View Full Version : assigned troops changed after attack was launched
I just send 4 generals on a nice 3way block. I checked the troops the pop-up icon when you click on a general showed I had done everything ok and the right troops were assigned. All fine, attack on the way. Then I repositioned another general, and hopped to my home island.
When I came back to check the attack.... the general the repositioning general (which had started to break down his camp) was in his old position, and the attacking generals had an old setup.
Right. 130 crossbowmen and a bunch of cavalry, which all should have survived, are now dead. With a triple buff it takes almost 5 hours to rebuild them, and I actually need them to finish the adventure.
I'm fine if that happens due to my own mistake. But it all looked fine, they all left the camp ok. And somewhere along the road lag kicks in, weird stuff happens and.. well blergh + bah.
Happened to me several times too...

Happened last night on a BK on final dark castle, lost 56 cannons. Got the ''your general is attacking'' message twice don't know if that's relevant.
happens all the time. solution: assign troops and go back home, if your troops are still assigned when you come back to the adv they won't dissapear mid-attack. now that is what i call user friendliness, thx BB.
it happens when your general teleports to his guarrison. you think you can assign troops but in reality hes still coming back so yor troops don't get assigned properly.
I had the same problem and contacted support. They just said they could not verify I actually assigned the proper troops and that next I just have to triple check (call me a liar....).
They told me it was due to lag......

This bug has been happening ever since they implemented the PvP update several weeks ago, as 'Narcil' rightly pointed out, the general has not really relocated properly when you first assigned the troops, hence everything is more like an illusion at the moment.
The way to make sure everything is correctly assigned, I pretty much just do the adventure at a slower pace at the moment, and try not to send an attack out as soon as a general return from previous attack.
Bare-in-mind, the lag also caused bunch of other display issue such as block showing as intercepted when they didn't, 1R block lasting forever, general attacking the same camp multiple times, horses walking back to the attacking camp 'once more' after the initial attack finished.
(this bug only happens in multi-player adventure, when your ls already accepted and visited your island aka, hamster wheel on top of your garrision)

Not true... I have experienced all these issues in both single player adventures and multi-player adventures I have started before sending any invites. Happens much more frequently after other players join a multi-player, though... and I don't think I have accepted an invite for a loot spot since the Colony Mode update where I didn't witness a general attacking the same camp multiple times.
Yep, the showing as intercepted thing happened to me on Outlaws in the first attack.
I've managed to avoid sending off the wrong troops. I suspect (because of other players' accounts I've read) it's because before I relocate generals for the next attack, I always strip them of everything they have and assign the new troops once they arrived. Or if no relocation is needed, I strip them of troops then wait for a few minutes before assigning the next attacking setup.
Happened last night and just now to me. I put the troops in and double checked, even after he left his garrison because it happened last night too, all the way until he attack the camp i checked if the right troops were added.
Then the general dies and the Battle Report says it still had the previous troops.
Last time this kind of thing happened (last thursday) i wrote to support and they just said:
We had several reports on this issue and unfortunately there is no fix as of yet.
However please rest assured the Devs are already working on this issue. In the meantime I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience in this matter on behalf of myself and the developers.
And i had a direct request for a refund in my message they just ignored it. This really makes me hesitant to even play adventures, lost 300 cannoneers so far.
So once again, I lost 1 elite soldier and 3 recruit when the 216 cavalry I had assigned to my general magically disappeared after I sent the attack. They returned to another general that I had used previously. The interesting part is that there was 0 cavalry in the combat replay. They showed up and they did the attack animation but there was 0 troops actually attacking. So I didn't just forget to assign them. The game failed.

There's a picture of the 0 cavalry attacking. Needless to say, they did not do any damage. When it was time for the normal attacks, the rest of my troops got slaughtered.
Fix this freaking lag. I also expect to be sent the weapons I lost because of this. Time to actually take some kind of responsibility for your crap.

This is now getting beyond a joke, i have lost over 200 cannons due to this today doing BK. You send troops in and it seems to roll back to previous attacks and wipe out the troops sent in. This needs to be addressed quickly as we have had cannons removed from loot yet i am loosing far more then can be produced easily.
happened twice lost a whole lot of cannons and elites
thank you BB
maybe its a cunning plan by bb to make players lose these troops so they can use up granite and gc to upgrade weapons?

I'm really getting OVERLY cautious because of this kind of thing, triple-checking things that shouldn't even NEED to be double-checked, but regardless, the glitch still gets me occasionally.
As I adventure quite a lot (I did somewhere around 100 adventures during Xmas event, excluding lootspots) this implies quite an amount of uncalculated losses.
BB stance: "There's nothing in the logs".
Yeah, the fact that the game server is MISINFORMING players and there seems to be an obvious loss of data is very easily solved with "There's no proof it ever happened".
I don't know what the government would do if banks occasionally lost a million here and there, claiming "There's nothing in the logs, so we don't know if it really happened".
I don't want to know what the BB CEO would do if their daughter was on life support in hospital, the engine simply lost some data and automatically OD'ed the kid and the doctors simply said "There's nothing in the logs, thereby it's not our fault" ... ?
Yeah, I know that's a drastic exaggeration because hey, a game is just a game - but should we need to put up with trash that nobody would tolerate in the Real World just because it's a game (that we spend real world money on)?
It's this kind of approach to service and support that gives IT in general a bad name.

You select your troops, check them and send them off to battle only to find when you get the report on the battle another COMPLETELY DIFFERENT set of troops went in.
This is the 6 or 7th time I have raised this in Forum and frankly nothing happens and nothing gets any better!
NOT HAPPY

I know. We've reported it in 27247-battle (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/27247-battle) as a rare issue way before 25/11, but since then it's become common.
How to avoid this issue..
Allways let the sandglass spin and disappear by itself to make sure the task has been done, when you setup and load a general with new troops.
If it gets caught in "an infinite loop", return to home island to make sure you'll then get a proper reload from server.
Other tips..
When transfering generals to a new location, unload all units (atleast for the first ones) and then load them one by one.
Use (a) slide and cancel button to refresh troop status, then setup and load that general.
Beware of sync issues when leaving&returning to adventure, as animations are played from client and may not show what's actually happens (on server). Eg jumping generals are just a cosmetic error, but a general returning to garrison may roll back calls if there's a sync issue.

That's actually the ninja attacking.
But this downgrade on 25/11 has done horrible things to the game all round, messed up combat and unbalanced the game. Get rid of it.

this bug is still not solved. its an very costly bug now. loosing cannons, elite soldiers and crossbows on attacks that are supposed to be right. but everytime old setup is getting back during the attacks

and i am not talking of loosing a few cannons. i think i rebuilded allready around 1000 cannons, 1000 elites that were not calculated loss. the suspicioun i have, it is done on purpose by the development to get highlevels to get rid of surpluss of expert weapons they raised beore weapons were taken out of the loot
1000 cannons, 1000 elites. If it ain't working why oh why do you persist in repeating the same over and over again.

I've had this 2-3 times on sandycove and once on northisle, I wrote a ticket for last one and BB are aware there's a problem. The only way I've found to stop it happening is to completely empty general from last attack and then reload. Also if you doing a multi-wave attack let the wave finish before you send the next.

Doesn't help at all, it still happened to me.
And yes, BB is well aware of this issue but there's not even a silver lining on the horizon on when it will be fixed.
But hey - we're finally going to get Mountain Nukes so we can produce more weapons to replace our troops lost due to game bugs.

it happened to me also in HLT
2x;
general was set for a new attack, so new army in the general is marching in - after the fight in battle report the troops were from the last fihgt in my general, ;/ so 1st attack - lost 185K,
2nd attack lost 215xb. this one didn't go back as it was sent back after the intercepted camp was killed, so it moved to another camp even thou it was already going back to camp with retreat order..
try to fix this, or even adv's wont playable any more, ty!
don't tell support they might think you don't no how to assign troops, there's no problem, send screen shot. this has happened so many times support informed every time and one day they will answer but don't hold your breath watch out flying pigs are out and Satan has a ski suit
Should be fixed soon considering we are having 2x maintenance per week these days.
This big is back with a vengeance, at least on Sandycove........can we have a fix please....SOON might be good.
I've seen the 'General is attacking' message up to 3 times for the same general, but never have had the troop allocation change. The few times I've had problems is when I've (duh) forgotten to click the green-arrow confirm button but sent anway. But that doesn't explain why when the general is moving that the tool-tip shows the right troops. Did you actually click on the garrison and confirm that way? Perhaps it's a bug in the tool-tip when you hover over a garrison...
Don't believe i saw this. Removed 110 cannons from moma, placed all cannons in vet (he now got 165), sent moma on a 1 rec suicide attack and this is the good bit , i actually saw the 165 cannons in the vet change to 55!! then scurried over to moma, and yeah sure enough, he got the 110 cannons back.
Where is the compensation for all these lost cannons elites and crossbows???? Funny how its only high end troops getting slaughtered behind your back.

I sent a support ticket and was given the resources back.
