Loading Screen of Death

Everytime I click Play, the game only takes me up to 'Loading Map' screen with the blue background. I have done everything from restarting my laptop and router, switching browsers, clearing cache of both browsers, clearing Flash cache but still nothing seems to work. Is anyone else suffering the same issue?

I have had plenty of trouble getting back to home island from adventure island.

It would be really hard to know exactly what is happening without being there - running traces, checking memory and CPU usage, disk usage, etc. However - I have an observation which may or may not have value:

I never had any problems playing the game - all the reports of lag time, loading problems, generals jumping around, etc. - I couldn't believe they were happening. THEN I went to the Philippines (during the Easter event unfortunately) and needed to use an Internet Cafe which felt like it was dial-up. Once I hit the "Play Now" button (assuming I could even get the site to come up) I had a literal 20-30 minute wait before I even saw my map! It was horrible. I also starting getting disconnect errors and settlers banging on server graphics and chat lost messages - everything I had heard about but never experienced.

So thankfully back in NZ I have high-speed broadband and can load in 10 seconds.

I'm certain that doesn't explain all the problems some are having, but don't forget to consider your connection and overall Internet speed - find a speed checker (there's lots of them out there) and when you are having problems see if your ISP might be part of it.
