Dear BB
I would like to apply for a job as dev at BB HQ. I feel I have many attributes that would fit in well with your style of working.
I often have ideas about the game, and when I ask others what they feel about it, and they tell me its rubbish but they would appreciate other more important stuff gets fixed, I ignore them carry on regardless.
Then I ask them to theoretically test this new idea out and let me know what needs fixing. They tell me umpteen things thats wrong, but I dont listen to them and carry on.
Then it is realised that this idea would totally screw the game up and make many people unhappy for over a week, but I know they wouldnt really mind; so I dont listen to them or try to let them know that Im looking at ways to fix things.
As you can see, I think Id fit in well at TSO HQ.
My last job? I was a game developer, but lost my job cos so many players lost heart and stopped spending the money that paid my wages...

I am sure you will get shortlisted :-)
In fact, no need for an interview here. You should get the job right away :-p

Tehee... you will feel right at home I'm sure :)
Please people do not bother replying to jollyfog's thread as he is in training to become a Dev for BB and therefore cannot read or reply to any of your posts.
Your time would be much better spent a rival MMORPG's forum:cool:
promotion prospects look good for you jolly
Or they could hire me instead. I have prior programming skills in the form of BASIC, Matlab and Python, neither of which are used in this game. I have some experience in game design since I've made a basic Snake game in Python and a simple text version of Battleship on my calculator. I have also played several games. On top of that, I have a basic understanding of maths since I hold a MSc in Engineering. Furthermore, I am not a monkey. I am therefore much more qualified than the current dev team who seems to be a flange of monkeys and lack the maths skill required to do basic multiplication. Send me a PM and we can talk terms and payment.

Anyone who blames the 'devs' doesn't know the first thing about how software development is done in the real world :P
Start with Program/Product Managers and work your way up to the CEO -- that's where the blame usually belongs. If it truly was up to the software development team, products would rarely ever ship as they would either be trying to add 'one more feature' or fix 'one more bug'. Sadly, its management/accountants/marketing that is pushing for an earlier and earlier release (often even when the development team says it isn't ready).

Well they can't really be under that much pressure considering the snails pace they are working at. Remember when they first started talking about PvP? That was years ago. It took them 10 days to sort of solve the problems with the explorer weeks and they deployed it on even more servers even though they had a weeks worth of bug reports telling them it was broken. This is from a simple multiplication of 0.8. They could have just reverted it and spent some time fixing it before deploying it again but no. Lets spread the bugs. Their solution to that particular bug actually caused a new bug when they ended explorer week so there was even more problems. Again, all they were doing was multiplying with 0.8. Considering the production time of everything and the amount of bugs, I'd say that the actual developers are incompetent. Then they in turn are bossed around by more incompetence which makes it even worse.
Maybe we should aim SETI at the BB office but it seems like they have better luck finding intelligent life scanning empty space.
I think this game is side project of the company and no one really cares about it that much.
