View Full Version : Time to see the new fisherman
Dear Mr BB,
i wish to see a fisherman that has no need of fish refills and fish pools. Can't you make one that goes into the deep sea with his catamaran and hunts sea monsters, whales etc with fishing nets or even harpoons and brings the fish to the island. I must be honest and say that it isn't fair to have deerstalkers and no sea monster fisherman ("whale hunter" also sounds nice for a new building name).
hello, this has been suggested previously, but its still a good one imo +1

I would like to see some sort of Fish Farm that can be placed on water space (like Floating Residences) that way we can get a fish equivalent of the Deerstalker and free up some space on the main island replacing normal Fishermen.... win, win!
This is a good idea.
Pros:
- Free up some space
- comfort
Cons:
- Now 1k fish ~ 9 gold. The price would decrease longer
Some new consumable would be needed in order for the value of the fish not to decrease at the same time.
I checked the price of fish in the TO today and found 2K fish on offer for 5 coins, and 50K for 150 coins (3 coins/K). Before the introduction of fish farms, the low-end price was around 14 coin/K.
I am seriously considering demolishing my fish production and producing more wheat/brew/bread to use to trade for fish.

fall 2014 fish was 14/k? ridic price.. Are you sure there isn't something more profitable than wheat/brew/bread?

I don't ever remember fish being higher than 7/k [Northisle], but since I play mostly self-sufficient, it sure would be a nice addition.
How about even making it so we can convert fish farms (+ X gems) into Deep Sea Fishers?

Of course, Damascene swords or book fittings would be more profitable, but the raw resources are more difficult to obtain. Titanium can only be obtained in quantity through adventures, and I don't have a great deal of time to spend on those - I just do what I need to do for GQ etc. I have to work hard for a living and can't spend 8 hours a day on here.
fish are more profitable than wheat. not sure about the other 2 as i really dont have the will to work it out, but i would guess that fish also are more profitable than both of them.

Not according to the evidence that I have witnessed in the TO - I can usually buy fish for 3-6 coin/K. Wheat is usually 12-20/K. I would normally provide screen shots to back what I say up, but trade in fish is slow at the moment, but the TO is quiet at the moment.
Here's a couple of screenshots to illustrate what I mean, taken from the TO about 10 mins ago.

I find myself wondering how the price of fish on the NFL server constitutes a game suggestion

by your own evidence:
fish 3-6 coin, average = 4.5 coin
wheat 12-20 coin, average = 16 coin
Fish farms require no top ups to feed, rebuilding of fields, or silos to waste space on the map.
Yet the fish farm produce 5 fish every 3 mins that's 100 per hour so in 10 hours its = 1k fish worth 4.5 coins, that's 0.45 coins per hour (iv not included traveling times mainly because mine would be different to yours, yours would be different to Topgear and so on.
Farms do require a lot more space either through fields/silos or a combo of both, the rebuild costs of fields, or others may well use top ups on fields, one way or another this has a value depending on how long the player has played for. its a matter of perspective.
A farm produces 5 wheat every 12 mins that's 25 an hour that's 40 hours = 1k, worth 16 coins, that's 0.4 coin per hour
the difference in traveling times with farms getting the benefits (Verses) silo's (wasted space because a silo has a production value of 0), top ups, rebuild costs... calls that about evens. overall the fish farms offers better value per hour than farms.
Although I just dont care enough to work out brew or bread, due to the size of the chains needed and the water/wheat intake i doubt they would offer better than 0.45 an hour.
edit:
totally forgot about lvl 6 farm, lvl 6 farm would = 0.48 per hour on farm, but then if your demolishing your fish farms for it, at what point does it break even on the upgrade costs? Then what if fish farms are the next lvl 6 upgrade? This would turn it on its head yet again..i still don't think for example:
If you have 30 farms + 10/11 imp silos = 40/41 buildings
Or
41 fish farms.
The wheat producing more per hr in coin.
no time now work calls.
I'm curious as to people's views over a year later? I only have a fisherman so that I can complete any daily or quests requiring me to produce fish, I buy all my fish in the TO apart from that, often getting them for about 1 coin/1000. I foresee the same devaluation of bread following the improved production chain (again, I buy bread in bulk in the TO rather than produce it).
i dont buy fish but i see no need to use anything other than fish farms. not so sure bread will fall to much in price as it takes a lot more production that fish
