Today with the roll-out of the Xmas event my silos are upgradeable. Is it actually not supposed to happen before the event starts (11.12)?

Same costs too, surely the normal silo should be cheaper than the improved silo. 600 grout and 3.300 granite for a normal silo seems steep.

Or maybe its BB's idea to push the sale of imp. silos more.....wouldn't put it past them.

I doubt it, 60 presents for 200 grout, all my silos (12 improved) will most probably have an upgrade by the end of the event, but I won't spend a dime on additional silos just because the price seems too high.

So conclusion is? Those that do not yet have all silos will not even bother buying normal ones and will aim to buy improved ones one way or the other...
And I wouldn't be surprised if they remove improved silos from trade too.

We kind of kidnapped the thread but: Improved silos are 2.67x faster than normal silo, so it saves space for other buildings. I believe everyone should try and replace normal silos with improved ones, what I actually did. 12 imp silos and 36 farms are more than enough for me to support my economy.

I don't get why you are writting obvious things in reply to me that it maybe is not a bug and that maybe BB is trying to push the sale of more expesive building in gems...?

With the current game version *settlers being dropped in abundance from adventures* at this moment in time our need for wheat is less than prior, This isn't really supporting your claim that BB are trying to drive imp silos upward.

Yes, with same logic because of the population bug which you can use to double the troops size it is obvious that BB is helping us to play adventures.
Without silos you need to log in every now and then during the day and replace wheat fields, or use enormous amount of space to build many of them.
So if you want to feed the mills and breweries you will eventually want silos. There are plenty of players that yet don't have them or are working on them..
So when it comes to the choice which one to buy, this new feautre has narrowed the choice to most of people.

A bug is completely different to settlers being dropped in loot. The amount of settlers being dropped from adventures was designed to be that way, A bug is the exact opposite of this.

The fact still remains with adventures dropping so many settlers we need less bread, that in turn means we need less flour and ofc means we need less wheat. Less wheat means less Silos.

This would make sense if loot were balanced to begin with and that we could say that BB actually thought loots through

By we you mean all of us? You are ready to say that for entire community of players that play this game?
What about those that don't do adventures that much but spend enormous amounts of wheat on baskets? Just an example...

Not to mention that adventures like CLT consume 3 times more troops than before so you actually do need those settlers...

It makes no sense to me that you are trying to claim here that no one will need silos because you get settlers in the loot. Which you were given before too.
I could stock up with BK's 10k settlers in few days before the loot was changed.....

Upgrading silos and improved silos is not a temporary feature, so it has nothing to do with the Christmas Event activation.
The feature is included in the version (that was deployed today) and will continue to be available after Christmas deactivation so this is actually not a bug.
Happy upgrading! :)

Never once did I say no one will need silos, perhaps you should reread, I said less silos.

A lot of islands are specked up to make both baskets and population, It still would leave excess bread/flour/wheat/silos.

So your saying a bug is the same as game mechanics? :) funny at best.

At the end of the day CrazyBat comments like this are complete laughable based on the following, If it was all about driving up revenue BB would not have:

1) allow us to upgrade them in first place
2) increase the amount of settlers dropping from adventures

Regardless of what specific adventure drops what, the fact that a % of adventure are dropping more settlers than it cost to complete would have an effect on the bakery/mill/farm/silo chain

I don't follow your logic but hey, its your opinion.
Let me put it this way for ya maybe you will understand. Lets say I am a car salesman and I want to sell more high end cars.
I will A; reduce the price of expensive cars or B increase the price of less expensive cars to make expensive cars appear more of a bargain and in the end make them to be even better bargain?

I don't know why you discuss the matter but my initial question was if it is a bug that normal and improved silos can be upgraded to level 6 and I received the required answer. Thanks Ravel for the information and I hope you'll be here for us with much more frequent status updates to various topics that bother us.

@CrazyBat andBrayar: Please find another thread to clarify the benefits of using silos, cars, boosting sales and stuff :)

OP instructed this thread is stricktly about is it a bug or not so I can not answer you my guess....lol

I'll go with yes
