View Full Version : Update "Travelling Erudite"

Now that we have 3x-Speed Explorers that bring back buffs with a high probability on EVERY search, and usually quite useful buffs at that (all x3 or better) - it's about time that the Skill "Travelling Erudite" gets updated.
Just compare:
Lucky Explorers give you buffs quite often, for free, on every search.
Travelling Erudite is a top skill, requiring an investment of 30 Science Books, and has a chance to return single FISH PLATTERS - or Solar Flares, or or or ...
The only reason to get Travelling Erudite is for a slim chance to receive a Rainbow snow (about once a week), the rest is pretty much discardible.
And Travelling Erudite requires investing a lot of books into skills that the Explorer will not even be using (reduced time for treasure searches / adventures / better loot from treasure searches yada yada).
Suggestion:
Update the "Traveling Erudite" skill:
Turn it into EXACTLY the same special that Lucky Explorers already have: 50% chance to return a buff from the same list that LE's use, on EVERY search conducted by the Explorer.
Have you forgotten that Erudite and Lucky's don't find the same buffs.
My usage of Lucky's would indicate that the longer the search the higher the chance of them bringing back a buff.
Sorry but I'm strongly against what you suggest.

^^ what Dorotheus said... in Spades!
Though I do agree that Travelling Erudite bringing back single platters/sandwiches/baskets should be changed...
...at least give us stacks of 25 of those three for <insert diety of choice here>'s sake!

No I haven't forgotten that, else why should I have mentioned it?
Yea, I know, the Lucky's can't find Solar Flares and stuff, but seriously - why do you want to spend 30 books in order to find a buff worth 1 fish in the shop?
My usage of Lucky's would indicate that the longer the search the higher the chance of them bringing back a buff.
Why does it matter? It's not like with the Erudite, you'd have a choice.
Shouldn't you?
Sorry but I'm strongly against what you suggest.
You are STRONGLY against Travelling Erudite being a useful skill? Why would that be?

I feel befuddled.
Am I the only player who doesn't need Cheese Sandwiches, Solar Flares and Sandman Powder?
Who would prefer a Damascene Hammer or Fermentation Accelerator towards a Solid Sandwich or Fish Platter?
Who thinks a Stadium Snack or Zombie is better than a Pasta Blowl or Roat Duck?
Maybe if someone clues me in what I do so wrong in this game, I'll understand :(

OK,
willing to adjust my suggestion:
1) Replace the "trash" buffs (Solar Flare, Fish Platter, Triangle Sandwich, Solid Sandwich) with the common buffs from the Lucky Explorer - Gold Fever, Damascene Hammer, Employee of the Month, Mother Tree Ritual.
2) Add chances to find Zombie and Stadium Snack.
3) Make the Erudite also find buffs when hunting for regular treasure.
Still opposed?
I have a Lucky Explorer fully trained into that tree and today he returned with TWO RAINBOWS, yes, that was TWO RAINBOWS!!
I don't see your problem

You're lucky. But that wasn't so special because of the Travelling Erudite, but because of the Lucky Explorer himself.
So you're saying because there is a 1:500 chance for 2x Rainbow Snow (which translates to approximately 10 coins per search) is worth investing 30 books, where people are willing to go out on a limb to obtain this skill?
On Northisle pay 6000 coins for RBN, which has a 5% chance to get 2x Codex - so effectively, it costs roughly 500k coins to buy the adventures to get 1x Erudite and then - yay, you have an average of 10 coins per search! Yay!
Not to forget that without investing any Codexes (only 6 Manuscripts) you can find an average 12 Granite per search, so effectively, you're selling 12 Granite for 10 coins.
No problem, really, it's a "get rich quick" scheme ... lol :)
Oh, plus let's not forget: Those who got Erudite before Lucky Explorers came out CAN'T get double rainbows without spending another 1500 gems.

Please stop twisting everything I said.

just keep making books and invest them in the lucky, no need to spend 1500 gems there.
Oh yes it takes time, but why rush everything and make it easier to get bored instead of working towards a goal ?
Same with changing the finds, what's the purpose ? get more rbs and sell them to get rich even faster or use on coinages with the same result ?
Nothing is more fun then screaming at explorers returning more garbage

you may get some duff buffs from using Erudite but it beats Bean-a-coala 1000% you may want to complain more if you put that on your explorers as i dont know how 200 coal virtually every time from a rairty search would make you feel. Coal a rarity lmao:D

i have'nt experienced much luck with lucky explorer.....i send him out mainly medium searches 1/5 maybe 1/4 he brings a buff back and most of them are for brewer, aint got books to get him fully trained yet so hope it gets better....but thats way way in the future as its ridiculous making science books, tried bandits nest but 10 RTBN out of 60 bandits is just as bad....
If you made changes to this skill you would need to adjust them all. Otherwise this one would be extremely over powered and the others painfully under powered. I would support an update to all the final skill trees as I think they are all pretty weak.
If you compare them on how much coins u can make from each, the buff skills chance to get even 1 snow a week gains you over 2k coins on my server. The other skills dont come close to that figure. I am finding it very hard to justify putting books into the others. I am doing it anyway just for the shear variety of it. But it doesnt make sense to choose something else if you compare them according to what coins worth u can make.
In saying that I have to assume on other servers snow doesnt cost all that much, or beans cost a lot more etc to make any of the others a viable cost effective option. But on Newfoundland snow trumps all the all others hands down.

maybe at some point they will nerf erudite to make it just as bad as bean-a-coala....so no one gains an advantage...lol

I think they already nerfed it, because i get alot more crap compared to before the football event

Since June, which is quite a long time, I got 0x Rainbow Snow, but maybe 30x Triangle Sandwich, 15x Solid Sandwich, 5x Fish Platter and a whole boatload of Solar Flares... yeah, seriously: Really worth the 30 books investment lol :D
(not to mention I got 2x Rainbow Snow and 5 Stadium Snacks from my Luckies since Mid-July)

No i complete agree, i spent a lot of time train all my explorers to that level and now, even though i have 3 luckys, i do not benefit as much.
IMO they should remove the buffs you can make yourself as they are of no benefit and the Helpful scarecrows and replace the Cheese sandwiches with love potions and drop % drop

Really ? No not saying you made this up but Lucky will NOT find 2 rainbow snow in 1 search see below.

You can't get it period, lucky doesn't find rainbow snow. End of
What people should have done is got a lot of Rttbn at xmas, but as with most things in the game people only see as far as their nose.

Well, problem is not all people had 120123034123 presents at Xmas.
I invested everything into a mix of RBN and MSE but that was about 30 RBN: I got 1x 3 Codex and about 12 Manuscripts from these.
But at least I got enough Chocolate Rabbits for the next half year.
Don't blame people for not being billionaires or being habitually unlucky.
