Why don't you have a 'count' of the various resource buildings on the island-like 3 coal mines, 4 toolmakers, etc and display where they are-could be added to the town hall?

there is the economy overview, that shows how many, you just need to add them up yourself though. and if you click one of them, it will transport your view to it's location.
