Is this Settlers?

I just started playing this game, but to me it has nothing to do with the original Settlers games.

There are no roads, which requires planning of routes and priority of goods to carry between buildings. There is no deistribution of goods between storehouses, to optimize what is needed where. The game is missing the whole element of planning how to get everything on the land to run smoothly.

This is nothing but a waiting game (like many others out there), which can be speeded up for the impatient ones for real money.

My suggestion is to actually make an online version of the game Settlers, because this is not it.

What did you expect ?

This is a browsergame and it is free to play.
You can get the game with the graphics and things you are use to in the offlline type game.
But I don't think it will be free, beause of the difficult nature of making that work like the offline game.

This is a settler type game, maybe not as sphoisticated as Settlers 7, but it is a settlers game.
This is a real time strategy type of game, yes it can be speeded up, but that would talke the fun out of it.
Take some time and explore what it can do, get in touch with the community behind it, and you will find it is more than just a nice screensaver with chat :)

I agree. Building roads and linking resources with industries, in efficient ways, was the key to the Original Settler's game play. And most of the fun.

As for this version being "free". Unless you want to spend days waiting for resources to accrue and work to be completed, you are pretty much obliged to buy gems to get things done.

NO, you're not.
It's clear that, either way, you're doing something wrong, or you're lvl5 and you know everything about the game already. And your knowledge is just plain..wrong.
Im not defending the devs, or game..this is a fact. You dont HAVE TO spend a single gem on speeding up building times. As a matter of fact, very few percent of ppl does that, cause its stupid! Much easier way is to join a guild, senior members (high levelers) will gladly help you with the ressource and thats it. NOT A SINGLE GEM SPENT ON THAT.

Other story is if you want MMA (general) or something else. If you want it, give devs some hard earned money, and you'll get it.

Babbling about how this game is all about gems to "get things done" is simply a lie.

You have to factor in several things the settlers franchise was conceived by Blue Byte, Ubisoft then took over Blue Byte later on. So this is Ubisoft's game. They have made a reasonable game that falls into the settlers family. They are working under the constraints of this being a browser game. If it was a client based game I'm sure it could be more in depth than it is.

It is specifically designed to be monetized there are several key places where the temptation to spend RL money are factored in. They released articles where they stated so. It is still feasible to gain many hours of enjoyment playing it and totally free, all of the content can be obtained free it just takes a long time and you have to be smart about your choices.
