I am playing on sandy cove, when I attempt to log in to the game I get a screen that says:

"Connection Failed

We regret that the connection to the "The Settlers Online" server failed. Please try to reconnect. Should the problem persist, please visit the homepage and the forum for more information.

We are working to resolve the problem."

I don't see any other such complaints but this has been going on for almost 2 hours now and I am wondering if there is an estimate on when the server will be up and running

Sorry you have to learn the hard way but the only way you should run castle is having the exact amount of beans in storage to last until the end of buff. 'coz BB.

Don't forget a day of premium regardless if you were having one on or not. This is a fair way to compensate everyone. But Fairy dust is my favourite.

To add a exo basket another maintenance is required, 12hrs more of it to be more accurate lol.

well BB broke the game so they trying to fix it i think and hoping nobody notices to much, they will give compensation probably load of rubbish like normal but what they seem fit to give with silly messages ohh the rabbits chewed through the wires here's your rewards type thing
but hopefully they will get it sorted soon all they have to do is undo whatever they broke somehow and as its not just us "apparently" BB going to be getting hassle from all over just think all them tickets support probably getting also.

Setting expectations means someone actually did an estimation of the process. If it takes (so far) twice longer to complete then someone didn't do their job properly.

2. Refresh
If that doesn't fix the issue then try rebooting.

Whilst I am certain that none of the above will fix your issue, I am quite happy to give you my assurances that they will, in turn this should achieve 3 things:

a) Really, really, really annoy you, because it so obviously isn't going to fix it.
b) Really, really, really annoy you because I am talking to you like a 4 year old.
c) Give you some insight as to how your players feel when they contact your support desk.

On a side note and to make a serious point. Some dude over at BB made a long post talking about how you radically changed the Easter Event this year to add "game balance". Whilst I can certainly see that game balance is something you would strive for, and whilst I can see why some of the changes were desirable form a game-play point of view, it suggests that BB have forgotten some of the fundamentals of TSO.

You see, what was better about last years event and spotted eggs was THAT THEY WORKED. Yes i know that they didn't work the first time and it took you several events (years) to make it work properly but fundamentally the advantage of the spotted egg system was that it worked. i.e That you troubleshot the issues years ago and then just reran essentially the same event. Given your inability to write new code and/or deploy it properly have BB not made a fundamental error in judgement with deciding to change each and every event every year. Does this not condemn the players to have huge in play (no-play) issues for each event whilst you troubleshoot the new code?

Like I say I am not criticizing your desire to add game balance, however surely things would run much smoother if you only recognized your weaknesses and worked around them, rather than pretending they do not exist!

In short, it is very difficult to see where the "added game balance" justified the extra risks you took with the code that subsequently blew up in your face!

Given your inability to write new code and/or deploy it properly have BB not made a fundamental error in judgement with deciding to change each and every event every year. Does this not condemn the players to have huge in play (no-play) issues for each event whilst you troubleshoot the new code?

Like I say I am not criticizing your desire to add game balance, however surely things would run much smoother if you only recognized your weaknesses and worked around them, rather than pretending they do not exist!

In short, it is very difficult to see where the "added game balance" justified the extra risks you took with the code that subsequently blew up in your face!

Love your comment, and have had a hard time finding the game balance. I only played a short time so I was not here last year, but I hate that you would have to have played for years to get all the achievements, that is not game balance the way I see it.

I understand problems crop up and I'm incredibly grateful that BB started to take notice and at least update the homepage so we could see when a problem occurred rather than the old days of ignoring the customer until we all went nuts! But I have to say this time I'm getting fed up. I'm sure BB will try to 'compensate' us by offering something that might be really useful for some players and totally worthless to others, but when people like me have timed their buffs to run out after maintenance is finished, on things that they wouldn't ever dream of leaving un-buffed because of the costs involved, no amount of compensation is going to cover what I and others are losing. Obviously you cant compensate on an individual basis but it's days like this I wonder why I play a game that seems to consistently get things wrong!

i dunno i been playing daily since 2012 probably had 10 days off in all that time when my laptop was in repair shop and i still have to complete it as they brought them in part way through and not took into account all things had done previously as that would be to hard to do 1 by 1

It looks like some database issue then or maybe something wrong with expression used to search it and patch it. I hope it is not something with those pesky zone errors. Good luck BB fixing it and don't give up. If something doesn't work, then give it a 5 min coffee pause, try thinking out of box and try again. Whatever you do, please do not delete our islands. Take your time. Do hurry slowly. Make sure to not break any things with our precious islands. :)

Non guild members arent hurt by this, so no guild coins for them to compensate them.

Fadito, I am aware that other instances who had maintenance today are now having some issues and it is my suspicion that one of the reasons our maintenance is taking so long is in order to avoid this type of problems happening on EMEA-ENG.

However, I believe I have a different definition for "big problems" as I only consider these setbacks and I am confident we will get them sorted before the servers go live. My point was: there is no need to panic, as we are working on getting everything sorted and bringing the servers online asap.

I am aware that this is not the regular maintenance schedule and I know you guys are frustrated, but it is the first time we are running a conversion script on event resources and it appears some delays are inevitable.

well if you are not in a guild, you wouldn't get the guild coins either- so nothing lost there

the 100 guild coin are to avoid endless discussions about invested time/effort etc to get a quest close to finish and then have em reset and all efforts having been in vane. Small loss for some people/guilds, small bonus of other guilds - no bonus for unguilded ) U don't get reward if not in the race :P

I hope the team can see that the server-wide conversion script was a bad idea and that it's better to let players do the conversion themselves whenever is convenient for them. Much less stress on the servers that way.

As told a couple of times before, you cant loose out on the achievements.
however many will lose their daily log in bonus , and so 100 gems for a week log-in.
But I am sure BB will make up for it, or find a way to repay it.
They usually do....
