View Full Version : unit icons above generals are soooo annoying!
Since the unit icons appear above a general when hovering over one is not very userfriendly!
I wonder who was the genius that invented that?
The icons are okay but they're in the way so often, that it would be way more useful if a small would appear like 2 inches to the left or right.
Same as loading a general with troops, and same question, I wonder who was the genius that invented that?
and same solution just let the window appear a few inches to the left or to the right.
WOOOW, and i don't even get payed as a dev for such a smart solution!
Com'on get real, i can't possible the only player who thinks this way.
Grtzzz and use it in your own advance
I love the icons above generals and camps.
Agreed those icons give me hard time sending out generals when blocking, would be much happier without them.
The idea is good but like most other things it is badly implemented. It should disappear when the mouse pointer moves away from the garrison. Currently, it stays if the mouse pointer hovers on the pop-up which is bad design. Then it gets in the way and blocks stuff. That's highly annoying. So it's a very easy fix. Lets see if the devs are smart enough to manage to fix it or if they will keep being useless.
i like them, they are really useful.
I also like being able to send multiple gens to an adventure from one screen :)
It is slightly annoying - but zooming in a little gets around it for now.
Of slighly more concern to me is the attitude and tone of players towards the devs? Why should they want to help us with all the abuse and an almost complete lack of praise for anything that they do in a game that all users purport to enjoy.
Sure there are some frustrations - but let's cut them some slack for all the good times they've given us. Criticism is so out of control that it must be hard for them to take it seriously - what is real and what is just troll vitriol.
I for one say +1 to the devs. Sure, I look forward to my generals calming down on Roaring Bull but there's little to dislike in anything else they've delivered. Just tweaks - which if there was calmer, nicer feedback, then it might be easier for them to see what needed to be fixed rather than assuming that nothing is well received.
I like option to send multiple gens on adv, save time, but that unit icons and names of generals -- bad bad idea !

Blocking, or technically camp distraction, is a feature that is officially not supported in the game besides PvP. So annoying or not this improvement is actually welcome by most players including me.
I'm not a fan of them either +1 to the op, I find them annoying intrusive ugly.

Most players? and you know this how?
It is of course fine for you to have an opinion, But to suggest you speak for the majority is something completely different. I cant see how you would know this unless you have done a large scale poll/vote.

There is no need to make a poll to know it. It's useful improvement. Or you prefer to continue clicking every single camp to check what army you have? But whining that unsupported game feature is not working is not going to bring any results.

Most or may I add all people I know use blocks, officially supported or not, and I`m sure huge majority of tso players use blockings as well.

I'm using blocks as-well and I don't have any issues with the pop-ups. One needs to know where and how to use the mouse to click on the correct place.
On other hand I already suggested (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/29614-Feedback-Change-Log-25-11-2014?p=269282&viewfull=1#post269282) that such UI features must have an option to turn them on/off on player's discretion. It'll optimize the UI speed for people with slower PCs.

Okay, for one, when zooming in it's kind a hard to send a general straight to a camp, try that, for example, in Outlaws. one of the few adv's left with a descent loot drop. the distance is too large when using blocks to zoom in.
And although a lot of players will argue with the idea that blocking wasn't supposed to be used. If that would be correct then every gen would get intercepted. or am i wrong on that one too?
for second, you're right, my tone set in the thread is a bit arrogant and i think also that complaining is easy, so sorry to the dev's for that.
(Not that they will take notice of anything written on forum imo.)
And yes i am thankful for a free of charge game like tso, and also aware that it's a profit based company. They don't maintain a game like this to pleas people like us. it's all based on making money, and a lot of players buy gems.
i am thankful for the window to send multiple generals to an adventure.
i am thankful for the possibility that in the near future it will be possible to make multiple stacks.
And as a third, when creating such a great browsergame, then it must come on to their mind that when a player is mounting it's generals, it's very unhandy when that window pop's up right on top of all generals, like i said, it's way more handy to skip that window like 2 inches to the side, so you can see what you're doing.
just tweaking

Check my post. no whining, just my feedback, Markos isn't whining either, its feedback. It maybe useful but its poorly implemented to the point where I have 15 generals land and its awkward to navigate around. Doesn't really matter if im blocking or not, its annoying whatever I do.

So your solution is to completely remove it or give an option to turn it on/off? And why is your opinion more valuable than the rest that actually like it?
Can you please quote the part where I said my opinion is more important that anyone else's? I was just giving my own personal feedback. As I understand I don't speak for the entire community lol.

Sorry if quoting you created a confusion. I mean all that don't like it not just you. And you're right - this is feedback after all. I just expect it to be more constructive than an opposition to the rest of us that want it. So I believe we can all agree that an on/off option is much more desired than completely removing the pop-ups.
+1 for the on off button.
If some people like it fair enough. Most of my guild don't use the forums but do not like it. Makes moving around more difficult and harder to select correct generals when zoomed out.
They are useful when I just want to check the troops but in the way when I want to click on the camp (my own or enemy). Especially if I zoom out - which I have to do a lot because I have a small screen and I haven't developed the skill to scroll the map while sending attacks.
The general names were a good idea - I was all for being able to tell apart my generals because I usually remember which one holds what troop that way, but the two lines of text obscur the graphics - especially while zoomed out, and I have trouble telling where to click or whether I put my camp down in the place I wanted to or one square to the right.
So I'd suggest to remove player name from my own camps and put the info window a little higher or to some other place where it doesn't prevent me from clicking on a camp.

Have you tried to rename your generals? I'm calling mine B(lock)*1..10, V(eteran)1..2, M(ajor)G(eneral) etc. I hope you get the picture. This way the second line doesnt take so much space on the screen and it's even easier to follow guides where blocks are just numbered.
* - the part in brackets can be omitted to save even more space

+1
i rest my case ;))

I should... but I'm sentimental and too attached to the names I gave them. :D I still might do that, though.
an on/ off button now there is a good idea, can i have one for the old loot system and the new one?

1+ to that :-) I miss the old loot

Yes that would work perfectly, best of both worlds :)
