View Full Version : Sorting in the star menu

It would be useful if the sort in the various tabs was improved. If you could change it to alphabetical, then by quantity (ASC), that would be much better.
At the moment, it's alphabetical, but the individual stacks are shown randomly, so sometimes the one with the least is at the top, sometimes in the middle, and so on. It's more important than ever now, as you can't read the numbers on Aunty's Feasts. The sort position would help with this (though a picture which was slightly reduced in size would also help). I sometimes go to trade feasts, and find that all my stacks are 23 high instead of 25. You just can't tell how many there are for sure when 3s and 5s are involved, as the top half of the number is obscured by the picture.

Before they implement that, they should rather just automatically stack stuff, at least to the realistically available 25 per buff and 2 million per resource.
I don't see any real practical reason why anyone would WANT a stack of 18 Irma's Feast next to a stack of 6 Irma's feast next to a stack of 3 Irma's Feast next to a stack of 9 Irma's Feast next to a single Irma's Feast, above 25 Irma's Feast, next to 14 Irma's Feast ... but it seems like the game designers think nobody minds.

resources tab does stack by quantity

I was talking about the buffs tab in the Star menu. And the Resources tab sometimes mixes stuff up. For example, I sometimes have settlers in three places in between other resources. I've never noticed that it sorts by size.

I definitely agree with a stack-able Star Menu. I've been playing for years, and I've a menu a mile long. Especially one-shot buffs like Harvest Rituals and Helpful Scarecrows, which just sit in my menu taking up space, because they're worth nothing to sell. A simple tick-able box in the top-left of the icon to allow manual stacking, plus a single "Stack All" button would suffice.

People, like me, have been ranting about this for the last few years
condense single buffs/ allow us to group them off
make it a slide system
give us a numeric amount like the eco overview or mayors house.
allow us to delete stuff we dont want
But BB don’t really listen....that said the sorted out the barracks and so you never know.

It seems to be somewhat random. Resources are sorted almost on quantity but they only look at the first number it seems. My generals are not sorted by alphabet for some strange reason, they are completely random. For an unknown reason buffs do not always properly sort. It seems like there is no internal order to them. When you add resources to the mayors house, it's not always the one you pick that disappears. I guess they are using some data type that is not ordered. Like a dictionary in Python. That might explain that part but it does not explain all. My generals are always in the same order for some strange reason.
I'm going to assume that the programmers don't have any idea how to sort things so they just left it as is.

Nope.
Merchant gens and marshals (in order of purchase)
Tavern gens and marshals (in order of purchase)
Merchant explorers and scouts (in order of purchase)
Tavern explorers (in order of purchase)
Merchant geologists (in order of purchase)
Tavern geologists (in order of purchase)
When you add resources to the mayors house, it's not always the one you pick that disappears.
In my experience it is always the one you pick that disappears.

If BB do approach this problem I'd like to see it done in chunks rather than 1 go, Specialists would be my choice for their 1st go. I'd really like to see them sorted by type rather than purchase date. I'd also like to see the pop up you get when sending Generals to be sorted type but priority to be given to what's loaded and what's not.

Nice theory but they are not actually in the order of purchase and they were sorted differently before. My geologists and explorers are all sorted after type and not when I got them.
The resource stack I pick is almost never the one that disappears from the menu. Which one gets greyed out in wait for server confirmation is completely random.

Would you say it's Improved in all those years of ranting? :)
It could be bery nice if we could have a searchfield in our starmenu, cause as it grows bigger, it's hard to find various items

I have exactly the same problem, and we've been asking for this improvement for years. Please put it on a priority 'fix' list! Thank you!
would be extremely usefull if all instances of same adventure would stack rather than fill up pages to scroll through.
would also be nice being able to sort them by different criteria than alphabetical, eg sort by type

When they introduced stacking for buffs they said that at some point in the future that adventures would stack too - it seems there's a little more complexity with the issues of doing that. I have not heard anything to the contrary so I can only assume a change for adventures will come at some point.
