I had exactly the same problem myself today, I just deleted the Watefox browser cookies for TSO, restarted the browser and got straight in.

Same problem , swapped from firefox to chrome and no problems on chrome.

cleared all cache out on firefox but no different .


Sorted now screen shot for fix on firefox,,,,,,,, basically go into options /privacy / click on remove individual cookies , type in settlers and then click remove all cookies.

after reading thread i cleared history/cache (i use google internet explore has shown me a blank screen for over a year)
when logging on i decided to use uplay (i do not have facebook)
able to log in

IN short , go into your internet options and delete all cookies related to settlers , clear history and cache.

Thanks for this information. i had the same problem.

Could not load the game in chromium.
Firefox started the game
Started chromium again and deleted the cookies for thesettlersonline.com and the game loads this time.

For mac 10.5 and 10.6: sudo dscacheutil -flushcache

4. Try logging in again
5. Please let us know if you experience further issues after trying this. ( We also accept "yay, it worked" feedback :) )

I tried all the steps....still cant log on. Seen to many online games with similar problems. If this starts it will probably continue..oh well another game down the drain. ps i hope for the best

Update: It works now,try to switch reader guys and gals. Then do what Ravel suggests. I did it twice and now my default reader also works.

Rite. Finally i got in. First i switched webreader,uses chrome normally but tried explorer and it worked...cleared all the following again....cache,cookies and dns..so now chrome works again. But try to switch reader first.

Good Morning,
I am having this issue since yesterday afternoon. I have cleared cache and dns as suggested with no change. I usually use chrome and have also tried Internet Explorer with no success.
I note that the error screen that comes up shows 'the settlers online BETA' logo, not the usual logo. Perhaps this is relevant?
I will try the suggested fix again after I have finished work.

Here are couple of reasons why clearing only your computers DNS-cache might not work.

1. Depending on the network you are using it might have its own DNS cache. Some residential gateways (modems and routers) work as DNS proxy and have cache that needs to be also cleared to get the new address resolved correctly.
2. Chrome browser has its own DNS-cache (chrome://net-internals/#dns)

I am getting the same things in Chrome...
However strangely, if you open up Chrome Incognito mode it works fine (hold Ctr-Shft-N)
So that might be a work around for those using chrome.

Still after trying all posts,am unable to connect using my normal Chrome browser. Have managed to connect on IE but prefer my normal browser,which up until this morning after maintainence worked fine

1) i could not connect from my main computer with firefox
2) after reading forum i tried chrome from my laptop and it connected with no problems, so i closed it (just closed browser, no logging off)
3) i tried again firefox in my main computer and now it connected also without problems!!!

Got 3 computers, NONE of them can connect to the game... Starts with an error when i log in. Refreshed the site and it looks normal. Pressing the "Play Now" button just get me to this "An error has occured" site.... Rollback please, there are apparantly an error in your server.

Did everything suggested. Finally got in with Firefox. Then I saw the dns clear tip for Chrome. Tried that. Got in with Chrome. Logged out and tried to log back in again, and I got the error back and a window saying in maintenance. No "yay" from me I'm afraid.

This way it worked for me with Firefox.

Go to Start, type in cmd in the "Search programs and files" field and hit Enter.
A pop-up will open.
Type in ipconfig/flushdns and hit Enter.
Type Exit and hit Enter, or just close the window using the x.

Now, start Firefox.
Log in and if it shows the error then refresh the site.

Go to the Options and choose the "Privacy" tab. Click on remove individual cookies. Type in settlers and then click remove all cookies.

"DO NOT CLOSE THE BROWSER."

Press "Play Now" and it will go to the login screen again. Log in and play the game.

hi guys i was having problems logging in yesterday and today used cc cleaner and delete everything, sorted the problem and now back on buffing and trading again lol. Hope this helps you guys that still not able to log in.

Hello, this is an update on my previous post where following the instructions given for clearing the cache had not worked. After restarting my PC I am now able to log in and play as normal.

When trying to login in Chrome with a Uplay account i get a # added to the site in the adress bar

Same problem for me this morning as eckhausen: "Press OK to refresh your client". Cache & DNS flushed three times. Using Chrome. Seems OK until I try to visit an adventure zone.

edit: Seems fine now - nothing changed, just started working for now.

I'm not sure I can help you, since your have problems on all three browsers. Seeing that the issue is resolved now for the other players, I would assume that you now have another problem (maybe introduced by the problems the game earlier). The fact that you have the problem on all three browser might be explained by you trying to get online while the problems with the game still existed.

I couldn't find out if you tried the steps given by BB_Ravel again after the situation was resolved so just to be sure I'm going to assume you didn't. For now lets see if we can get Firefox to work again.

Do this steps exactly in the order given:

Make sure you are not logged in
Close all Firefox windows except 1 (make sure it is not showing something related to the game)
Clear cookies and cache (Please follow How to clear cookies and cache: Firefox (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/25422-HOWTO-Delete-your-browsing-history-clear-cookies?p=237310#post237310))
Close all your Firefox windows
Clear DNS cache
I don't know which OS you are using, but if it is Windows 7 you can do this
Go to Start, type in cmd in the "Search programs and files" field and then a pop-up will open.
Type in ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.
Unfortunately I have a Dutch Windows, but the end result should look like this

The part I underlined should say something like "DNS cache has been cleared"

Open Firefox
Go to the login page ( http://www.thesettlersonline.com ) and log in
Press "Play"
If that still isn't working go to http://www.thesettlersonline.com/en/play then click in the navigation bar and press CTRL+F5 again

I have the same problem, the map is not loading and i have done all the tips and hint BB_Ravel gave me, and i have tried to loged in on to diffrent computers with out any luck . i have done all the tips that have been posted on this qoute to. the map simlpy dosent load 100% if let it stand loading i get the Message : "time is idle out" i have done what i can do and the promlems is not gone?:mad:

I don't know which OS you are using, but if it is Windows 7 you can do this
Go to Start, type in cmd in the "Search programs and files" field and then a pop-up will open.
Type in ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.
Unfortunately I have a Dutch Windows, but the end result should look like this

The part I underlined should say something like "DNS cache has been cleared"

Open Firefox
Go to the login page ( http://www.thesettlersonline.com ) and log in
Press "Play"
If that still isn't working go to http://www.thesettlersonline.com/en/play then click in the navigation bar and press CTRL+F5 again

i have been waiting to get connetected for five days now, my map is not loading, and People in my guild can not visit my land either, it seems like i am locked out from my land since the map is not loading 100% , it sucks big time that the support is not working a little bit faster

I have had a similar problem since tuesday now. :-(

I have tried to login by using chrome, IE and firefox...all with the same result.
At the best I got in to "approve" a completed daily quest before I get the "connection issue" with the man swinging the hammer on the server.

I have tried changing password (tip from support)
flushing dns cache (in the command window)
delete flash memory
reinstall flash
empty all browsers memories
delet flash memory again
flushing dns cache again

Pinged 300. got ok for 299. 1 lost.

Anyone have any tip? (haven't got a new suggestion/reply from support for the last 24 hours after trying ping etc)

[edit] Seems like there is more players with the same problem and that is not on my side based on the latest reply...but still appreciate if anyone has any tip.

Well i need react too. I have big same problems to connect game. Only 2 things help me to connect. Logout my win 8.1 and log old Xp win start mozzila browser - no problem, or start some Linux os.

In my win 8.1(chrome) is 1:20 chance to log in. I try today mozzila on win 8.1 but i click on login withy facebook, fill the acc and pass and nothink happen, in settlers homepage still unlogged.

I have the same problems also. Nothing that support asked me to do has helped. Then I made new account and tried it in Firefox. Game started, but menus were broken and also the appearance of the game (couldn't start Build menu...). Then I have tried to relog, but after that I couldn't load the game again. Also I have tried with some web proxy sites, but without success.
I am using Windows 7 and newest Flash version. Don't think there is anything problem from the client-user side.

Also it is not logic that game has support only Mon-Fri, 09-17h... Ubisoft, sell the game to somebody else, who will make this game without bugs finally, because it is never ending story.

I got the same issue for a couple of day's now. And the maintenance of today didn't fix it.

Support just say's it's a known issue and they are trying to fix it. In the mean time I got this unhelpful tip:
I strongly suggest clearing your browser's cache, flash cache, and DNS cache No link to a site with information how to actually do this. Luckily some of the information can be found here.

I would have expected more urgency from BB.

It's worse than that MFluffums, it doesn't work on my PC but it does work on my laptop. So it's not your internet connection that is the problem, its something on your pc.

CAUSE PROBLEM found: today I got suggestion from support that it might be some technical issue with this game and ISP (Internet provider) and this is true. What exactly is the problem, I do not know. I have tried from 2 ISP in the same time and it worked through T-com, but not with Amis.
I will keep updates if I will know more.

P.S. Trace route went well and I have sent it to their support. You can have yours if you open your Command prompt and write and hit Enter button after writing:
tracert www.thesettlersonline.com

P.P.S. It seams I have jumped to conclusion that ISP is the problem. It is NOT!

It might have to do with the provider...but how can I do anything about that?
The strange thing is that the game worked one day and suddenly not the next day...without me doing any change of the provider or any other updates.

It's still not working for me relaiably, sometime (ones every couple of days) I can get on for like 10 minutes, after that is time's out and I can't get on anymore.

I Don't think it's a ISP thing because I can get into the game on my laptop that uses the same internet connection + sometimes it also works on my pc.

Really sucks that after such a long time it still isn't fixed.

Hi,
Since yesterday afternoon I can't get online at game. I get both Bluebyte and Settlers loading screen. Then I got blue see color (loading map) sometimes I see Tip of the Day message and right after I get " Connection to the server has been lost" image (a builder with hammering server). Sometime it dissapears and I got blue screen or I get "Please click OK to refresh your client.". I did every step of "[HOWTO] Issues you can check and solve yourself" but still same result.
I use Chrome for game but Firefox is same.

When I was writing this I tried Firefox again and I login for 10-15 mins and game kicked me out again.

Anybody have any idea?

PS. I tried with other computer (chrome) it is working.

Tried on 4 different computers and 2 laptops with internet explorer, firefox and chrome. Have 3 broadband connections, one with sky, one with plusnet and one with BT. None of them work!

Had no problem getting onto the test server though.

I have tried with brand new laptop (from a friend) and it worked on same ISP it did not worked on my computer (so ISP is not the problem). I have done all suggested things and it did not solved my problem. It has now passed over 1 month from the time I have made a ticket to support, but the problem is not solved and there are no new news about it.
I have already lost few hundreds of gems and new event is around the corner, but still there are no news about when the problem will be solved!!

From your post it's obvious there is nothing support can do for you since the problem is your end. As you say a borrowed new computer from a friend worked, so what have you got on yours that they don't have on theirs which could be preventing you from logging in. Have you tried fixing your registry. Have you tried re-installing your browser, have you tried re-installing the OS.

Still I have same annoying error at my desktop computer. I am done;
-Delete Flash data
-Delete browser data (using Chrome but game also dont work on Firefox.)
-ipconfig /flushdns
-Restart both computer/modem
-Game website added to firewall (nod32)

I can play game in same network on my newbook (10.1" monitor :S) and on my parents laptop.

Last thing I will delete Adobe Flash fully then install again.

Does someone have any idea???

Edit: I get this screen after Blue Byte and Settlers Online Loading Screen and Tip Of The Day message. http://prntscr.com/6h90l1 and after this (sometimes) http://prntscr.com/6h959k and after I got a blue sea color screen.

I tried uninstalling chrome, flash for firefox etc and got nowhere. Then I realised on every computer/laptop I have I've installed ESET Internet Security. Uninstalled that on one of the computers and instant result. Uninstalled it on all the other computers and they instantly started connecting again.

Installed latest version of ESET internet security and now everything's back to normal.

So my recommendation is to completely uninstall your internet security software, see if it works without it then if it does install the latest version again.

Playing from Manila Philippines the past couple days, through hotel wifi - have had no problems (although it's a bit slower than I'm used to). Same PC I always use. My wife and I had a lot of weird flash problems while playing a co-op but we've seen those in NZ also.

I cannot connect and have been having problems since yesterday afternoon. I press the Play Now button and it tries to open but I then get a blue screen saying connection issues and that my connection to the server has been lost. Have emailed Support but I don't even think it is going through as I don't get an automatic response email saying they are pursuing my enquiry. I have cleared my cache and tried Firefox and Explorer but still same message. I usually use Chrome. Does anyone have any ideas please?

I see you already cleared the cache, but please make sure you cleared all of it and not just the cache created in the last hour(s)

Maybe you are having the same issue as the player in this post (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/27696-Connection-Failed?p=276228&viewfull=1#post276228) and reinstalling your internet security software will help you too.

In some cases this can point to DNS issues, unfortunately this can't always be solved immediately, but assuming your internet provider already has the correct DNS records, you can try the steps listed in this post (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/27696-Connection-Failed?p=253583&viewfull=1#post253583)

I hope this helps.

Ok great news. I am logged in. Just thought I would let you know what I did in case it helps someone. Cleaned cache, did config /flushdns, did a system restore, scanned the anti virus for bugs and finally installed and then reinstalled my antivirus reinstalled. Also installed my flash even though chrome does it automatically and it finally worked. No more blue screen and connection issues. Thanks for all the advice given over all these pages :)

This is the second time for me. I lost connection mid game on the 15th and could not log back in all day, was able to log in 16th, 17th and 18th without too many issues, just a while to load but today, 19th logged on this morning ok but unable to log back on this afternoon. Very annoying and frustrating as had the free premium going and an adventure planned, now wasted. Have contacted support but know it will be a while before they get back in touch.

Because of my timezine, all maintainence appears to happen in my evening, when I want ot play the game this week - Tuesday evening and Wednesday; last night starts well, and then serious lag, couldn't load generals, move islands or between island and adventure etc etc. Logged out and couldn't get back in, just stuck on the loading page. This morning, same issue - stuck on the loading map page. Am I the only one?

Yesterday 25/mar/2015 it took me over 12 hours to log in started at 9:00 am and hardly logged in at 11:35 pm it was not my browser or internet speed (8 mb/s)

i missed 12 hours for 3 explorers and when i logged ..no (guild / trade / help or global tabs exist)

This morning I entered the game and sent some armies on an adventure. Now, 2 hours later, I have 7 failed attempts to login and go battle. The message is "Error. Sorry, an error occured. Please refresh the page and try again. <OKAY>" and reappears after the refresh and the new try. What is this?

Our technicians have have been alerted and are now working on fixing the problem.
The issues don't appear to be constant so you should manage to connect eventually.

Uninstalling my virus scanner (Eset Nod32) solved the connection issues for me. So it's worth a shot if you still have problems.
