So.... the Specialist Limited Offer (http://forum.thesettlersonline.com/threads/29196-Limited-Offers-and-Promotions?p=275285&viewfull=1#post275285) is coming back to haunt us. Last time this introduced a ridiculous amount of lag into the game that did not go away until the 'offer' was removed. I sincerely hope that the lag issues with this 'feature' have been resolved. If not, then let the shouting commence!

Not again!! 20% faster for explorer/geo/gens. Well for generals its not! They will arrive quicker to your adv but they will rebuild over and over until their actual real time for travelling is up.
I don't understand these offers, 20% is nothing really, for all these bugs it should be 50% faster!
Please do not take 2 weeks to fix this. Ive already noticed major pauses on adv due to rebuilding garrisons!! So the dreaded lag is back!!!
I would much sooner not have these special little weeks at all. 20% faster with frustration OR a normal game?
This post is spurred by a conversation just a little while ago in Sandycove's Help chat, but the points raised seem to apply more universally.
Clearly this round of Speed Weeks has come with a set of shiny new, though based on previous Speed Weeks, not unexpected, bugs.
Players encountering bugs are often told, in sum:
'Please contact Support, if you don't how can you expect anything to be fixed and what's the point of just complaining in chat?'
There are a few difficulties with this.
• Speed Weeks are known to have issues, this is not news so it seems surprising if Support are not aware already.
• It's not uncommon, if one has contacted Support in the past about Speed Weeks, to feel there isn't much more to say. In previous releases the bugs, for the most part, cleared when the two weeks of Speed ended and the 'promotion' was removed. Not before.
• Discussing new bugs in chat serves several purposes
It lets other people know both what to look out for even if they've not had any trouble so far and if they have they know "it's not just me."
If someone has come across a workaround it's a good chance to share it.
It allows one to vent, sometimes a person just needs to let off a little steam and then feels better able to face irritations.
• "Please contact Support, etc." gives players about as much usable info as Support gets when someone reports nothing but "I haz a buuug!!! >:[ "
• Is it actually useful to Support if they are buried in tickets regarding what seems another facet of a fairly well known issue? Or does it just create a backlog and a need for them to send a *lot* of "Please clear cache and cookies./This issue is known and being looked into." responses.
If many tickets are useful, what exactly would it be most helpful to tell them? Do they need all of this, every time?

Keep in mind that's a fair bit to ask for something that seems pretty common, but again it would be helpful to know if it's all useful, or not. In the case of Speed Weeks issues would Support perhaps like to know if one is, for example, watching YouTube when things go hinky? Or is there something else specific people could look out for and report that might somehow be linked?
Simply being told variations of 'Contact support, or nothing will change', while well-intentioned, could be made a little more constructive if it came with a little more direction, as happens sometimes in the forum, and might also save Support some time if they get the information they need straight off.

Every time I have contacted support about the previous Explorer/Production/Whatever Weeks it has basically been the same story.... they ask me to clear my cache, etc. (which I do as a matter of course before resorting to contacting support)... After that it's merely a case of them informing me that a fix should be in the pipeline.
If somebody, preferably with nick starting with "BB", will explain to me precisely what my contacting support will achieve under these circumstances, besides wasting both the poor support monkey's and my own time, then I might consider doing so again in future. However, considering one of those support monkeys has already admitted to me that they have no direct contact with anyone who can actually make the sensible decision to turn these 'features' off and that they have no solutions to offer for the problems that they cause, I really do have to ask, "What is the point?".
I must be missing something, because I have no problem with 'lag' - nor have I ever had any such problems. I like the speed increase, and can't see any downside in terms of performance or the responsiveness of the game. This has been the case every time people have complained about performance issues... I never seem to have them.
Let me be clear - I am NOT saying that what people are reporting is not true. I am only saying that there must be additional factors because it clearly does not affect all players the same. My wife Diwata doesn't have any problems either, and while we use similar equipment (and of course are on the same ISP) we don't have identical setups - reducing the chances that it's only PC related as well.
I wish I had an answer...

Yup... I just experienced this myself now... Garrison builds resetting back to the start after reaching 80(ish) percent.
The only positive thing i have to say about this 'bonus feature' is that this time (at least so far) I have not suffered game-crippling lag. There seem to be plenty of other bugs going round, however, to chalk it up as yet another fail that, no doubt, those of us with problems shall be forced to endure them until the planned end date.... just like all the previous ones.
For the love of criminy, Blue Byte, if you cannot introduce these things without the bugs...
JUST... STOP!
Hey man , im just glad my explorers are not coming back slower than normal ! lol
So there has been some improvement since last time - got to give them credit...
whatfor they make explorers and geos faster if they don´t bring back the usual ressources and items?
the skilled geos find 90% only small deposits and the lucky explorers are not lucky anymore, the savage scouts bring more ressources than the luckies, the droprate for special items is near zero I only need more time at the game to send the explorers again and again. Not very exciting :-(

I laughed soo much, soo true this!!
Can we please have the special week removed? My generals are a good deal SLOWER than normal thanks to all the bugs.
Like I've said the previous special events, next time some of the higher ups get the brilliant idea to mess with the game for a couple of weeks: DON'T!!!
Apparently, the coders are not competent enough to multiply a variable with a constant to reduce the timers without completely breaking the game. SO JUST FREAKING STOP IT! DON'T DO IT! The fact that's the same freaking bugs as last time when we told you the same thing should be rather embarrassing. It's [removed] like this that make the devs sound like hypocrites when they* talk about listening to the players. So please, either just remove the worthless events that never work or fire the [removed] doing the coding and hire some proper programmers and make the game work. Then fire the other [removed] who are making the design desicions and replace them with someone who has actually studied some game design. Or even watched a Youtube video on the subject.
*Clarification here, the devs themselves never go near anything even resembling the game nor the community. They have several layers between themselves and the [removed] . They drip feed a minimum of information to the community managers who try to keep the players informed. They have a support staff with no direct link to anyone who can actually solve anything. They just relay information into some black hole. Most of the time, nothing happens. Other times, we get bug fixes that introduces new bugs instead.
Hello Zotamedu,
Please don't use insults, and keep it Pegi-7.

I +1 this
My generals never land......what the hell is that?!
waiting already 10 minutes, and they dont build.....going to 80% and then - back to 0 again
I can't even imagine what a mess the TSO codebase must be for such simple changes to bring this kind of chaos.
What is the real point of these "Special weeks"? Is it really a well intentioned gift (however incompetently implemented) or are they actually live game load tests?
If it's the latter, isn't that what the test server is for?

The purpose of the test server is shrouded in mystery. One would assume that new features would be tested there to sort out any bugs but quite a few bugs are just moved over to the live servers. Feedback and bug reports are ignored. It's not really designed to be easy to test stuff on either. So who knows what's the real purpose is.
I like the specialist weeks.
Sure it does mess up my timing on when to send a geo to be just in time after a mine colapsed to have a new deposit, but with a litle math that can be solved.
Never had generals wich didnt land, or have problems landing...
Neither do I suffer lag.....
So complain all you want... but for me they may keep these increased search-times , certainly for the explorers, I can do a lot more searches now....
Yes, slower overall because reasambling time take more time than they normally need to arrive to adventure. Great special week!
So, when will this stop?
shutdown is scheduled for 11th march

I didn't have either the first week then it jumped me and it lasts ever since. If you are playing 1 adventure or none, or only buying lootspots I guess you will not have many problems with generals.
