Same error on Sandycove...
Having the same problem useing normal log-in if i log-in with facebook it works
The issue appears to be solved for most users reporting it. Please let me know (and also send a ticket to support) should you experience further issues.
Clearing cache and restarting the computer might help.
Not solved for me.
Can't even send a ticket as the support form uses the same api as the login to validate the email address and it returns 503 Service Unavailable.
I had to reset my forum password to get in to the forum.
still getting this error now
I suspect that Uplay can be the problem, had to relog about 4 times before I got in again...
I spoke too early, it tells me to clear cache again

I had the same problem i use (F5) update 4 times to go to the Settlers
Not solved. Couldn't even log on earlier, but now I can log on and when I try to click play, i get this message after a while:
"File failed to load.
The client was unable to load a data file.
Delete your browser cache and try again."
Same problem on 2 PCs, and clearing cache has no effect.
Edit:
Just tried to install Chrome (no old settlers cache at all), and got the same error. Usually I use IE, but obviously this isn't a browser issue.

I just need to add that FB login should only be used if you are already using FB to login to the game. If you are normally logging in via Uplay, trying FB login might create issues on your account and it's better avoided.

Please make sure to also contact support on this issue. We did indeed have some Uplay login issues later today, but it was an entirely different error.

Not happy.
BB_Ravel, I managed to get in a few minutes ago.
I've been having problems to log in in the last couple of days and my cache is completely empty.
same for me - says clear cache - but that does not help
I got a guildie can't login, been trying all day, different browsers different laptops flushdns clear cache resetting router rebooting windows dont help.
I have suggested walking barefoot in puddles, standing on head and drinking a glass of water upside down and the old favourite of a cold key down back of shirt.
I'm quite confident my ideas will be at least as successful as BB suggestions.
So this messed up my buffing. I have quite a few buildings running that I do not want to have running with no buffs on. Guess they'll have to give us something better than a cheese sandwich and some marble this time around because it's been down for hours.
They gave us some "Treasure".. 250 omniseed, 1 day premium and some other stuff..
Same here. I've been having it for the last 3 days without it being able to load properly. I've cleared the cache/cookies and some other things on Firefox. Also tried the solutions above by no avail.
Yesterday I could log in after spending two days without managing to do it but today I can't do it again. I've cleaned my cache and cookies so it's really a technical proble that you can't seem to be able to solve.
They gave us some "Treasure".. 250 omniseed, 1 day premium and some other stuff..
And after that they broke something again. Notice how the first page said that the issue was fixed when it clearly wasn't?
I think there's been two problems.. The one still remaining is about the flash update..
Having problem too. But refreshing some times and I come in

Have to refresh at least 4-5 times evertime I start the game. When I finally do get in there is no sound so i have to refresh again...Clearing the cache does not help at all.
Hey everyone!
In last few days trying to log most of time I get msg that I cant log on and I need to clear my cache and then try again. I cleared cache but it didnt help, so I have to constantly restart browser. Any suggestions?

Very annoying. I need to clear my cache every time I log in, which means I need to relog everywhere else.
Fix it unplease.
I had the same problem i use (F5) update 4 times to go to the Settlers
Same here (thou I used ctrl+F5, to make sure it would be a real update without cached content, when I was given that clear cache popup message) and got in.
I must say this starts to get very anoing. Almost everytime I log in i get this and connection lost during adventures and fixing on my own island. This wnet more bad after last service. I will not be in for the Halloween event if this is not fixed. It it not worth high bloodpreasure because of anger....
It's good to share issues and offer help/solutions on the forum. We have many threads and good contributions from players and we say thank you for that.
But please make sure you also contact support (http://www.thesettlersonline.com/en/help-and-support), especially with login and/or loading game issues and most certainly if it is recurring or unresolved. Include as much detail about the issue as possible including steps you have taken to try and resolve the issue yourself. Support will respond to your external email, the one your account is registered to, with a resolution to the issue.

hi,
cannot log in to TSO because of "the client was unable to load a data file, delete your browser cache and try again"
I am running Mac OSX. The change appeared after upgrading to the latest OS and Safari.
Deleted cache from browser (safari and firefox), deleted flash data, did all Onyx maintenance.
Any ideas out there?

I'm in Newfoundland server....didn't try a different server. That's a thought . But I did restart my browser and clear cache....my browser settings are set to clear every time I close the browser anyway. I'm getting this message :
Error parsing game_settings.xml:syntax Error Assert! gParse:want to add upgrade bonuses at the wrong positions:O!=5 Please Check Game Settings

It now APPEARS to be fixed :/ Thank you
Not here, still getting it. Somewhat annoying to clear cache and to do some other wiggling every time I want to play.
The error has been reported. This issue has been under investigation since last week. Please make sure to also contact support regarding the issue.
Thank you!
This can't be coincidence that these problems started when the English Closed Beta of The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria started.
Every time I load the game some of the of files from static14.cdn.ubi.com/settlers_online/live/SWMMO/GFX_HASHED/ can't be loaded and the server returns status of 503 (Service Unavailable) for those files.
The game can start/work without some of the images or sounds but when a file ending with .xml_enc is not downloaded the pop-up appears informing that some of the files couldn't be downloaded and asks me to clear the cache.
I still have to refresh about 3-6 times to get my island to load, when getting the "the client was unable to load a data file, delete your browser cache and try again" , surely I shouldn't have to clear cache every time I want to play TSO.

For me, 2 times, using ctrl+F5.

This is most idiotic bug I ever noticed in my life. Upon receiving message saying "the client was unable to load a data file, delete your browser cache and try again" the most important thing is... DON'T DELETE BROWSER CACHE!!!. :D :D :D Hilarious!!! :D :O :D :P :D
Yes. This is not a browser cache issue, but flash cache issue. Bad boy is not browser, but bb's server static14.cdn.ubi.com. This server simply refuses to upload some required file to client. This is not a browser issue. This is server issue. BB, pretty please can we have "Delete Server Cache and try again" button now? :D :O :D :P :D
FIX: Click refresh every time you see the "clear browser cache" message. Don't clear browser cache. Just hit F5 and refresh. Time after time. Repeatedly. Don't give up. Login is guaranteed... eventually, but it is.
Edit: There is also something wrong with forum displaying all of the smileys. Go bugs go. :D
The issue is still under investigation for now.
Thank you all for the reports! I have passed them on to the technicians trying to fix this problem.

Problem still persists for me, as it has done everday for the last couple of months. As above ... the game eventually loads up but takes a couple of attempts.
I usually leave the game open all day so only have to go through the rigmarole once a day.
Be nice to see it fixed though :-)

Just in case you were unaware Ravel, there did seem to be an outage on Saturday afternoon/ evening. Several players on Sandycove mentioned it once I got in, after being unable to log in for half an hour myself. ( could not even log in to forum to ask/report ) So Hoompah_Umpah you were not alone ;)

Well, I just had this bug for a while - about half an hour - and I have to say, it's exceptionally useful for you to repeatedly tell people unable to log-in, to go and report it on a page that requires you to first log in.
