It would be useful if we have little text box where we can save our thoughts, things list what is needed to do or just things what are needed to be remember or remind important things.

+

Chat/trade box -(minus) factor - it hides icons and news what are received.
Those who have small screen on wide screen, then when you have chat/trade or whatever open, also friend list, and if someone is looking your village, then his/her icon is hidden behind chat/trade box. Then its hard to notice when she/he buffs you and even who he/she was who buffed cus, her/his icon was hidden. Also if you make chat/trade box too high, it will hide incoming message/mine collapse and all the other info.
Just moving chat/trade bot to the other corner will fix this, or any other ideas how to see player icon and messages when trade/chat box open and also friend list?

First of all, hello settlers, this is my first post on forums :-)

Second, since we lack statistics, it would be nice to have some implementation of in-game notes, to keep track on... well, anything.

Best regards.

I keep track of in game notes etc - it's called a notepad and pencil . . .

you have also got to remember that this game cannot be complicated too much because of the many young players, and people who dont play a lot everyday that do not want to be bombarded with having to look at statistics, after all this is a game.

hey
wouldnt everyone love a system to jot down little reminds of things you need to do, or a small list of units per gold that you normally trade at, or when exactly to pause your gold mine so that it doesnt fully deplete and you can re stock it.

i think it would be good to see a small note icon
that could be enlarged and players could write say 1000 charters in there so that they can do the above

clearly you can write things down by hand or use .txt files, but i play fro multiple pc's and thus would find something like this very useful

let me know what you all think

that is one soloution, but i think there are more elegant ways
woulnt it be better to have it like pinnable quests on the side
easy to see at a glance and optional

{WindowKey+R} TSO.txt

I put the TSO.txt in to a dropbox folder and have a shortcut to it in a directory that's in my system path... One key combo, seven key presses, sorted and synchronised to every PC I own because it's a link to a file in cloud storage.

It might only be me who would like it, but maybe a tab in the chat area for ones personal notes, for instance who many mines needed and what lvl ect.

It don't need to be a tab, it can also be elsewhere.

How about a facility to allow a limited number of notes to be written within the game, to remind the player of things they want to do. A note pad icon at the bottom of the screen with the email and star menu would be a good location. Other games have this facility and it helps, as you can jot down important upgrades to your buildings or things to sell when you next log in, saves pieces of paper stuck onto the side of the computer.

i can see where you are coming from, but isnt a standard windows (or similar) sticky note as good as this for your own use? I hate to poo poo an idea, but this seems easier to do within your own operating program.

http://www.thesettlersonlinewiki.com/images/whitespace.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/OZiFeK2.pngOf course you can also mail yourself the reminder(s) via the ingame mail system.

http://www.thesettlersonlinewiki.com/images/whitespace.pngWhile the popup menu when clicking on you avatar shows the "Send Mail" disabled, you can open the mail window, click "New Mail" and then manually fill in your own name

I have actually suggested the same. My problem is that I'm playing on 3-4 different PC's, so the notepad solution really isn't that great. i'd like a link and note section, so I have easy access to links to adv. guide, battle simulator, loot description etc... so I'd definitely +1 this suggestion.

Presently I get a guild member to send me the link etc I need, but the mailbox gets cluttered with lots of mails on this account. (I didn't know that it was possible to send a mail to yourself as Fexno suggest though... that would minimize the mailbox, but I'd still like the other soulution :) )

Perhaps a new tab/button in the new mail system could be an easy fix to it.

How about an option to actually filter ingame messages by sender?
That should do and also deal with the clutter ...

I would like it if this game had a notebook in game for each player to record anything they need. A place where you could remind yourself what your working on in the game next when you log off. Also to remind yourself of what time your upgrades will be done.

If you are in a guild you can create a note in the guildshield

I use 'Notepad' and keep it on my bottom task bar then just cancel it when i log out unless i want to keep rolling it over. Or 'One Note' is good. Failing that there are loads of apps for sticky notes etc. or a google doc to do list. All one click away or leave open alongside the game in a separate window.

I prefer a note outside of the game so i dont have to log in to look.

I send messages to myself and if someone else is involved I ask them to send me a message stating the thing I need to remember in the subject line so I don't actually have to open the message

I prefer out of game methods, BB ain't all powerfull enough yet to introduce a bug to the humble pencil.

I'd tend to agree that while some note making in the game could have some value, it would just be an extra load on the system and I also work with combinations of TextPad, spreadsheets and Timer reminders for important buffs and such. I don't think I'd use an in-game feature very much.

While "Just get a pen and bit of paper" is a common reply, as is "Here are a number of ways outside the game to store things" these seem rather to miss the point. It would, simply, be convenient and keep people in-game more if there was some sort of ready way of making Notes To Self. Mailing yourself works, until things get buried in buff mails or battle replays, guild notes are handy ~ if one is in a guild. Cat stole your pencil? Pen ran dry? Child ate your crayon? Potter off and hunt up... something... For those who play on multiple computers for brief periods it seems most helpful.

There have been a number of times I've quietly wished I could jot a quick note in-game, one easily found again, but since I am in a guild and can generally lay hands on paper and a pencil/pen/crayon, or mail myself I make do. That doesn't make the idea any less useful.

The most reasonable objections appear, to me, to be bug and load related. Like the Economy Overview which isn't actually needed if one just does the math, in Ye Olde Days the only way of doing things, a notepad isn't Vital, but there are times it would be really nice. If it doesn't cause more problems than it solves.

All merged, thank you!

I do understand 'why' some are asking for this. I just prefer an outside of game note and there are loads of options. In game I whisper myself a temporary note sometimes.

or why not make a huge ingame notepad on your own group forum :) If you list your buffs on there and timings you can invite a friend to the group to see the list when you go on holiday. You dont have to log into your isle to see it either. So if you forget something you can add a note for your friend.
