View Full Version : Syntax Errors trying to log in

Been having problems trying to log in siince the update 3-4 weeks ago. Getting messages like "client cant find data" etc. Of course I did all the normal things. Ran my antivirus, cleared the cache, set the cache to clear auto, tried 3 or 4 different browsers. made sure they were all update, java up too date, adobe flash, etc etc. My computer is in great shape :P Trying to get into game has gotten worse since the update this week, its taking 7-8 tries before I can get on. Well tonight I got Syntax Error. I wrote down the exact message. [ Error parsing game_settings.xml: Syntax Error:Assert! gParse:Want to add upgrade bonuses at the wrong position: 0 !=5. Please check game settings! ] Thought this might help SOMEONE . Someone that knows what this is , and if there is something I can do, or if its something the tech guys need to help . I can't be the only one having this problem. It's not making the game very fun to play. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

The errors you are mentioning do feel like a caching problem, but since you already cleared cache and tried different browsers I'm not sure what I could advise. You could try to clear your flash cache as well (since you already tried the rest). To clear your flash cache you can use this page (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html), and just press the remove all button.
The only other thing I can think of, is to make sure nothing is interfering, so close down other applications and webpages and see if it works for you then.

Ok Fexno......thanks....yeah, I tried all those too.....when I went to flash to DOUBLE check I was running the latest........I did fond one of my browsers out of date while doing all this, but it was the one I rarely use. I usually use chrome or IE. I'll just contact support.

no word yet, issues continue i see quite a few people have been reading this post, is anyone else having all these Data-Client issues...getting kicked, having problems getting in ? Last night it took 17 tries and 3 different browsers :( This is SUPPOSE to be relaxing
For the past hours I've been unable to login - are the server offline or something? Only thing I see after entering credentials is the screen 'Connection to server lost' Please click OK to refresh your client. If I click OK I get "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server."
Please try following the advice here (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/27498-HOWTO-Issues-you-can-check-and-solve-yourself) and if that does not work, send in a ticket to support explaining the problem (screenshots included).

Thanks, I will try those. However on the most recent try I also encountered a different error (image attached).
No, nothing seems to help unfortunately :(
Cleared the cache, did everything in the suggestions but no, it did not help. I am at loss here.

I have been playing settlers online for about 4 months and I have not run to this kind of problem before. And suddenly today everything stopped working. I have not updated my system nor I am aware of any updates made by my network provider.

Since you tried the most common suggestions and tried another computer, I have no idea how to help you further. I'm afraid you will have to contact Support again.
The last error you got really feels like a caching issue, so you might try that again, to make sure you removed all cache.

I had a similar problem for 2 days - oddly what helped for me was to log in (not into the game, only into my account) - then LOG OUT without entering the game, clear browser cache, then shut down my computer, then restart, then relog ... and all of a sudden it worked.

I've also not heard from customer support for three days and still unable to login. Too bad I was just about to finish an adventure. Fexno and Sharpielein thanks but did not help.
I have reported this issue and it's being looked into.
Please let me know if you keep getting it or if there are any improvements.

I did all clearing of the cache but still not working. and it used to be fine 1 hour ago. My PC was not even turned off, i just came and it told me to refresh, since that moment i cant log in :(
For a week now I've been unable to login. Really frustrating.
This is currently being investigated. If you have this issue, please let support know, as they are currently gathering more info.
