View Full Version : Game balance of xmas event is stupid
Whoever does the game balance (I know its a leap to think someone might) needs to be sacked.
I have sent out my explorers three times and I have already gained enough presents to get BOTH Recycling Manufactures as well as two of the Blue Prints. At this rate the whole event will be done for me by the end of the week. It is way too easy and a joke. Presents should be obtained from doing adventures, aka playing the game. Sure maybe a top up from explorers but not the whole event.
Conversely the Blueprints are way too hard. One of the blueprints I brought was called Marble Mountain. This allows me to convert 500 Herbs and 500 Scarecrows into a 1250 Marble refil. Whilst I am happy to finally have a use for my herb and scarecrows that I have collected up over the last year the amount needed here is insane. On average I probably get to click 20 collectables a day. If I guess half of those are going to be herbs or scarecrows that's 10 per day which I think is pretty generous. Collecting 1000 is therefore 100 days of game play. Even if you are a 12 hours a day player and got 2 cycles of collectables thats still 50 days of play to get the resources to create 1250 of marble. Seriously ???? I can just send out a couple of explorers and have the same result in less than 15 minutes. Why would anyone bother?
BB You spent so much time and effort to implement this feature but no one will ever use it... well maybe once a year...why did you go to all that trouble for something no one will ever use ?
I did the Getting into the Christmas Spirit adventure and got rewarded with 1000 exp points. Not really what I wanted as a level 50 player. I guess I wont be doing any more of those.
i know it says xp, but it changes to starcoins in the adv mail.
I like the fact u get presents from searches but i can see where u are coming from with having everythink to quickly.
Blue prints are one of the best ideas i have seen in along time. I agree some are pointless but it has added a much larger reason to use the rariety prov house
Things like the feast, the glue and the no buff are brilliant.
balance is good if this is yours first christmas event (you need 5-6 deerstlaker, rarity PH )
BB don't made anything for old players except blueprints.
It's hard to make good balance with explorers, because some players have 20 explorer some only 3... event is very hard for players with only 3 tavern explorer.
use this event to obtain presents for next event, also buy many grout for future upgrade

Like many level 50 the event is pretty much concluded for me but it is a nice opportunity to stockpile some grout for the future ( I hope this works out better than the grout I wasted on bakery/mill). It's rightly pointed out that it's probably just about balanced correctly for someone mid 20's ,except maybe the terrible return on short searches. Maybe some programming bias for tavern explorers if below level 40 might be nice.
The thing that worries me is where this is going does next years event consist of 2 deer stalkers and 2 recyclers for long term level 50's ?
stop complaining if your lucky enough to have left over presents cause you have so many explorers sell them cheap or give them to someone in need

While I agree with the majority of your post I totally disagree with this quote.
TSO is an economic/trading/settlement-building game with elements of adventuring and now PVE.
IMO the majority of presents should be gained from doing event related quests dependant on level.

I disagree too, I don't want every event to be the same adventure grind, Its nice to have a change.

more stuff to buy would have been nice tho. Hint RTTBN
Xmas has always been light in content, In some ways I see that as a bit of a blessing. It makes it so much easier for me to spend less time on here over the holidays and more time with the family as it should be. However It would have been nice to have seen a new geo for this event, geos and Xmas have both been quite light with developments over the years, possible a new building (advanced watermill) as an example.
But I don't wish to see every single event turned into a adventure grind, a change is as good as a rest.
Can't say i mind either. i still haven't recovered from the 150 BKs i did and double swapped during halloween.
still more in the shop wouldn't hurt.

As with all event is aimed for all levels.
best to carry on and help lower lv's in guild or friends list

I need to upgrade 14 Mills, 8 Bakeries, 30 Farms and some 20'ish silos.
If I didn't mis-calculate, I will need somewhere in the vicinity of 30k grout, which is around 9k presents.
Add to that the Blueprints, Deerstalkers and Recyclers and you're at nearly 11k presents.
I guess you already have that many by now.
I'm still struggling.
Low level players will be hard-pressed to obtain just the RPH, high level players are struggling for that grout ...
why? is bread still worth something on Northisle?
Yeah this is fun how we all spent lot of grout and granite for bread production and now we destroying these buildings :D not sure is that loot change with settlers was needed... i though normal provision house still have some use after feast appear but now normal provision needed only for guild quest :D
And about topic i understand that for small lvl players everything balanced but for big lvl players could be also balanced a bit like some one said with RTTBN or MSE im sure the presents price wont drop so low as its now. Because of present price now, grout price droped from 20-25 to i guess 7-10 gc ea maeby we will see less :) im sure every one who bought lot of grout before now can be mad only on BB :D

The marble blueprint is super useful and the second one I bought (after the glue). It's not so useful to replenish regular marble deposits because they are easily refilled with a 10 minute search from a skilled Geologist. However for the bonus two deposits you can get from a fully skilled geo, they are invaluable. Searching for those two can be a major pain and require a lot of wasted time, being able to keep those topped up so that they will never run out is a real bonus.

-1 didnt do a single building of those. pays to be lazy sometimes :D

ill only be mad if current trend continues. at first it took 50-100 grout to get a building to lvl 6, now it takes 600! hope if we ever get to the useful buildings like weaponsmiths, coinage etc it doesnt take 6000 grout a building..

Self-sufficiency.
I still need bread for all those Irmas and stuff but I guess you're right, I'm overproducing :D
you still need bread regardless only a couple adv give you more settlers then you use so if you do a few adv a day or a few big ones a week your going to need to make some settlers or wait for the schools to do their job... plus all the baskets ppl now make require bread

Well yes you still need some settlers but atleast 50% less so it means and bread need 50% less. And now for baskets you need less bread also. Because buff working longer and cost less. So bread is needed but at least 50% less so if no one destroy bread production it gonna be overproduction. I know guys who produce 200k bread per day so who need this mutch?

Although you are quite right, There is a very good reason why bread is now trading for under 20coin per 1k on nfl, Clearly its not inaccurate to say as a server we have seen a dramatic change regardless of what specific adventure drops what.
i hadnt noticed a change personally but then i dont sell bread i make about 120k bread per day when buffed and use it all ..but then again i do make alot of baskets and a fair few adv

i've been buying bread under 20coin per k for months.

The O-FWB and the THU/TP1 price charts both agree that in November/early December the average price for bread was around 27-28. If one person trades at the bottom of the range The range being around 20-35 it does not mean the average price is 20.
Recently the range on bread is more like 15-25 with an average of 20, That's around a 33% decrease within a month. A drop I would call dramatic.
lol. implying that trade sheets are accurate...
accurate or not, I guess the price of bread in early November was much higher than in the month before, and the 20 average of December is more close to the average price of the past months
from my observations, price of bread spiked during the halloween event, due to many BKs and TRs and other pumpkin-dropping adventures that needed a lot of recruit-making (the same for bronze sword prices). so, my opinion is that the price of bread is now returning, and not falling

I'm implying that because you personally trade at 20coins per 1k bread for "months", The amount does not necessarily represent the market as a whole.
Trade sheets can/have been accurate, not on everything at all times as this is impossible.

We clearly stated newfoundland, Your on Northisle, your pricing on Northisle is not relevant on newfoundland.
But sure ill reply putting the different servers to one side.
The fundamentals of breads usage in game have taken a nose dive leading to the price crashing due to many people being over supplied.
This has been caused by a number of factors, they are:
the lag in the game has caused some players to reduce the amount of adventure done daily
the new upgrades to the mills/bakeries etc have meant we are creating more than before
the amount of settlers being dropped from adventures means we are creating less and less from the provision house to cover our losses
stop complaining if your lucky enough to have left over presents cause you have so many explorers sell them cheap or give them to someone in need
totally agree with the end part of this ^^^^^
this is exactly what i have been doing not only in this event but all events
I get what i would like then say in halloween i didn't want silos so said ok someone send me what they cost in merchant i would send them slios for same so nobody looses out
this event so far i have got everything i wish to get also 2 extra deer stalkers by offering on trade office the same presents they cost in merchant
then all presents after that i have been helping lower level players get the stuff they desire as i dont need or want anything else now as i do with any excess i have in any event anyway as its "nice to be nice" as they say :)
I can say what i see from my island. I got 62k incomer per 12h with buffs usually this amount was enough for me and non left for sale. Now after that update when loot changed my stock earned 1.4mln bread from what i can see and all my star menu just getting more and more settlers with no producing any in provision house. So i can see that soon everyone realize that and bread price will decrease more or we will start destroying our lvl6 bakery... i still do 3-5 FT per week and around 15RB. I guess i might need more bread if i sell all ls without swaping and wont buy any other ls then i might need more bread, but who do that?
No problems with the balance of Christmas here. I'm an old player with all the explorers I managed to get in all previous events. That's a lot of explorers, and I get a lot of presents from them. I should, I put in a lot gems there ;-)
Friends with only the orignal trio and maybe one or two extra's don't get too many presents. They might just get all the stuff they need at the end of the event, and I may have to help them.
Other than that, the Christmas adventures are a nice change. Quest chains are ok. Snow still looks awful ;-)
Christmas tree is awesome, snowman is cool. Could use more happy lights on the houses. And I could use more variety in the shop, although I'm already quite happy with the provision house extensions.

presents soon will be 1 is to 10 . everyone gets everything this xmas and a manor wow.
I don't expect events to be tailored to me but to a wide spread players.

Nor should you, as there all about me!
While I agree this is an easy event, it's nice to have an event that is a bit more laid back. It's Christmas, it's nice to get something for nothing from BB for once and definitely beats the collectibles grind that every other event has turned into.

Almost as much as the Ruble or Oil... a couple of other artificial assets :)
