View Full Version : Bonus award for finding all the collectables

This idea came from analyzing how myself perceive this quest. For an ex. if one or two are left to be found, I'm just saying to myself "oh well, I'll find more next day" So it would be more challenging for me and others I believe, an award to be presented for finding all the collectibles. I leave room for discussion, if this is also wanted by others and what that award should be.

I agree
My idea would be - if you find them all there will be 1/2 more next drop.
If you miss some there will be 1/2 less next drop - so eventually you will find them more easily, or they will not show up if you are not interested.
If you keep hunting and find them all, you will continue to get more of them.

been covered already, it's the way it is because otherwise you could spend all day looking for something that isn't there.

No thanks. As Bluesavanah says, you'd end up spending lots of time looking for something that isn't there. I'd rather see that BB removed the collectibles and focused on implementing useful things instead. It's mind-numbing enough to click for half an eternity to train new troops for an adventure. We don't need more clicking, we need more gameplay value.

Does any1 know what the rewards are for collecting all the Collectables. I seem to be spending a lot of time collecting for no apparent reason.

No, they should not do anything more the collectables. Don't give them any silly ideas. They entire system with the collectables is bad and it is still flat out broken. They really REALLY need to fix the collectables so they actually spawn first before they even think about doing anything more with them. That includes introducing pumpkins as collectables during the Halloween event.

Collectables are there to make buffs in Mayors house. There is no award for collecting them all ( except some personal gratification ;) ) which is why this thread was created.

I have noticed some of mine are spawning late again since the footy event, is it a bug ? or have BB reduced server capacity for the game ( between events ) I wonder ? as general lag is being reported in chat a lot recently, and this could be another reason for slow spawning.

If you get a Coll quest refresh, then it's a late spawn (server-side). Otherwise it might be a zone update issue (client-side)

I still think there should be an award for collecting ALL on map....maybe a doubler or something! ;-)

how about no barrels, herbs, scarecrows next spawn?

Herbs and scarcrows are very useful since the RPH recipe Marble Mountain.

Yes, refill some marble deposits before logging off to avoid running them/all empty.

I think the collectibles are great, they don't need to change, and the rate they appear seems to be a min+random formula (minimum of x hours, + y-z hours random). It would be nice however if there was a bonus for getting all of them - I think the easiest would be an extra random collectible. If you don't like them, don't do them - but many of the things you can make in the mayor's house are quite nice (Sargent Skunk, Golden Ribbon, Potion of Endless Energy, etc.)

after looking at TO just by accepting available offers (which as a rule is a bad idea) you can get the marble instantly for the price of scarecrows and buff (i assume you would run x2). no waiting and still herbs left.

after looking at TO..
Yes, there's almost allways a sollution to everything in TO; BUT if you'd like to play the game in a self sufficient way, then herbs and scarecrows are very useful since the RPH recipe Marble Mountain.

I would like to suggest that players, especially lower levels would be encouraged to collect all collectibles, as I feel sure that they are unaware how important the buffs that can be made come in useful at a slightly higher level. If a reward was given for finding all of them, say 10 gold coins, it would give them an incentive to complete it as a quest.
Feel free to add a suggestion and comment if you feel it's worthy of a change being made.
Thanks all.

The primary purpose of collectables is to produce various buffs via the Mayor's House to help you in your efforts to build/manage your island. We currently feel that this in itself is the "reward" for taking the time to collect them; treat them as a daily bonus.

With the Fairy Dust buff you can get collectibles moved from hidden places almost for free; no need to look for 8 hours to find the last one(s)

Yep don't forget about this - easy to do since it wasn't added long ago!

I know collecting Collectables has its own reward in the stuff you can make with them, but lets be honest most of us have several hundred if not thousand of most of it, so we just collect those we stumble across....

Why not have a Crystal reward for collecting them all..?

Then maybe for those that are really dedicated a 7 day extra bonus..? 50 gems...?

It's been suggested before (and I'm in favor of that) but I think that BB said that what you can make in the Mayor's house is the reward, so I don't think they plan to do anything along those lines.

Indeed, it has been suggested before, here (https://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/27587-reward-for-collecting-al-collectibles) and here (https://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/33770-Collectibles). I can't recall BB commenting on the idea, but certainly other players have suggested that the being able to make stuff with the collectibles is already a reward for collecting them.

collectables are a minor part of the game and that suits me fine. i dont want to feel forced into spending hours looking for them. even with fairy dust i have missed some. my vision isnt really bad but i do struggle to see any detail in settlers so imagine how those with poor vision will complain...
