer tool and select "Network" tab from there. Is there any errors reported there after you press the "play" button?
Can you switch the network connections on those PCs? Or at least test if the working PC works also when it's using the LAN connection.
BTW: I don't think VLC has only NPAPI plugin an no PPAPI plugin so the plugin installed with VLC doesn't work on Chrome.
